Beware customers! These people are really unethical and are likely to rip you off! My experience has been really bad after I tried to cancel my membership last year in 2014. I was given such a run around to begin with at that time...Finally I succeeded in getting them to cancel my membership after one month of unnecessary additional charges in April of 2014.. Then to my SHOCK, I found that because they had my earlier credit card information, they STARTED CHARGING MY CARD AGAIN ONE YEAR LATER! I suddenly found my card charged this March and April!!! Here are the details so that you can be warned and learn from my experience with these blatant cheaters!!..... I had informed this gym about cancelling my membership initially last year in March 2014 and had told them that I was moving away from the area and that it would be too far for me to use their gym any more. I was told at that time that I could not cancel over the phone and I needed to visit the gym and tell the manager in person! So I did so and was told that the membership would be duly cancelled. Later, I found to my surprise that they still billed me for an additional month of April 2014 even though I had moved on April 4th, had informed them earlier in due time and had not used the gym at all. Then when I called them to inquire about the new bill, I was told that I had to give the notice of cancellation in writing! So I gave a notice in writing. Finally, the billing stopped at that point. Then a year later, to my surprise, I suddenly found a charge in the amount of $20.05 for membership from this gym on my credit card statement on March 2015, one year after the cancellation! I have never visited the gym since March of 2014! When I called them immediately, I was told that I had an ongoing membership there and that they would continue to charge and that I should speak to their manager who would return my call. I was furious and told the lady who spoke to me that I had not had any membership there for over one year, had not used their services at all, that I had moved away from Duluth over a year ago and that is when my membership had been cancelled. In addition, I told her that there were no charges all this time and suddenly this charge had appeared on my bill! I suggested that perhaps there must have been some error? She refused to listen to anything I was saying, was most unhelpful, rude, and told me to wait for a call from the manager. Needless to say, I received no such call and called them back and left a second message. After this to my shock, there was a second charge again of $20.05 on my statement this month in April !This is a business that is completely unethical and is knowingly, deliberately charging me for services that I have never used!! There is no excuse for their behavior! I am a cancer survivor and do not need this kind of unnecessary stresses in my life! I suspect that they must be doing this as a regular practice...I am furious! I wonder how many other people have been charged falsely and ripped off?! I believe that this business needs to be investigated by the authorities for improper and unethical business practices.

I havent been in a few years but I had a membership for several months. Just letting you know. Things may have changed. Typical trip to Planet Fitness involves putting on my expensive gym clothes and taking a pre-workout selfie with an appropriate hashtag. When I get inside I immediately jump on one of the cardio machines, because thats where all the TVs are. I wouldnt want to miss Nancy Grace or Real Housewives, or any of the other important stuff on TV just because I was at the gym! After some light cardio I turn up the pace for a few minutes, until I start to sweat. Then I immediately dial back the pace, because sweating is gross. Go for another selfie at this point if my last one hasnt gotten enough Likes on Facebook. Then its time to hit the weight machines. I dont want to use heavy weights because that would make me bulky and fat, so I just do high reps and low weight because I want to be tone. Ill do enough reps until it kind of starts to hurt, then I stop. Dont want to risk an injury. At this point Ill take a post-workout selfie so everyone thinks Im physically fit while subconsciously wondering why Ive been coming here for two years and havent seen any improvement in my physique. Oh well. Sometimes I use the tanning facilities, because the cancer you get from fake sun is healthier than the cancer you get from the real sun. Duh. Then I head home and gorge myself in cookies as a reward for all the hard work I put in at the gym. I deserve it. But seriously, PROS: Cheap Almost 24 hour access Tons of cardio Nice locker rooms Clean, well organized facility CONS: Very poor free weight selection Not a very gym-like atmosphere Planet Fitness is a gym for people who dont want to go to the gym but know they need to go to the gym. Its a place for people to come in, sweat a little, maybe exert themselves, and then leave. If thats what you want this is the gym for you. This is not a gym for athletes or people who actually enjoy working out. Nothing demonstrates this better than the lack of free weight equipment: you have to know what you are doing with free weights or you can really hurt yourself. Planet Fitness opts for weight machines that are less effective but safer and more user friendly. This kind of softcore gym appeals to some people, and to each there own. But if youre an athlete and can afford better, go to a real gym.

I was a member at this location for several years and while I was never particularly impressed, it was cheap and I only needed somewhere to go about once a week when it was raining or too cold. But cheap is really the descriptive word here. The equipment feels cheap and just a couple years after opening half of the headphone jacks didnt work properly and the equipment started looking worn. Not to mention that the staff was totally sub-par. They would start turning things off a full 10 minutes before closing time and when I called to ask about a lost personal item at one point, they clearly couldnt have cared less. But the real "cheapness" of Planet Fitness was on display when I tried to quit. They nickle and dime you by making it as difficult as possible to quit. Be aware that you have to send a certified letter or go down there in person and sign a form just to terminate your membership! It was easier for me to quit cable and we all know how difficult that can be! And they still charged me the "annual fee", days after I had signed my termination form. When I asked for a refund, they hid behind "corporate" despite the fact that these locations are all franchises and are individually owned. They obviously could care less about individual members. I guess when youre operating a business on being the cheapest, its all about volume and not about service. I dont normally write a lot of reviews, but I felt it important to warn others about this experience. I will also say that I switched to the new LA Fitness just down the street from this PF location and I love it. $30/month, no sign-up fee, no "annual fee" and no contract. And its an amazing gym with very friendly, attentive staff and high-quality equipment.
