I was recently turned away from this particular planet fitness because I had an issue providing them with my checking account information. I offered to pay by cash or credit card but was persistently declined access to a membership. The reason for this is because once you provide them with a ACH authorization they have the right to charge you monthly. "Even with proper notice of cancellation (witch is outlined in the contract) they will most likely continue to charge you and simply disregard your notice" (Reddit). There is a very thin line of protection between your checking account and a retailer with ACH debit authorization. Upon doing some research, it has come to my attention that this the main reason they only sign members up through the use of their checking accounts - so they can continue to charge you despite your timely notice of cancellation and no-term contract. Despite this quasi-criminal approach to locking you into an ongoing gym membership they are still incompetent enough to deny membership to personnel through the use of credit cards or cash. Even if I were to pay the upfront initiation fee of ~$40 with a no term contract through a credit card, cancelled my credit card immediately after signing up and only visited the gym for that month... They still would receive $40 and my contact would be terminated. If I wanted to sign up again I would have to pay the $40 fee AGAIN... basically, they are turning away immediate revenues with hopes that it will be over compensated by the lack of cancelling or the inability to cancel... With that being said I will be looking to open a separate checking account solely for the use of PF. I will also provide credit card info with a credit card solely used for PF. This way if and when I ever want to cancel my membership I can simply close both accounts without fear of being continuously charged. Good luck to the rest of you when you attempt to flee the grasp of this criminalistic franchise and are assessed multiple fees when your account(s) are over drawn.

I visited today and enjoyed my workout but I had a few issues. I am a member of the Pompano location but recently moved so the Fort Lauderdale location is now closer. I enjoyed all of the new equipment; it was great. The gym wasnt too packed at the time that I went. The biggest issue I have is that the only lockers were inside the restrooms, and you need your own lock. I had to leave my gym bag in my car and carry my keys around because I didnt have a lock and felt uncomfortable leaving my wallet/keys unattended. They have locks you can buy but I didnt go to the gym to buy a lock. At the Pompano PF, they have lockers outside of the restrooms that have built-in locks. Second issue: the water tastes horrible. Im not sure why but the water from the fountain tastes like it comes straight from the tap. Pompano PF has a water fountain specifically to fill water bottles and Ive never had a problem with the taste. I will bring my own water to the FTL PF moving forward. The final issue was the Wifi being down. This is easily fixable but it was inconvenient for my visit. I hope I dont sound like Im complaining. Im just being honest abouty experience. I will more then likely continue to go but I just wanted others to be informed about these things because I wish I had been. If anything happens to change, I will update accordingly.

All I wanted was a club open with flexible hours so I could come and go around my schedule. Seemed Ideal, but they wont accept payment unless you give them your banking information even if you pay for the year in advance... Thanks but no thanks, and yes I even tried their website after filling out the credit card information for the due now option on the black card(their top tier), they still wanted my bank account number and routing number for a recurring payment. There is no recurring payment when it is paid in full. I have to question their billing practices. If they were to get this fixed I might consider it because of the convenient location and hours.

Response from the owner to Shawns review.... Owner your response makes zero sense, if someone pays for a year in advance then there is NO reason that this franchise should REQUIRE someones personal information such as banking .... In your defense (owner) I will say that everyone needs to understand most likely this this is a policy REQUIRED by the rules of buying into the franchise and not yours... Im not rating this based on this location Im rating it based on the policy.

First of all every majority of gyms offer banking account info for register they not gonna take more than what they charge you depend on your membership ive been with them for a year black membership and thats the amount theyve been taking out my account nothing to feel suspicious about they have great offers for register price reduce like the mothers day one thats how i becamed a member so watch out for those they are very helpful other than that no worries

People is so rude, Ive tried twice to be a member first I didnt like that the request is my bank account information. I went back today with my information, but I didnt have my Credit card to make the first payment, cause didnt know I have to made the first payment with a card, since they only take payments with direct deposit and went I ask the guy in the front desk if I could pay with a check the manager answer was "hell nouuu" what is this?

Yall stop being so critical. This gym is just opening give it a chance sheesh!! The hours could be 24 hrs tho. Other than that i love its convenient location less than 3mins from home. Keep the staff friendly and caring. Keep the place clean and youll have business from me forever. We can also keep the place great as members too so some enforcement on cleaning habits from members is great also. See you PF this weekend..

A pretty good Planet Fitness considering how crowded it is in the Mornings. The showers and locker rooms could be cleaner, but I can understand how itd be hard to keep up with the crowd after say 7am. Still there are more than enough treadmills and cardio machines. If you want weights or strength machines definitely ask for the schedule printout that indicates the not-busy times.

Herbert and the whole crews got your back here.Price is unbeatable as everyone knows, but the team here make this gym top of the line. Ive been a member at three planet fitnesses in Florida and am proud to say that the Broward Blvd P.F. is the best- hands down bar none!

For a new place its beginning to smell like sweat socks when you walk in. Disappointing specialty options for upgrade membership are either broken or being used by folks watching TV or on their phones. Seriously people just sit at equipment on rheir phones hogging equipment - no regard if someone else is waiting to use it!

This location is the #1 gym I have visisted because of the staff. I travel the county and have been to over 100+ gyms in the 15 years. They put out 110% to earn your biz which equals trust. The owner of this gym should be very proud of the team he has put together, that reflects a 5 stars operation.
