If you want a CHEAP gym membership for only $10 a month and want to be treated like you are only worth $10 to the company, then this is the place for you! First of all, I wont bash PF because of its lack of amenities and equipment, its $10, you get what you pay for, no frills, no extras, broken equipment, more members then available equipment at peak times, etc. (but they will offer you tootsie rolls and pizza and bagels once a month to help you get in shape, how ironic?). Speaking of in shape, they obviously do not practice what they preach when an employee who has been there since they opened is obese and severely out of shape, probably gaining weight (and not from muscle mass). I guess they dont lead by example? I never seen that person work out ever, even while off duty. Its cleanliness is hit or miss, some days it is not too bad, other days it is just dirty and nasty, and that is NOT counting the mildew and mold in the mens showers that I told an employee about that took over a month to get cleaned. Also, the yellow and purple everywhere looks like a Barney and Big Bird crime scene, it gives me a headache. Their personal training is laughable, I have watched their trainers (are they even certified trainers?) in action and one morning I witnessed their trainer with a female senior citizen guest who was using the pull down machine incorrectly (pulling behind her neck) and risking possible neck and back injuries while he stood there like he didnt care and talked and joked with his co-worker and did not correct her. I always wondered why there are so many people in that gym who did not know how to use the equipment properly, obviously they were not trained properly. My biggest complaint with Planet Fitness is their customer service, or complete lack thereof, including management right upto the corporate office. Like I said, you are only paying $10 a month and they certainly treat you that way and act as if they could care less if they lost a member (or a few). They do not resolve customer complaints and instead of trying to answer a complaint and at least try to work with a customer, they say you are welcome to cancel your membership. I dont know about you, but I dont resolve my customers concerns in my business by canceling their contracts, it would put me out of business if I operated that way. But at PF, they figure, what is $10 a month to us? And with that attitude, the poor staff, and the lack of quality equipment and amenities I have canceled my membership and I am taking my money elsewhere and I am much happier paying twice as much a month at my new gym (Golds) and getting a facility, staff, and experience 100000 times better than Planet Fitness.

Im not a PF employee or a paid hack for PF. If youre looking for a basic gym workout location.......PF in Apopka is it. Yes, its $10/month. Ive been a member for 1 year. Once in a great while there is a broken piece of equipment, but its usually repaired and back in service within 1 day. Ive never seen the place dirty. Its always clean, including the showers in the mens room. The staff members are always helpful. True, that if you show up between 5p-7p, the place is packed. And you might have to wait a few minutes for any particular piece of equipment. But when I was a Ballys member (at $30/month), showing up at the "rush" hour was no different. There is no club that has enough equipment to accommodate EVERYONE all the time. If youre looking for a place to socialize, have illicit sex in the showers, etc....this is not the place for you. If you want a place to have a good, serious workout, then get heck out and go home or wherever??? This is the place for you. The fact that its very busy all the time says loads about what many of us feel about PF............if youre rude, abuse the equipment, etc....they ask you to leave. I should have fired Ballys years ago..............

No free weights unless you use Dumbbells for everything and that only goes to like 80lbs. There is only one of each dumbbell and like three benches. Three smith machines that are usually taken. Oh and if you use Dumbbells dont let them hit the ground or you will be threatened to be kicked out. It is small and usually smells like nasty sweat. Bathrooms are very gross and gym area is pretty dirty. It feels like staff is always looking at you to see if you are going to make noise. Its just not a fun place to workout and not many options to change up your workouts. You will get Real bored with the same limited equipment day in day out. Manager has attitude and doesnt seem to really care. The mount Dora golds gym is 9 miles up the road and they usually have a special for around $10 dollars. They have equipment for days never get bored and bathroom amenities for days and always smell good and clean. The difference for the money is night and day. This planet fitness is nasty. Sorry but its the truth. Go visit it if you dont believe it.

I started a membership with this gym, the $10 a month (which wasnt really $10 a month anyways), went for a month and then decided to not give them my bank account number because when you cancel your membership they will still be able to take all the money they want from you because it stays on file. While trying to work out other payment methods, one woman began being very rude with me. I was trying to keep my composure yet canceled my membership and upon leaving was told by the woman that "If your attitude continues, I am going to have to ask you to leave" which she continued to rant about how she didnt appreciate it. The few women employees that work there are rude and always seem to be in a bad mood, while the men there are very pleasant to work with and polite. The way they explain things definitely have an understanding tone and they help you quite a bit! I would say go to the Altamonte Gym, or L.A. Fitness. The gym is small and has a small selection without offering classes.

Great small little gym. Although lifters are limited to smith machines, you will still be able to perform all your appropriate lifts. I have been able to do them all, including dead lifts & overhead BB presses. Great staff, they keep the gym always stocked and literally always clean. Very informative trainers, and also very friendly no matter what time of day. Very rarely I walk into the establishment without a "Good morning" or walk out without a "Hope you have a great day!" Dont listen to critics about Planet Fitness. If you desperately want to slam weights on the floor, grunt your heart out & wear your thin string tank top to the gym to parade your massive pecs - then this might not be the gym for you. However, if you want to start lifting - clean up & rack your weights appropriately, appreciate a clean gym & nice staff, perform your reps with control & on the quieter side, you may have found a new home with this Planet Fitness.
