Not only do I LOVE their brunch/breakfast (I worship the High Flyer), but I consistently receive outstanding service whenever I come here. Even though their grits are to die for, I wouldnt keep coming back and taking my out-of-town guests here if the service wasnt so superb. Flying Biscuit- Candler Park is a small space, and you sometimes have to wait to be seated. Still, the servers are so friendly, informed, and professional, that you dont mind waiting. They make you feel cared for. They split checks with a smile. They dont mind brining your peaches on the side instead of on top of your pancake. They ask you if youd like another coffee for the road. After a recent especially negative experience at a DIFFERENT Atlanta restaurant, coming back here was refreshing. I dont believe in only reviewing places that give me a negative experience; I want to also applaud restaurants when they make my experience pleasant and easy. Thank you, Flying Biscuit, for your amazing customer service and for the tattooed blonde female server with dreads. And for your creamy, dreamy grits. Youre the best and I love you.

Get the Southern Scrambler for $7.99 and you get the best omelette-like deal on the menu (Actual omelettes are usually 8.99 - 9.99). The "special" is often good, as well. Though the creamy grits are the best grits Ive ever had, I usually opt for the field greens, which is just that with some sort of vinagerette (but its a surprisingly tasty salad despite being so basic). Note that those biscuits are caloric bombs if youre watching weight, but theyre very tasty with some butter and honey. Service is a bit hit or miss, unfortunately. Sometimes it can be painfully slow tracking down your waiter or waitress. Finally, on the weekends expect a LONG wait here at the McLendon location if you get there any time after say 9:30 all the way until probably 1pm in the afternoon. If you get there before 9AM on a Saturday or Sunday youll have virtually no wait -- though most of the folks eating then are local families with young kids who wake us up early ...

SOOOOO GOOOOOD I had to write this review as I am eating it!! Mmmm! Its already gone I should have ordered a full stack!! Scrumdiddlyumcious!! The pancakes and the grits are good too! I usually like sugar in my grits but their cheddar grits are delish! Enjoy!! UPDATE: I STILL LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I have introduced a many few to this location and they are all hooked! Recently, in relation to original post, I discovered the bakery next door... uuuugghhh whyyyyyy!!!!!! The carrot cream cheese muffins are SOOOO GOOOOD!!!! All of them are good, but THAT one is my favorite!! The eggstravaganza is still my favorite meal all times of the day!! One waiter was so kind as to inform me that children eat free after 4 during the week...! That is awesome! Cant wait to visit again soon!

Best breakfast on the East side of ATL. Great atmosphere is what makes the Maclendon location the best, from the uneven floors to the crazy art painted on the walls, it just feels right. This place was the brainchild of The Indigo Girls who were a staple of the Atlanta music scene in the 80 and 90s. Weve been eating at the Biscuit for more than 20 years and have never had a bad meal. Every server is friendly and helpful for those who cant decide which dish to get. While waiting for a table, because on the weekend you will be waiting unless you are there when they open, grab a coffee at their bakery on the corner and relax on one of the benches out front. Theyll call you when the table is ready. Strike up a conversation with one of the other locals who frequent the place.

I went to the bakery side of Flying Bisuit this morning thinking they were open because I saw another customer walk in. As soon as I walk in I see the previous customer asking about the muffins and being helped. I on the other hand was immediatly told by the cashier that she was not open yet. So I step outside but watched as she continued to serve the other customer and watched her pay. I realized it was about 6 min. before opening, but why would she continue to serve someone else and not tell them the same thing I was told. Could it be cause she was white and Im black. I hate to think that, but...

Very tasty stuff - generally only eat breakfast here (any time of day...bonus!) But lunch dinner options are excellent oo. The Vegan BBQ burrito may sound gross to some but it is really amazingly delicious...the meggxican wrap is my favorite breakfast option. Despite its name, no the biscuits are far from the best...they are good, but more in a scone type of way than what youd call a biscuit. The grits however are out of this world... not traditional either but if you ever have any out of town visitors who might be reluctant to taste this southern delight... bring them here.

Im a foodie & this is one of my favorite places to eat! Seriously Im there every 4 days! The staff is great & I havent tried anything thats disappointed me yet! Biscuits, AMAZING, the bakery banana nut muffins (so good), THE SHRIMP & CREAMY GRIT award worthy, side salad, black bean (love) cakes, the chicken pot pie biscuits, vegan burrito, bread pudding, biscuit with gravy, THE PANCAKES!!!! fluffy & perfect, THE SOUP (if you like tomato, its a winner)... If you go & you love good food with a place thats usually busy for breakfast, but has a cool vibe this is the place for you!

My daughter brought us here for grandsons birthday. We are from Florida and never heard of this place. We are in AWE. I am NYC born and raised and know good food. This food is BEYOND amazing. The flavors, and combinations are art on a plate! The apple butter was so goid, my fiancee took a jar home, saying it was just as good as his MOMS ( And We Know How Good MOMS Stuff is!) This is one of those local, small, comfy places with the BEST food and service! You will not be sorry! My only regret is I dont live closer!!

TL;DR - Atlanta staple, go for dinner Flying biscuit is and always will be one of my favorite places in Atlanta. The food is good, homey and great portions for the price. Their peach pancake is one of my personal favorites and their moon dusted potatoes are incredible. I would recommend going for dinner! The menu is the same and you miss the crazy rush. The service is always friendly and usually fairly quick. They also do take-out! Their coffee is a bit in the dark/bitter side so just be aware before you order!

Host was a bit dry to me when I asked... do I seat myself. I was seated, then after about 15 minutes a server came to take my order. The food came out quick. After the dry emotion from the host and waiting 15 minutes to put my order in, the server stayed calm and recovered me as a loyal customer. Note to management,be caution who you have at your front door greeting and seating your guest! Teach your front door staff to treat all guest with the same smile and sense of urgency,no matter their RACE!

People say their biscuits are great but Im a bread person and let me just say that biscuits were not that great at all! They tasted very floury. They were missing something I cant really put my finger on it I mean other than that the food was good I had breakfast I didnt have lunch or anything like that and their grits were okay. Me being a true Peach it just isnt everything that people say it is especially about them biscuits which I was highly disappointed in being that it was my first time!
