I recently bought a condo in North Miami Beach. It needed a water heater. The condo association recommended Joe Hillman, so I contacted them. I wanted a tankless water heater because the condo had a dearth of storage space. The manager told me that my condo building did not have the amperage (strength of electrical current) required for a tankless water heater. I was resigned to a tank water heater. He told me that it would cost $1,800 for a 50 gallon water heater installed. I was shocked at the price but thought that since my condo association recommended this company I was stuck. The manager required an advance deposit of $900 to install the heater which I paid. The balance was required as soon as it was installed. Once I finally gained access to my condo, I discovered that many residents there had tankless water heaters. I subsequently called Joe Hillman back and told them that I was given erroneous information about the amperage requirement in the building and that I wanted the water heater removed for reasons of storage space. They agreed to remove the heater from my condo but did not offer any restitution. Indeed, the manager denied telling me that I could not install a tankless water heater in my condo. So, I was out $900 dollars.There was no apology or offer of even partial recompense. In light of the false information the company provided, the exorbitant cost and poor customer service, I cannot recommend this business to anyone..

I phoned Joe Hillman Plumbers based upon the reviews they had earned on Angies List. I contacted them on Thursday afternoon and they set up an appointment for the very next day. However, I received a phone call from Jean the next day. She informed me they had an earlier opening, which I could have if I wanted. I jumped at the opportunity and less than an hour later JJ showed up. I showed him the problem and he got to work immediately. He dug down, cut away the damaged pipe and installed a heavier (better) pipe and fittings. He tested for new leaks, there was none, and then refilled the hole, taking great care with the sod that was dug up. He was very organized and made sure everything was clean and neat when he finished. Throughout the job JJ explained each step of the process so that I knew exactly what he was doing. Before he left, he took the time to explain why I needed to keep an eye on the water heater, as it is 13 years old. We also talked about a couple of other items he noticed, which he had no obligation to do. JJ was there for 3½ hours and every moment he was "on the job". The receptionist, Jean, who took my first call was personable, cheery, and helpful. I felt that she really wanted to work with me. The price I paid included a 15% senior citizen discount.

Hands down the best experience Ive ever had with ANY type service company......Tony is an absolute prince and honest as the day is long...I expected to replace two toilets and instead was given a 2 minute fix on the both of them....the days of that type of honesty have long past...Tony and Joe Hillman Plumbing are the exception......thanks so much guys.....Steve Miiller, Parkland Fl.
