Avoid this gym at all cost. The alleged owner, Walter, is rude, unprofessional and has an agressive mannerism. The wife and I called to schedule an appointment to view the gym since it was unmanned and locked during displayed hours posted on gym door. At this point in the conversation so had no idea he was the business owner. Walter was defensive and condescending over the phone about how he operates; belittling other gym services in the area and stating that you had to schedule an appointment (so why have posted hours membership hours to sign up). With a bit of hesitation I scheduled an appointment, hoping he would be friendlier in person than over the phone; not the case. The wife and I entered the gym and immediately Walter was confrontational; dismissing my wife altogether, and asking why I was there. In dismay I informed him we were there to take a look at the facility, and that I had just scheduled an appointment with him over the phone. Walter had no interest in giving a tour and was looking for a confrontation; asking me if I was upset. His interrogative tone caught me off guard and wasnt sure what angle he was trying to work. I explained that I didnt have an issue, and could only assume he was relating to my previous phone inquiry regarding the hours they operated at so I could tour the gym when staff was on premise. I explained that I just retired from the military and was used to posted hours of operations and people being on premise, hoping that would lighten the aggressive approach I was enduring. He responded in a very condescending manner, pointing to his sign and telling me "had you read the sign you would see you need to schedule an appointment". I defer back to my previous comment in relation to their posted sign which announces membership "sign up times" clearly at the top (giving the impression this is when staff is on site); providing a number at the bottom only for membership "information". At this point I chose to discontinue the conversation, telling Walter I initially had interest because the gym was close to where I had just moved to, but after dealing with a staff member who talks down and is confrontational with potential clients, unprovoked, that I would take my business elsewhere. He smiled sarcastically, opened the door to usher the wife and me out stating "good, I wasnt going to let you in anyway..we only accept certain customers in our gym (discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen?). In dismay at his entire approach (still hadnt acknowledged my wife who remained quiet in disbelief) I informed him that I would be contacting his corporate office regarding his unprofessionalism. He responded again sarcastically "Im the owner"...really? I am so glad we have decided to look elsewhere for our fitness needs; will be worth any additional drive :)

Please read Mike V.s review of this gym as it is spot on, I have seen Walter do this to more then one person and believe I was actually there when Mikes incident occurred. I have been going to this gym for 6 months and have had not a single good interaction with Walter the owner. I had a run in with him where he accused me of doing something and had video evidence that I had been doing it. He said he had been looking for me for a few weeks, but must not of been looking hard as I was at the gym 5/6 days a week. He runs a sub par gym for the price. The people who go to the gym there are one of the only real reasons that I have stayed along with the convenient vicinity to my home. All the other staff and members are friendly. Has a good variety of free weights and machines with a medium to small amount of cardio equipment, which is probably a space issue. I would not suggest this gym to anyone as there are many other alternatives where your money is better spent.

I have been a member of this sports club for over a year and a half and cant live without it! Just love it. It is a wonderful facility, clean, has great equipment and staff. I have had the best trainer at The Sports Club that I work with at least once a week for the last year and a half. She custom develops my complete body workout routines, provides dietary/nutrient guidance, and measures my body stats very regular to guide me in meeting my goals. My trainer uses very positive motivation allowing me to look forward and enjoy coming to strength training and exceeding my goals. I highly recommend The Sports Club and its Trainer.

This gym is terrible. I signed up for a personal trainer, who ended up stealing literally hundreds of dollars from me. He quit without telling me, kept canceling on me and being shady and when I finally went in to find out what was going on the owner blamed me. I never got my money back (only did 4 of 12 sessions with that creep), I reported them to the BBB but it was a he said/she said thing (the owner stated I kept canceling my sessions and never- not once- did I cancel or was a no show- but the trainer did that multiple times). Please dont give this business any of your money!!!

Come check out The Sports Club at its new location behind Burger King off 301 and Boyette. The new facility is so spacious. The equipment is always available and clean due to the towel and cleaning service The Sports Club offers. I love the new private bathrooms and locker rooms, I can workout, shower, and get to work. :) They will soon be offering boxing for fitness and aerobics classes which I cant wait to take!!! I am grateful for the amazing members of The Soprts Club that helped make the expansion possible, as well as, the largest fitness facility in Riverview.

Went to sign up based on the signs on the front window that stated $15 Month to Month, The lady working in the office said it was $30 month with a contract and didnt know anything about the 3 signs in the window. Sucks the staff are incompetent, gym looked decent.

At $15 a month, this gym is over priced and the equipment and facilty need to be upgraded and renovated. In comparison, Crunch gym in Valrico only charges $10 a month and is modern with updated equipment and no binding contract.

Theyve added a few extra machines in the last year, but still dont have anything finished upstairs that was suppose to be completed last year. They charge a towel fee and the you cam get a cheaper monthly fee elsewhere.
