Bottom line up front: Pricing—typical; Quality of service—good; quality of work—poor; quality of parts—poor. From my experience, this location is not very capable of working on Honda Odysseys or Toyota Camrys. I had them look at my 03 Camry from some noise in my front suspension. They did some work, tightened some bolts, charge a couple hundred $, and the noise remains. Maybe just a fluke. My 07 Odyssey, however, has proven to be particularly difficult for them. They replaced the front struts; upon returning home, they made a (new) very loud knocking sound when going over bumbs. I called them up to tell them the problem, and they said to bring it back. It took 3 return visits before they eventually replaced both struts again. Now we only occasionally get the loud knocking sound. A few months later we had to get the alternator replaced. They also put in a new battery. Immediately after we started noticing some funny noises when the steering wheel was cranked. Within a couple weeks, the power steering fluid reservoir was nearly empty. The problem was a damaged hose coming out of the power steering pump (we took it to the dealership this time). The timing might be a coincidence, or it might be negligence when replacing the nearby alternator. Fast forward a couple more weeks and our battery warning light keeps coming on. So we take it back in to Car-X and it turns out a cable was loose on the alternator. A few months later we enter into the 0°F weather and the Odyssey will not start. We jump it, drive it for 15 minutes, have to jump it again. Presently, we let it idle for an hour between a couple of 20 minute drives. Should be fine, right? Later in the evening it started up fine. I thought we were out of the woods, but the next morning it wouldnt start again. By this point we are certain we are not leaving any lights on—I even checked to make sure the glove box light was properly switching off (and it turns off with the headlights, anyway). I finally looked at the battery to see that it only rated at 450 cold cranking amps @ 0°F! OEM is 550 CCA, not to mention most replacement options are well above that. I called Car-X up to tell them of there mistake and they are skeptical that they did anything wrong. They said to bring it in again and maybe they can get to it within 4 days.

When I started going to Car-X I thought it was good. Nice people, good prices, and they could take me to work if I needed it. Now, Ill never return to Car-X. I few months ago I had a wheel bearing replaced and I asked them to look it over and see what work my car needed. I was given as estimate over nearly $2,000, with the #1 priority being my fan clutch and the second being a tie-rod. I decided to wait until I had the money, since it was going to be nearly $700 just for the fan clutch. This morning I went to leave for work and heard a weird noise coming from my tire. Figuring it was probably the tie-rod, I went home and called the nearest auto repair place in town (I live out of C-U). I went to take my car to the auto place and it wouldnt budge, so I called the place to come and TOW MY CAR. They called me later to let me know that not only was the tie-rod HORRIBLE, my strut had become detached because of it. I was then told that if I had tried to drive my car this morning I most likely would have been in a horrible accident because of this. Now did Car-X tell me that the tie-rod was horrible and needed to replaced immediately? NO! And why didnt they tell me? Because they wouldnt have gotten that much money compared to the fan clutch. So, now Im left paying for my tie-rod, struts, alignment, AND towing charges. I will NEVER, EVER take my car back to Car-X and will make sure to tell anyone I know to never take their car their.

Ive had an overheating problem on the way to the Willard airport. I stopped by this CarX for a quick check due to some good review here. They charged me $104 for a just opening the engine. The nice thing is they gave me a free ride to Willard airport. After one day, a guy from CarX called me and told me that my car had a head gasket leak. The cost for fixing it is $2500. They also told me that my cylinders need replacement. The cost for each cylinder is $700 not including material costs of other things.... The total cost minimum is $2500 + $700 x 6, which is totally unreasonable since my car only worth about $3000. I would rather sell my car instead. Then, i reached a local mechanics suggested by a friend. After examined the car, he disagreed with CarX and said the problem i had is a timing cover gasket leak. He suggested me to fix it and change the thermostat. The total cost is $979, including car inspection and removing the check engine light. Thats totally solved my problem. After a few days, a girl from CarX called me and said they will do a price match if i can find someone fixing my car at a lower price. I just ignored her after all the disappointments with CarX overpriced quote. Unless you are rich and really love CarX, dont go for it. It will severely hurt your wallet. There are many honest and excellent mechanics in town.

To quickly summarize: CarX is quick, affordable, and honest. I would highly recommend this place to anybody in the CU area that needs car repairs/maintenance. Details of my experience(s) below... I hit a pothole and developed a flat tire on my way to work about 2 weeks ago. My tire was too flat to make it to my (former) regular service provider, but luckily, I was able to make it to CarX on S. Neil St. Despite my flat tire, I was still able to beat my boss to work, thanks to their shuttle service! Since that my flat tire two weeks ago, Ive had 3 different cars serviced by CarX, making them my new maintenance & service shop. I cannot say enough good things about this place. CarX has been fast, friendly, and affordable. They were honest with me when I thought I needed service that wasnt necessary, saving me some serious money. Their shuttle service has been very convenient, they have called me and let me know my options and pricing with different service items, and my kids loved their popcorn! In a nutshell, if you live in the CU area, and you have a car that needs serviced, you should give CarX a shot.

I always get the best from Car-X! The prices have always been great and they even have a price match guarantee. Rob, the store manager, told me if another shop is cheaper just get an invoice from that location and bring it in and they will match it! The techs here always give me a thorough run down of whats going on with my car and explain what they did and what needs to be done to maintain my car. And the techs are ASE certified! The store has a frame of all ASE certified techs and their certificate which has the what they are certified in and when it expires. I thought that was pretty cool! Love the waiting area. There is coffee and popcorn and they even have WIFI so I wasnt bored out of my mind waiting for my oil change to be done. If you need any mechanical work done, I recommend Car-X! They have never steered me wrong :)
