A close friend of mine referred me to American Barber Shop in Cumming. He had received what appeared to be a very nice shave and beard trim. I was informed by him the guy to see there was Mack and that he was very keen and meticulous. After seeing and hearing about a great experience I figured it would be a good place to go. I have always been a straight forward guy at the barber; I get my head shaved with a #1 guard. Its really hard to screw that up but my selling point for American Barber was the beard trim. I HAD a very nice, long, burly beard and handlebar/flared mustache that was never professionally cut. I have always shaved my head and cleaned up my beard once a week for maintenance, but figured it was time to treat myself and have a second set of eyes even out my beard and taper the sides. I took a lunch break from work to go get trimmed up and was impressed walking in. The establishment was very nicely put together and looked very professional. As soon as i sat down I noticed there were a couple gentlemen sitting, scrolling through their phones waiting for whom I assumed would be Mack or other barber at work. A very sweet and cordial barber approached me and asked if I was next and I accepted; being on lunch break I didnt have time to wait for Mack or anybody else hard at work. Based on the environment and extensive beard products I thought the entire staff would be qualified for anything. I was sat down and gave straight forward instructions on my cut, #1 on top, taper the sides of my beard a little, remove the stragglers on the sides, shave my cheek line and dont take any of the length off. I asked her if she trimmed beards and was given a naive almost cocky "of course" answer. The hair cut was fantastic, tight and prim; I really enjoyed it. She started to trim my beard. Trimmed the stray hairs, tapered the sides, shaved my cheek line, looked great. Then she kick the chair back, I thought she was cleaning up my astray hairs and neckline but it was much more. She managed to trim off about half my beard length and bare trimmed a half inch from the bottom of my neck leaving me terrible razor burn. I saw plenty of razor burn cream that probably just sits on the shelf. Once I was looking at myself I was in shock how short it was and at this point, had to let her trim my untouched mustache to proportion. I held my finger to my mustache showing the length to trim off and this is pretty much why I posted this review. My mustache is just shy of a half inch shorter on my right side and Im am not thrilled. At all. It will probably take, respectively, four to five months to get my beard back to where is was. So bottomline if youre high and tight this is the place for you. Big beard fellas, Id take my business elsewhere. Personally I am going to invest in a nice set of shears and scissors and will diligently take care of myself since I cant find a decent review for beard trimming within a twenty mile radius of Cumming.

Im in my 40s and Ive only 6 barbers over my lifetime across multiple states. I walk into a barber shop and watch the barbers for 1/2 hour or more before I select the barber in complete confidence. With that said; Ive chosen Marcio from this shop! Marcio is very methodical and listens to your request. He offers great advice and uses more tools than most barbers to cut the perfect fade or blend in the crown. Marcio simply excels in his craft!! You will recognize him instantly when you walk in - he is always impeccably dressed and groomed. Consistent cuts, utilizes true barber skills...not a salon hair dresser, shaves straight lines and is very respectful! I do wish this shop had more men BARBERS.....I go here for a barber, not a beauty salon....disappointing. Maybe theres another Marcio out there if theyd hire more barbers. Ask for Marcio for a great experience - genuine barber, highly recommended! Worth the wait that is typical of a barber with great skills.

Awesome shop! Classic barbers are offering casual yet professional service. Never too long of a wait.Always happy with my cut.Customer service is excellent, the barbers and stylists are courteous and responsive. Jamal was my barber today and did an excellent job to pay attention to every detail.He always provides the freshest cuts.Always consistent and reliable plus a great person to talk to.After completing the haircut, he went to work on my scruffy beard. After completion, it was the cleanest my beard has ever looked.Every Haircut would come with a neck Shave with a hot towel.Great price, great service, amazing results. Fantastic! Everyone is friendly and helpful.Great atmosphere. The shop is clean, and the service was fast.It was also really affordable. I will be back to this place.you should go too.No appointments need here. I got a great haircut for an awesome price. I would recommend!

Took my guy friend here yesterday. The man who cut his hair did not do it right. Not only that but he did not ask him if he wanted anything he would just start doing it. So if you like to pay for stuff without being asked first,have stuff sprayed on you every 3 minutes,and not get the haircut you want this place is for you. It is a shame. The atmosphere was neat. They seemed nice. Possibly just the guy we got. But first impressions are huge. And this left a bad one. Something I noticed. Everyone left covered in hair. The little blower they use just blows it all around. Back to the drawing board. In hindsight I note that the pictures on the net of the haircuts. Are the guy who specializes in that cut. This is a detail not noted anywhere. It is basically in comments. So maybe you will have better luck knowing that weirdness. But I will never get my guy friend back through that door.

American Barber shop is the place to be, I take my boys for their regular monthly haircuts and couldnt be happier with their service. Great atmosphere, friendly and professional barbers, we love the environment and the layout of all their shops. They have 3 great locations and we go to all 3 of them. We are treated with great respect and never feel pressure when we are there. When you walk in everyone greets us with big smile on their face. Barbers have great experience at what they do and deliver nothing short of perfect service each and every time. I recommend them very highly and would like for all you gentlemen to pay them a visit and take your sons with you to expiernce classic barber shop grooming. I guarantee you will fall in love. Visit any of their 3 locations they are located off of GA 400 Norht: exit 8 Mansell Rd, exit 13 Peachtree Pkwy, and exit 17 Kiethbridge Rd.

American Barber one of the best barber shop Ive been.Brought my kids in and we were in and out with wonderful cuts 20 minutes later.Quick haircut for my guys.Always happy with his cut.Love the environment very kid friendly. Vadem and the other employees were so sweet and good with my kids.Vadem cut my sons hair, and I was extremely pleased.He was nice and funny, but most importantly he did an excellent job.Always a great experience coming here. Everyone makes us feel comfortable from the moment we walk in until we leave. The establishment is unfussy, always clean & great atmosphere. It reflects the pride in their practice.One of the best customer service. Nice staff that truly knows what theyre doing & very personable as well! Excellent place to get a haircut from.
