Definitely not what I was hoping for. I have been searching for a new salon for a while because the stylist I loved moved out of the area. I have read lots of reviews on the web and have tried a couple of places in search of a great haircut. Im not against paying a high price to get the right results. I dont usually write bad reviews. I dont want to hurt anyones business. So I wont say who cut my hair at this salon. But as a business owner myself, and as someone who uses reviews for research, I thought I couldnt let this one go without a comment. I arrived at the salon on time and was greeted promptly. I took a seat and completed their information form. After that, I sat and waited. For the next 20 minutes past my appointment time, no one spoke to me. I dont know if there was no manager on that day or they just didnt notice. I know that sometimes schedules run late. But someone should have noticed and said something. This isnt a great way to impress a new client. I would have overlooked this if everything else went well. But the stylist that washed, cut and dried my hair did a less than mediocre job. She did a wet cut and explained that she would finish with the texturizing after it was dry. That was the way I was used to having a cut so I agreed. She took a long time to blow out my hair. When it was dry she spent about 5 minutes dry cutting and said she was done. My impression was that she was now way behind and had another client waiting. I was more than a bit surprised. Usually the dry cutting takes more time that the wet cutting. I have thick wavy hair that tends to get really big if not texturized a good amount. And my bangs are the hardest part of my hair to style. She had barely cut them at all. So I pointed out a few areas that I thought needed to be cut more. She quickly made two more cuts and then got out the pomade and pieced it a bit and said she was done. Now I didnt want to annoy the person with the scissors and then have them cut more so I said thanks and left. I looked terrible. My bangs were a disaster. And I payed $70 plus tip to look like this. Again, I dont want to hurt anyones business. The salon itself seemed nice. But that only really matters if you get good service. So hopefully someone will read this and make some improvements. But I will resume my search for a great haircut elsewhere.

I came to Dolce Vita looking for an edgy fun hairstyle. I was sick of getting "mom" cuts and paying top dollar for cuts that were boring and below par. I went to David and he knocked it out of the park. When I first sat in his chair he was fluffy my hair up, moving it around, and messing with it a bunch. I actually asked what he was doing because I had never had someone spend any amount of time doing this before a haircut. He said he was trying to see how my hair fell naturally (and later on I saw how this really paid off). After my wash, he parted my hair right where I wear it (which is kind of a weird part and no one ever gets it right). I have wavey hair with quite a few cawlicks and I like shorter hairstyles that are meant to be worn straight so cutting my hair for this is usually pretty difficult, but he went right to work with no hesitations fixing my problem areas without me having to bring attention to them like i usually do. He already had knowledge of how my hair would behave because of what he did earlier. Throughout my cut I noticed how efficient he was. He took his time making sure everything was even and falling just the way i would have wanted it. I wanted him to cut layers without losing length, and usually stylists take it upon themselves to do whatever they want and end up cutting my hair way too short, but he did not. He did exactly what I asked. He took the bulkiness out of my hair while leaving the length and cutting funky fun layers in it to make it edgy and cool. Half way through my blow dry the receptionist let him know his next client had arrived and I thought for sure he would rush through the final inspection of my hair and not take the time to make sure everything was perfect but he did not. He gave me the attention and time I paid for and I left feeling great! Paying $60 for a haircut might seem steep to some people, but I have paid much more a received much less attention and care. It was worth every dollar. Even after getting home and washing my hair myself my hairstyle looks amazing and I am so greatful to finally have found a stylist that can give me the cool west coast hair I want. Thank you David and Dolce Vita Salon!

I made an appointment at this salon because of the great reviews, because I wanted a salon experience that was relaxing and made me feel pampered, and because I was interested in natural/organic hair care. I was so happy to find that Crystal specializes in organic products, and made an appointment with her. I enjoyed every minute of my time in the salon. They offered me wine right away (it was actually very good too) and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The highlight of my experience, however, was getting to know Crystal and her in-depth instruction on how to care for my hair and how to style it. She actually took the extra time to slow down and show me how to style it the way she was styling it. She was honest with me about my hair and how Ive been styling/caring for it and gave me advice and helpful information, which was so refreshing because I feel like I learned so much from her, and Im excited about the changes Ill be making! She also introduced me to the Neuma line of organic products, which I love. She went above and beyond what I expected, and really did a fantastic job. I will definitely be coming back!

David is THE BEST Stylist I have ever had! A few years ago I found David when my regular stylist was off the day I needed a haircut. I was happily surprised at his skills with my hair and to be honest, I was not that happy with the way it was looking at the moment. He takes his time and is very detailed in his approach. I would describe what he does as art, not just a cut. He does exactly what you want, even if you have a hard time describing it. I highly recommend him. For a long time I thought I had thick hair. Come to find out I actually have rather thin hair, naturally wavy and a TON of it. He is the only stylist to recognize that and work with my hair to make it amazing. It will turn into a bush if I brush it out, and it has always been difficult to find someone who could cut my hair so that I can keep it long, and not frizzy. I am faithful to David, because no one I have been to- can do what he does. Go see him, he is an amazing colorist as well. You will not be disappointed! And, no, I have not been paid or asked to write this review!
