I booked J. Thomas based on a recommendation by my venue. I did some research and was impressed by all the reviews. Kayla, the wedding coordinator for the salon, was friendly, though sometimes it took awhile to hear from her. The morning of the wedding, we learned the salon forgot to include one of my bridesmaids on the schedule. It was an honest mistake, we werent upset about it. When I arrived at 9 am with my mom, we found out one of the stylists was sick. This was never communicated to me by Leslie, the other stylist, who was already working on one of my bridesmaids hair. In fact, Leslie never said anything to me, not hello, not congratulations. She turned her nose up at me, making comments about how we added a girl at the last minute. Even when I tried to talk to her, she was snippy, again mentioning how I added someone to the schedule, refused to admit that the salon made a mistake, and wouldnt look at me. She said nothing to me about Tanya, the other stylist. I honestly didnt know if she was coming. I tried to be nice to Leslie, even complimenting her work, and shed either ignore me or respond "Thanks." without looking at me. Leslie complained multiple times to the girls about how dark it was in our getting ready room, moved the furniture around (which infuriated the owner of the venue because the floors are custom wood). When she met the owner of the venue, she was rude to her, asking if she was JUST the coordinator and if this was her only job. Later in the day, she forgot she met her. Im not a mean person, nor am I a bridezilla, but to be treated like that on my wedding day, the morning Im freaked out and ready to throw up, was the worst start to my day. Tanya, the other stylist, arrived 40 minutes late. She was in no rush. Not apologetic. She took 20 minutes to set up, again moving furniture. Leslie told her we added a bridesmaid at the last minute. When Tanya turned her attention to me, she asked what I wanted for the girls makeup. I advised for natural, no red lips. She responded, "Oh, Kayla didnt tell you about lips? Of course not. We dont do lips. I mean, I could do it, but it wont be on you by the start of the wedding and I cant give you anything to reapply." This stunned me, because 1) any makeup artist gives you samples to reapply and 2) since no one told us that, no one had lipstick on them. I had to ask my step dad to go through my bag back at the house to find my lipstick. Tanya and Leslie chatted about personal things, ignoring us. Tanya said she had a migraine, so we heard all about that. It was NOT the fun getting ready experience Ive experienced with other bridal parties. It instead was uncomfortable. When it came time to go, Leslie said to the room, "So Im going to start packing up, if you could give me your money, Ill take it. Im packing up. Ill take your money." She didnt say it quietly, not to us individually, but just in a loud, obnoxious way. When she called the salon to process our credit cards, she snapped AGAIN about how WE added a girl even though it was the salons mistake. That said, the hair and makeup done by the Tanya and Leslie was beautiful, but Leslie ruined the experience for us. I can understand if Tanya was ill, she was at least friendly, albeit never apologizing. But I will never forgive Leslie for her attitude and complete rudeness toward me, my family, the owner of the venue, and my bridesmaids. No one deserves to be treated the way we were treated.

I am just speaking for my experience, I am sure every stylist at this salon is different. I went in for a cut and highlights. This salon has 3 tiers of stylists and I chose to go with a mid level stylist. This salon is expensive, and I would have chosen to simply go with an entry level stylist but I thought that since I was going from a long hairstyle to a shorter more complicated style, I needed to have someone with more experience. Well I can say that my cut is not totally horrible, but it is not anything like what I asked for, and I had brought a picture of what I wanted. I have previously, successfully, had my hair cut in this particular style by a few other stylists, in a different town. Unfortunately, I dont live near them anymore and had to chose a new salon to go to. The stylist that they put me with appeared to be listening to my requests, but kept doing the opposite of what I asked. The cut turned out looking nothing like the picture, not even close. She started the cut and then gave me a mirror and asked me what I thought (as if she were finished), I told her that it needed to be more angled and shorter in back and layered, then she said that she was not finished, that she would finish after doing the highlights. I thought that was weird, why would she ask me what I thought before she was finished? I explained a few times that I wanted it long in the front and stacked in the back (like the picture), and it seemed to almost be coming along how it should, then she snipped a big chunk of bangs in the front, which totally messed up the style. Her style of cutting was not like any of my former stylists, and it took her a long time. She never looked at me straight on to make sure that both sides were even, and she had to go back and fix it because one side turned out way longer than the other. It is apparent to me now that she must not be trained or have an understanding of the more modern styles you see today. I also asked for a few chunky highlights and ended up with the whole top of my head highlighted. As I was seeing what she was doing with the highlights, I stopped her a few times explaining what I wanted again and she kept telling me that was what she was doing. I have never had a problem telling any stylist that I only wanted a couple random chunks of highlights. I really am stumped on how she could missunderstand me. As for the color of the highlights, I stressed to her that I didnt want them to be white or gold, but rather a pale blond color. Again, this is something I tell all of my stylists and have had no problems previously. I ended up with gold highlights. So basically, I will not be returning to this salon. Like I said before though, I am sure that all of the stylists are different. I just expected more for the price I paid, which was $95 after a coupon for free haircut with any coloring for new customers. It would have been an additional $50 for the haircut without this coupon, using the mid level stylist.

I recently moved to the area and needed to find a new salon so after reading reviews I went in with a photo of the cut and color that I wanted. I saw Charli and explained in detail what I wanted which was to trim my hair, add a few layers and leave my overall color dark but to add a few neutral to ash balayage highlights. My hair has a tendency to pull orange so I explained to her that in order to get the color I want, she has to use ash. After three hours in the salon, I left with copper highlights which was the opposite of what I wanted. I didnt even realize they were copper until I got home because the lighting in the salon is so terrible. They are closed Sunday and Monday so I called on Tuesday and made an appointment for a color correction on Wednesday. I took her outside, showed her the color in the sunlight, explained again that I didnt want it to be light overall but that I wanted it mostly dark with just a few very neutral to ash highlights and to add some lighter blonde pieces into the existing highlights - NO WARM TONES. She added lowlights throughout but then instead of adding a few blonde pieces into the existing highlights she foiled stringy blonde pieces randomly throughout my hair. After a toner, I checked it only to find that the blonde highlights were bright, neon yellow so I asked her to tone it again. After the second toner it seemed like maybe the tones were better (again, I couldt tell inside because of the lighting and its hard to see with a hand mirror outside) so I left. When I got home and checked the color, it was once again copper and yellow and looked nothing like the photo I showed her. I should also mention that the cut is nothing like the photo either. Shorter than I wanted, overly layered and doesnt look like a modern cut. Because I am still unhappy after I spent nearly $140, 6 hours in the salon and 2 hours driving there was no way I was going in a THIRD time so I called, politely explained the situation and asked for a refund so I could pay to have it fixed at my old salon. They replied telling me that they would not refund my money. In short, I paid for a service, they were unable to deliver even remotely adequate results and then they kept my money anyway. No integrity and completely dishonest business practice. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this salon. They do not value their customers time or satisfaction and were willing to let me be unhappy with the result rather than refunding my money and keeping my business.
