I was once a member of the LA Fitness franchise, but only for a short time. I left and moved on to Golds Gym, due to horrible management of LA Fitness. I visited this particular club today, only because I was meeting a few friends there for a workout and lunch afterwards. First off, it took nearly 20 mins to sign up for a 1 day pass, which is completely normal for LA. The process was held up due to another member arguing with the receptionist over restroom matters, all while another employee stood there to witness the altercation. Zzzzzzz. Then, about 20 mins after that, I had two employees approach me and the person that I was with and tell me "Theres no training or coaching allowed. Its written in the regulations handbook" which I was not given to read. I seriously dont understand how showing someone (that I met up with there) proper form on an exercise is training/coaching. Isnt that what were here for? Theyre suggestion was for me write the exercises down on a sheet of paper, give it to her, and do them on separate sides of the club. Smh. Newflash! When people meet at the gym, theyre there to work out together! Whats wrong with that??? Out the many clubs that I have visited, I have never seen an LA Fitness trainer/receptionist /employee, IN SHAPE!....Which is scary. This place lacks drive, competence, knowledge, integrity, and over all people skills. I cant help that I workout 4/5 days a week and look better than most of you! I absolutely hate this franchise and wish it could just be done away with already! Stop taking peoples money if youre not contributing to theyre well being. Never mind all of the trash thats always laying around, or the weights that are never reracked and scattered all over the place, or better yet, the "slop bodied" staff that struts around in LA Fitness gear, just harass me about showing someone that I came with proper form. To hell with this company, to infinity and beyond! "

A brand new facility that got built up when the old strip mall got torn down. I believe this used to be a bowling alley, perhaps? While some said this was probably the biggest LA Fitness around, this actually seems to be on the smaller side. Not to say that the equipment is bad; far from it. Barbell bars still have fresh grooves on them. All cardio equipment seem to be top of the line--the TVs turn off when you stop working out, which I found to be pretty neat. That said, this could also be a show of how big a part members play for the pleasantness of the facility. Users hog the free weight area longer than they should; some basically make themselves at home in one of the bench presses. I know youre working out, but some sections have BO so strong I could barely breathe. I got splashed drops of sweat repeatedly at the sauna by those that are just wiping them away without reservation. Trash is everywhere. People need to learn some gym etiquette. The location itself seems to be under less than ideal care, as well. Its like watching the Americas infrastructure--you build it up nice but you dont care for it so it goes to shi--I mean turd. If you want the members to stay cleaner and care for the facility, you need to be more proactive with it. Also, showers are already showing mildews. Area for showers and sauna has the smell of piss emanating from the toilet and urinal stalls. I dont know why this review is so long, or why I am so worked over it more than other locations. Its not a bad location, but the way its being run, the way members use it--itll be run down in a matter of years, if not months.

Going to continue my membership for awhile longer to give it a chance to evolve but Im not impressed. Alright if youre looking for cardio equipment, a little free weight space and standard machines (which do not have instructions on how to properly use). The stretching area with mats and medicine balls is very small, wedged in a corner and between a mirrored wall and machines. The gym also does not have space for members to do plyometrics, suspension (TRX), heavy ropes, etc. The only space with this type of training is reserved for trainers. There are also no heavy bags. When I asked at the front desk staff stated many other clients expressed interest but Corporate didnt believe the demographics support it. I asked if he could share my feedback with management he shrugged it off and suggested I come on a day when someone from corporate would be in town. The gym also does not have a towel service which is disappointing. Other LA Fitness locations offer this as a server. Decatur has cheap paper towel dispensers and hand sanitizer for the intent of whipping off machines after use. Finally, be prepared for the heavy sales pitch during sign up and after as well as the way over priced guest pass rates. I use to regularly bring guests to my previous gym but LA Fitness has only two options ongoing $20 a month for the member or $17.50 a guest. Guests also receive sales calls.

Great staff. Everyone is friendly and professional. My trainer is very knowledgeable and is very helpful. The facility is great and clean. The machines are all new so they work for the most part. Many of the exercise machines, such as the ellipticals, bikes, and stair climbers have their own TV. Some of the lockers have not worked since they opened up and there seems to be no sense of urgency to fix them. The only big problem is the air. They place is ridiculously hot and it doesnt seem to be getting better with summer temperatures rising. I contacted corporate via an email and dont see any changes yet since the staff are there sweating with the rest of us. Overall, the place is great and convenient so I am very happy.

This is literally the worst la fitness I have ever witnessed. They revoked my membership because others were attempting to get in the facility with my membership (not my barcode but my phone number).I didnt have no knowledge of any of this going on at all.One day I went to la fitness I entered the facility then gave a fellow friend my car keys to get something out the car. That friend then attempted to enter the facility(again without my knowledge). They then called me out the facility and told me my membership was revoked and to gather my things or they would call the police.I asked why they revoked my membership they said another employee witnessed me give my friend my barcode. This place has horrible managing.

Well today 6/6/2017 someone broke into my locker took what they wanted and left me without my credit cards...all while I was working out. I notified LA Fitness as soon as I found out what was stolen but havent heard anything yet. This kinda sucks and deters me from keeping my membership. Seriously considering some place else. Update on 6/7/2017 Op Manager informed me there has been a string of stolen property incidences in and outside and I was told that theyll make a note of it. No additional security in the parking area, No additional monitoring of the locker rooms, No signs will be put up... Just a note of it... Cool

This facility is the largest Ive been to. It is new, well equipped and has an ample cardio area on a second floor. Some reviews seem to differ regarding the attitude and responsiveness of the staff. Over the past 7 months since Ive joined, Ive found the staff to be cordial, helpful and generally interested in providing a good experience for members. If an individual staff member acts to the contrary, Im certain the manager, Mike, would want to hear about it. I would highly recommend this LA Fitness location.
