"You get out what you put in" -Aristotle. What was said then holds true to now, exactly that. If you walk in that door with a chip on your shoulder and negative vibes.. as with anything in life.. youre not going to get very far. I will say this, I read the negative google reviews on CF Affliction and I am not going to lie, they disheartened me. It actually dis-swayed me from joining for about 3 weeks. Then I put on my big girl pants and said to myself.. "Let me make my own decision." That was the best decision I have ever made. I called, left a message, and was contacted shortly thereafter by Glenn Ocampo. We sat down and chatted about my goals, current situation, pricing, and all of that jazz. I signed up. This was the end of July 2012. The next day I did my on ramp with Heidi Bowser (owner and wife of the acclaimed "unstable man" Steven Bowser). We went through technique after technique over and over and over.. and over and over... and over again. I had already been crossfitting for a while but kept getting injured/was not seeing the progression that I wanted. Turns out my technique was off. Go Figure! So what did we do? More practice.. over and over.. ha. I thought I was going to die and I think I was only using the 35lb bar. Fast forward a week. I had randomly signed up to compete in a CF competition that weekend. I was a newbie at the gym, I didnt advertise it, I didnt know anyone, and I didnt really think anyone would care that I was doing the comp. HA! Boy was I wrong. I mentioned to Heidi that I was, she called me immediately went over each and every detail of the workout with me. Later that day I then stopped by the gym to pick up an affliction shirt to wear while competing. Steve and Glenn were there and they again asked me if I was good with the workouts. There was one part of the workout that I wasnt sure if I would be able to do... an 8ft wall climb. So what did we do? Steve promptly walked me out to a wall outside of the gym and climbed it to show me how. HOW COOL IS THAT.. Ive not known these people for over a week and they are going out of their way to support/coach/make me feel comfortable. That is exactly what I was looking for in a gym. The competition was great, some new friends came to cheer me on, and even some of the coaches came out to watch! It made me feel loved, supported, and motivated. Ive since gone on to have numerous personal records, made some amazing new lifelong friends, and pushed myself beyond so many boundaries that I thought were there. This is a great place, Steve is not a crazy person (well in a bad way.. because I think all crossfitters are crazy to an extent), Heidi is sweet, supportive, and welcoming, and all of the other trainers there are amazing!

I found Broward 2 1/2 years ago, and though it was a 35 minute drive from my home; I toured the gym one time and signed up that day. The equipment was(and is) beautiful, the facility well run and organized, but what really sold me were the people and the environment. From the moment I walked in I could see that this was a community and not just a gym. The coaches, staff and members at Broward are unparalleled. They take their time to teach you each movement, safely and efficiently. They pay attention to each of your individual strengths and weaknesses. They get to know your unique learning style, goals, and your limits and abilities to help you become your best self. In a short time I was hitting numbers, and performing skill work that only months before I never would have considered possible. It has been close to three years, and I have made an unrecognizable transformation both physically and mentally. I have never been stronger, faster, or more confident, and I am still gaining strength each and every day. I am part of an amazing community, and met the best friends I have ever had. I have recently started competing, something I never dreamed I could do, and the coaches and members take personal time out of their lives to attend every single competition I have ever been a part of. Perhaps most importantly, I am finally truly healthy. I could never have accomplished any of this without Broward Crossfit. This facility was truly life-altering in the best way possible, a godsend for me, and now I could not imagine my life without it.

With over 50 Crossfit boxes in the local area, there is no question that the Crossfit movement is growing. But quantity does not equal quality, and each box has its own culture and community. I have been a member for over 3 years now and each year has seen new personal bests and performance improvements, because of the love and care Steven and Heidi Bowser put into it. Besides a commitment to continuing education, hosting seminars from leading coaches and trainers on weightlifting, powerlifting, conditioning, and nutrition/recovery, they also continue to expand the gym with top level equipment found nowhere else - a reverse hyper, a full sized competition rig, weightlifting platforms, complete sets of kettlebells/dumbells, GHDs, hooks and chains/bands for powerlifting training. You name it, its probably there or on the way. It is a pleasure to train alongside some of the top athletes in the region who call this gym home. I will never forget the things I have learned here, which have changed my life. Thank you Broward Crossfit.

After two years of Crossfit at another gym, I was disappointed when my progress began to standstill. I was then introduced and openly welcomed into the Broward CrossFit family. Once I was able to join in on the programming and push myself to keep up with the other incredible athletes, it was a game changer for me and I could never see myself training at another gym again. All of the trainers are highly qualified and decorated with seminar experiences and certifications and are the kindest and most patient people you could turn to for help. There is a huge member base that is more of a family than just paying customers and they are always willing to partner with you on a wod, give quick advice on a lift, or share a beer with you at one of our parties. Whether you are a newbie to the whole crossfit thing and have no idea how to begin or are an experienced and competitive athlete, THIS is the training facility for you.

When I walked into Playground Broward CrossFit I immediately knew this would be my new home. Quality Coaching and Program Design is a must but 32 Rowers, 54 Ft Pull Up Rig and not to mention a Community that is second to none. I came from another gym that had some great athletes and okay coaches but more or less ran their facility more like a Frat house then a professional training facility. Lets face it we all get tweaks from training. Heidi, Steve, Billy, Liz, and Brad are the first one to tell me to back off on training and immediately how me Mobility and Stretching exercises to keep the body whole. We forget to add that in and EVERY Single class ends with a Stretching and mobility class. Ive been to over 30 CrossFit Gyms and never had such a great experience. I loved it so much I decided to do some privates to tighten up my Olympic Weightlifting movements. Class A facility.
