This daycare was recommended to me by several people. I am so glad I listened to them. Heidi is a great director, she is personable and professional. There are so many good things about this place I will try to summarize but just know if you are considering a daycare in Champaign, this one should be very high on your list. The teachers are friendly, they are great with the kids. My daughter has been there for over a year (she is 21mo old at the time of this review), and she has been with mostly the same children the entire time. Somehow these teachers are magic, I have done several random drop ins, during nap time, they get all the toddlers to lay on their cots, during meal times, they get them to sit at their tables, getting one toddler to do that is a feat all its own, I have no idea how they do it with an entire group of them. All babies/children have their moments, and these teachers are well versed in how to calm them down. My daughter was in a in-home daycare from 7weeks to 4 months, when I switched her to La Petite she wasnt taking her bottle. Heidi and the teachers went above and beyond to help her get to eat and they called me to let me know if she ate or if she didnt eat. It took a couple weeks, but after that my daughter did just fine, she started sleeping better, she was happier, I am so glad I made the switch. When it was time to sleep train my baby so that she could get on a good schedule, again the teachers went above and beyond the call of duty, sleep training didnt take very much time at all and for me getting more than 6 hours of sleep was a godsend. They were very good with the fact that I was exclusively breastfeeding, they were careful with the milk, making sure not to have it sit out or use too much in one bottle so that very little was wasted. Even when it was time to stop using the pacifier they were up for the challenge and it took no-time to get her napping with no pacifier. There arent many negatives, if any, one of them should be taken with a grain of salt. This is a college town, a lot of the people who are working are also working on their degrees, this means when they graduate they are going to leave or go to a different job, so yes there is turnover here, but that is the same as any business in a college town. I love the fact that the teachers that are hired are well educated and have credits or degrees in early childhood education. It isnt just some random person who needs a job, it is someone who has a passion for working with and educating children. Above all this is a great place, they work with each parent to make sure their child is cared for in the way they would like them to (be it formula or nursing, cloth or disposable diapers, paci or no paci). I know my daughter is in great hands, if there is a problem I know they will call me if it is something serious. I cant say enough good things about this place. Take a tour, do a random drop in, you wont be disappointed.

To anyone who’s looking for the best in early education, Our 2 year old son Mason attended La Petite academy for an entire school year, during witch time he was taught critical life-skills and fundamentals that will no doubt be the foundation for a lifetime of learning! We can whole heartedly say that the staff at our La Petite Academy have always shown the upmost professionalism and genuinely care about their students. After looking at a variety of schools online we happened to discover La Petite. Learning more about the strong academic curriculum and highly qualified staff we knew this was the academy for us! Touring the facility was great, we were able to see the outside play areas and classrooms. We were also able to see the kitchen where the academy’s meals are not only freshly prepared, but were very nutritious and beef free! We were always given daily reports telling us how much he ate , how long he napped, what books he enjoyed reading, and what projects and fun things he had done that day. These reports made for great dinnertime conversation and helped his mother and I feel more connected to his day. In addition, every two weeks we were given a lesson plan/outline from his teacher offering ideas and projects we could do at home. We can’t say enough about how great the teacher/parent communication is at this academy. Our sons’ direct teacher took the time to voice concerns, and give helpful constructive suggestions. There was also an open invitation extended to all parents to meet with her and observe her class on any given day. We feel his teacher played a key role in our sons’ speedy toilet training, wonderful group social skills, and great dining etiquette. We have observed a growing sense of independence and confidence in our son in everyday tasks such as wanting to put his own clothes on, and cleaning up after himself. We know they care about their students and want to see them be the best they can be! We are very excited to have our son home with us for the summer months, and are already pre-enrolled for next school year! We want to personally thank everyone at the Champaign Il La Petite for all they have done. Have a great summer, and see you all next school year! Sincerely yours, The Robinson family

Kudos to La Petite Academy for being techy and going paperless! I love getting my childs "daily report" as it builds up - via email and app. I can now go and pick up my children and know about how they ate, slept, et cetera before I walk in the door. It lets me plan the evening a bit better and is a great way to stay assured of the level of care all day long while Im at work. Now if I have a question about the report, I can ask it while the teacher in question is still there, instead of at the end of the day when staffing is reduced (as they leave in proportion to when children leave). Ive also had to travel out of town recently for work, and the director, Heidi Parker, set everything up for childcare at a different La Petite in the city of destination. It was seamless, and I really appreciate that. I always get timely feedback from Heidi if I have any question or concern. I had children in both infant rooms as well as preschool and pre-K there. I was happy with the pre-school and pre-K rooms because of the consistency and rare turnover. There was a good quality education going on and communication was very good. I was happy with the infant rooms because of the way my input was taken into consideration. I had a lot of input at the teacher and management level (which is normal when you have a baby who cannot yet express their own needs by themselves) and those questions and suggestions were always met with responses and/or results. Both of my children have been very happy at La Petite. I am one of the more harder to please parents, and Ive seen other childcare situations either first or second hand. After going through baby, toddler, and young child stages with La Petite, I have decided to give them five stars.
