My son has attended 4 schools since the age of 13 weeks. He attended this school for about 3 months after a previous school went out of business abruptly. They were great taking him in with short notice. Yolanda made all of the arrangements quickly (and over the weekend) so my son had somewhere to go Monday morning. But our overall impression of the school went down from there. It is a safe school. The staff are ok, middle of the road enthusiasm, but show little interest overall. Everyone through the door is either "mom" or "dad" in their world. There is no attempt to learn names even after 3 months of repeating my name over and over. The teacher that he had used a "faces" scale to grade behavior, and a daily calendar for the parents. After about 4 days, my son went from his usual "happy" or "straight" face to "sad" faces all of the time. After about a week of "sad" faces, my wife tried to talk to the teacher, and Yolanda, and got little in the way of details. My son didnt seem to know what he had done wrong. This is not his normal behavior. At other schools if he got in trouble, he would tell us "I threw mulch and hit Jimmy", or "I took someones toy, but they made me give it back". Just kid stuff. Here, he didnt ever seem to know he was in trouble. A note appeared at the bottom of the calendar "please call teacher", which seemed odd since my wife had already tried to talk to them with little result. Once again the details were sketchy, and they showed little in the way of guidance or solution. Yolanda seemed very proud that she had taught in public schools, and she was very proud of all of the educated teachers who worked for her, but she seemed to fail to realize that we paid her cash to take care of our child. Their program was all about placing the blame back on the parent, and demanding a correction in behavior. My son is 5. We can talk to him in the evenings until we are blue in the face, but we are not there during the day to guide his behavior. Yolanda and the teachers need to go back to their development charts and realize that at this age, they are most influential immediately when something occurs. Other oddities that were annoying. If a child left a belonging (jacket or whatever) in the lunchroom or on the playground, it went into a giant "lost and found" pile. The teachers made no attempt to return the item to the child. Once again, they seemed to show little enthusiasm for personal attention. If I taught a class of kids, I think it would be pretty easy to remember who sat or played where and ask them "did you forget something"? When asked about this, Yolandas husband made it very clear that they were not there to pick up after these kids. They needed to learn to take care of their own stuff. Another oddity. In the afternoon they closed his room and made all of the children in that room get their belongings from their cubby and move it to a different room. Not always the same room. So when you showed up to get your child, you had to go room to room to find the "pile" and retrieve their stuff, even though I generally had to go through his room, past his cubbby and hook, to the playground to get him anyway. Some people might not be bothered by this, I just though it was odd. The other 3 schools that my son has gone to had a much warmer and more personal feel. Maybe we will have to get used to this as he enters public school, but for now, we are paying these people a lot of money, and I do expect better. My son has since moved to a nearby discovery point, where the staff are once again friendly and energetic, and we are having no problems at all.

Being grandparents of two toddlers at this school and having had 3 of my own children in daycare, I know just a little bit about child daycares. I must say that this one facility, is not one of the best I have ever seen, IT IS THE BEST!. This daycare have wonderful friendly and courteous people working there, who are so nice and take pride in what they do.. The teachers have so much control and structure in the classroom, I was simply amazed. My grandson who is 4 and a bit hyper has really calmed down since attending this school. Security is also great, locked doors with code requirement or requiring picture ID even, if you are on the list for pick up, until they know you. And if your child gets sick there, they will care and love them sincerely, until you arrive. My grandson had a fever and one of his teachers was putting cold compresses around his neck and holding him, she was very very concerned and nurturing. Both my grandchildren used to cry in another day care, when being dropped off in the morning, not here. My granddaughter is 2 and knows her ABCs already, hence the excellent teaching staff. As you can tell, I am very fond of this school and their employees. After all, they are caring for my two most precious gifts from God. :-)

My daughter has been at Discovery Point since she was about 4 months old. I cant say enough wonderful things about the staff. Everyone is so caring and works together. Jolene the owner makes sure things run smoothly and if there are any issues, she resolves them immediately. This particular location had exceptional staff! From the warmest individuals Rachel and Lynn at the front to the most attentive ladies in the infant room to the funniest and most caring women in beginners where my daughter is now. There are other discovery points closer to our house which my son goes to the before and after school at (and they are great), but my husband and I agree that we want her to remain here because of the staff. And thats what really matters...caring and loving staff. When I drop her off every day she smiles and joyously leans over to Ana or Andrea or the many other wonderful ladies who work there. Cant say enough great things!

Weve moved a lot, and my two children have gone to a total of four different child care centers which includes Discovery Point. I can wholeheartedly say that Discovery Point has by far been the best! Both of my kids have gone through their VPK program which was phenomenal and more than prepared them for entry into kindergarten. The teachers at Discovery Point are truly invested in the children and really want them to succeed. Its apparent that this is not just a job for them but a passion. The difference between the Discovery Point kids at kindergarten was very apparent not just to us as parents but to the elementary teachers as well. The owners are also very down to earth and easy to talk to. As a parent, its always difficult to be away from your children, but with Discovery Point I know that they are always in good hands.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! My two kids have been at this Center since infancy--initially, because it was the only center anywhere near our newly-built home in Pasco. 7 years later and we are still there--because of the consistently clean facility, the teachers and the hands-on owners. As my kids now enter elementary school, they are scoring leaps and bounds above other children their age--and although Id like to take some credit, I know that it is truly because of the reading and phoenics skills taught at Discovery Point. There are great activities for the VPK and Summer Camp programs--museums, aquariums, bowling, water parks...the list goes on. I wholeheartedly recommend this Center for loving care of your children!
