I want to start by saying this is my person option of my experience. The gym is beautiful and lots of nice amenities. I am reviewing a one start after my free "Evaluation Session". I was told when I signed up youll get one free training session with a LAF person trainer to set up a workout plan, great who doesnt want that as they are first starting to work out... a plan to follow great. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. We spent the first 20min talking about my goals and the guy was very nice and knew alot about working out, I learned about the need to build muscle he took my BMI and was taking notes on a sheet I thought I would get at the end. We did about 20min trying a few basic things rowing, proper squats modeling, planking, pushups then went back to his desk. As soon as we got back to his desk he told me I was in the lowest percent of their charts in a number of area (Im not in bad shape just need to lose a few pounds) and then he went right into the sales pitch. I was told I was not going to lose weight or gain muscle unless I sighed up for a personal trainer plan that was a 6 month or 12 month commitment one, twice, or tree times a week at $65 a session. I told him I was interested in a trainer but I work for a non-profit and did not think I could afford it right now. He kept pushing and told me if I really wanted to change I could find places in my life to safe the money and should signup now if I was serious. I said again I needed to think about it hoping we would go to the plan I thought we were setting up... After I told him I needed time to think about it he took all the notes we were taking and my BMI info and overview sheet about my mini workout put them in a draw told me thanks and we were done. We NEVER talked about what a plan could look like for me, just a few workout overviews in the mini session, which is why I thought I was going to set up a basic plan... this was a hard sell pitch and thats it. I got up and was so shocked that the receptionist asked me as I walked away if I was alright by the look on my face. Again I think this is a great gym but DONT take the "free" session its a wast of time and youll walk away with little to nothing you walked in expecting and a lower self esteem.

I am disgusted in the filth that is in the mens change room. Its horrific. The bins are over flowing, paper towels are all over the floor, toilets are so unhygienic! There is always towel paper left in the cardio machines, its gross!! I didnt want to raise it with the floor manager as I feel he is a total douche bag that is quick to sign you up and take your money but is not willing to be professional when dealing with a client whom I referred. Is this suppose to be a state of the art gym? I think so! I have taken photos of the filth so I will take this matter to a higher power. I will not deal with the male manager who is there. I am very disappointed. When I laid this complaint to the lady at the reception today, her response was, "oh thats strange because we have someone who cleans the change rooms daily". I think not! I am there at least 3 times a week and its the same old story. I perhaps thought they are short staffed because its the new club but sadly that isnt the case. I will not reccomend anyone else to this gym again. Never have I seen such filth at a private gym. Get a hose, soap and clean the gentlemens restroom. Its shocking! To add, I have never once seen the gym equipment being wiped, inparticularly the cardio machines. Who runs the show there?

So difficult to cancel membership! Will milk your money for all youre worth. Beware. I signed up and was promised its super easy to cancel at any moment with no fee. I was out of state and apparently I have to cancel in person at the gym. If not in person you can call customer service to cancel. But guess what customer service phone line doesnt exist. Its a joke I called for days and it never worked. The next suggestion the manager gave me was to fill out a form and have it mailed to corporate in who knows where do they can postpone my account. Thanks LaFitness for making what should of been a five minute process take over a month and have the gym charging me for time I wasnt even in he state. Plus when I canceled they somehow figured they would charge me 40 dollars or something. I paid it just to get out of he night mare. Never again. Thanks for nothing. Support a local gym or find better managed chain.

This LA Fitness DOES NOT SUPPORT VETERANS!!! They will tell you to have a nice day. They totally lack people skills, are dumb and stupid, and have no respect for others. Maybe because I am White, 63, and a Veteran of the U.S. ARMY. Like many others this Fort Lauderdale L.A. Fitness charges me $5.00 every day to use their facility because my L.A. Fitness membership is only Multi Club not multi state. As a decorated combat Veteran (82d Airborne Division) it would be nice to get a break but I guess this L.A. Fitness really doesnt support vets??? $5 a day is a months fee in a week and I am a L.A. Fitness member. Thanks L.A. Fitness.. Oh, the gym is good.

I head into the gym with a 3 day guest pass on Friday April 29th as I am moving close to that gym in a little over a month. They send me to their sales reps to sell me on a membership. As I plan to be a member in the near future, I declined mentioning I will be 100% get a membership at that time however Im still at planet fitness finishing out my contract and do not need 2 memberships. The I handed my ID and they went on to say I can not use the 3 day pass. I can take their membership theyre offering or pay $15 to use the gym for the day. Seriously? Worst management ever!! Now they lost a customer from their insanely bad service. Terrible place. -Robbie

I dont get why this place is so popular. Always wayy too full. I always had 24Hour Fitness membership when I was stationed in California, unfortunately I had to switch to LA Fitness when I came here due to the lack of 24Hour gyms. Always trying to sell you something, card is always getting changed in their system, and staff is not as friendly as most other places. Even when they close at 8pm on Saturday, instead of telling me that those are the regular hours, they respond with "we got lives too".... well cool story bro... I dont want to hear you complain about your social life... if you dont want to work, quit.

The general managers name who signed me up is Art. I told him I did not have a lot to spend on a gym. He said all I had to pay the day I signed up was $35. I thought that was affordable but I wanted to be sure so I asked him again to make sure how much I would pay and he said $35. The next day I saw I was charged $70 instead ($35 for the first month and $35 for the last). I was upset because he lied to my face and especially when I did not have $70 to spend at the time on a gym. I canceled my membership a couple days later. Do not do business with this place.
