DO NOT USE THEM!!! Timeline: Context we live in Georgia and it July and had a sick 2 year old daughter. 2016 July 6: Our AC unit stops working, Jade Heating and Air comes out via American Homeshield and replaces the condenser fan motor. 2017 June 29: AC stops working call American Home Shield June 30: Piedmont Mechanical calls me and says the first time they can have somebody there is July 5th. July 5: Tim shows up, the fan motor had worked itself loose and the fan blade started slapping the inside of the condenser unit and eventually tore itself loose. Tim was adamant that it was installation error because there was a screw that needed to be inside the unit, sitting on top of it. Tim calls the owner and then tells me that he’s not sure what to say so they will cover it, so he left a very open diagnosis. Basically the fan came loose and caused a bunch of damage and the whole unit needs replaced. He said he would explain more when he talked to AHS, but said AHS needs to cover it because Jade screwed it up when they installed it. He said he would call it in and we should know something tomorrow. July 6: Still no word so wife called Piedmont and they said we would hear something by the end of the day. July 7: Still no answer so wife calls Piedmont in the morning, left voice mail. Noonish still nothing, wife calls and leaves another voice mail. Mid afternoon, still nothing wife leaves a little more pointed voice mail. Late afternoon, still nothing so wife leave a ….well a very pointed voice mail. Wife then calls AHS…on hold for 1.5 hours, gets a very nice CSR and explains everything. CSR was very sympathetic and tried to get somebody to help but said because Piedmont didn’t give enough info about the cause they couldn’t do anything. Said they were waiting on Piedmont to call back and tell them what they had told us…”it was an installation problem” and AHS said they would fix it. But they needed them to say it. July 10: I (Husband) call Piedmont and get through. The lady on the phone was very nice until she pulled up our account. Then her whole tone changed, she was very short and annoyed that she had to talk to me. She said that Shane (Manager) called AHS and gave them their diagnosis and it was in AHS hands. I then call AHS, they said they did talk to Piedmont and Piedmont said it appeared somebody had loosened the screws and it was not “normal wear” so they could not cover it. So Piedmont basically said screw these people and lied, because that is NOT what Tim said! Fastforward July 14: AHS agreed to send a second company out to look at our AC. Air Design AC and Heating came out, guy looked at it 5 minutes. Said the coils are fine, just needed a new motor and fan. Pulled one out of his truck and BAM in 30 min we had AC! So for 2 weeks we went without AC because Piedmont said the whole unit was bad and then got pissed at my wife and lied to AHS. Lessons learned….Wife – patience and let husband talk to contractors. Husband – never use Piedmont for ANYTHING!

This company is still horrible. I have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with these guys through my own cruddy warranty company American Home Shield. We had the guys come to the house to inspect and most likely recharge the unit. The service representative came out and inspected the unit and says "it seems you have about have charge on the unit." He explained that since the face plate read 3lbs that there is most likely about 6lbs in the unit at full charge. I explained that based on troubles we had the previous year, we most likely have a leak somewhere and I would like to get to get their opinion on where it was so we could correct the issue. He said that he couldnt and would not give any reason other than "I dont think you have any leaks." After about 15 minutes of conversation, he told me he would call his management. He did so and they said they would replace the evaporator - still no leak check on the system. Evaporator takes 5-7 days to get here (keep in mind we are still not sure what is leaking). They arrived 7 days later at their scheduled time and told me that I would need to pay $750 out of pocket. I ask for an explanation of the charges and they are billing me $250 for mastic seal (a $20 part at home depot that takes 5 minutes to apply) and $500 for recharging the system with 10lbs. I asked the guy how he got to the 10lbs number and if he knew what the unit actually held, he did not know. I said the previous guy who came to work on the unit said it only held 6lbs and it was at half charge. He said that the previous guy would have no way of knowing that - then, again, where is the estimate coming from? I said, okay, well I am at least not going to pay for the mastic seal they want to apply on the vent cover. I can address that myself. They said that if I did not want to cover the charges then they will not do any work. I said I dont mind paying for fair work, but right now everything they are quoting isnt adding up to work that needs to be done. Right now they have basically said that the guy who came out before either lied to me about the status of the system and I need to pay. I dont mind paying for a fair days work, but what I do mind is someone incapable of explaining how they came to the charges trying to strong-arm me and my family into paying an outrageous charge for unnecessary work. I dont know about you, but I work hard for my money and I dont like being swindled.

I would like to start by saying I do not write critical reviews but had to make an exception to warn others about Piedmont Mechanical Contractors in attempt to help them avoid doing business with these criminals. I contacted Piedmont Mechanical Contractors (located at 804 Garmon Park Court, Loganville, GA 30052) as directed by my home warranty company American Home Shield to repair my home 2-ton air-conditioning unit in July 2013. The service technician for the company arrived at my home and stated the evaporator coil needed to be replaced which would cost $1400. In addition, he stated I needed a wet switch, mastic, and PVC piping drain relocated for an additional $1500 which came to a total of $2900 to complete the work (a new unit would cost less). I stated the price seemed extreme and wanted a second opinion. The second estimate cost was only $1000. I contacted Piedmont Mechanical Contractors and spoke to the owner Robert Waye to discuss the massive discrepancy and asked for a detailed estimate for the work proposed and he stated it would only be provided after the work had been completed. Really? He finished the call by hanging up on me (great customer service). In the end, I used the 2nd contractor without issue. Please avoid Piedmont Mechanical Contractors as they should not be in business. If you would like additional horror stories just Google this company to see thousands unsatisfied stories from individuals just like myself. I hope this helps, stay cool and good luck!
