Yule and Vivian are the absolute best. Not only do they offer some of the highest quality tailoring in the city, but they are two of the most genuinely kind people Ive ever met. I had not been to Fame in a few years but I recently took a coat in to be altered on a very cold day, and after the coat was measured for alteration, Vivian realized that it was close to their business closing time and she was concerned about me walking to the train in the cold. She insisted that she and her husband give me a ride to the train, and then I was floored when Yule actually drove me all the way home instead. I could not believe the kindness and compassion they both showed, and while I never would expect a business owner to make such a gesture (especially to someone they had not seen in years or necessarily remembered), I could not stop smiling with gratitude as the moment unfolded. The whole ride, they both spoke of how they view their customers as friends and how its not uncommon for them to extend such gestures to others, and it was easy to see how much happiness it brought them both to do so. Ive been sold on their business for a long time based on the quality of their work, but after this, I will go to them for all cleaning and alteration needs for as long as I live in Chicago.

I had a fantastic experience with Fame Cleaners these past couple of weeks. The owners/workers were extremely helpful. I came in with a bit of an unusual request, to have a zipper fixed on an expensive tempur-pedic mattress cover. They were very generous with their time on multiple occasions to help me find the right zipper pull to repair the cover. After I found the right zipper pull online, they fixed the cover for me and just charged me a few dollars for a few stitches that needed to be made. I was impressed with their willingness to help, especially since I had received a quote (from a different alteration place in wicker park) of between $100-200 to replace the entire zipper. Needless to say, Im happy that Fame Cleaners suggested I would not necessarily have to do that, and suggested a significantly cheaper fix with the same result. They were very genuine about wanting to help and were very kind, and you could simply tell they are nice people. I would return for other cleaning/alteration needs with no hesitation. Fame is average at best. Theyre timely (but so are ALL dry cleaners), and their prices are pretty high. My primary issue was that a series of my dress shirts came back with cuts all in the same spot on the arm. They were all in the same crease, but the owners insisted that it was because of normal wear and tear and not because of their service. Well, these were new Brooks Brothers shirts, so I really doubt its from wear and tear. Ive never had this issue with any other cleaners, and The other issue I had with them was that they sent the wrong shirt back with me, and insisted that it wasnt their fault but mine. Now, I wear a 16.5/36 shirt, with almost all being from BB. This was a 17/43 from some unknown brand. There is ZERO way that I brought this shirt to them. They obviously did a switch, but are denying any fault. Oh, and quite a few of my shirts came back with black spots from the cleaning that, again, the owners insisted were my fault and not theirs. Go elsewhere!

Ive been a loyal customer at Fame Cleaners for just over four years, but was very disappointed by a recent interaction. Unfortuantely, a bridesmaids dress that had been dry cleaned was ruined in the process (cups in the bust shrunk into folded balls). The day of the wedding I was forced to cut open the dress to remove the cups. I returned with the dress the following day expecting sympathy and a refund, but was told it wasnt their fault and that it was the manufacturers problem. After respectfully explaining my point of view as a dissatisfied customer, I was yelled at and very reluctantly given a refund. I was told never to return, because she didnt want customers like me. Ive spent $1000s of dollars with Fame over the years and was shocked by horrific customer service I received.

I was officiating as wedding, and the tailor I originally use did a terrible job, shortened my pants without tapering, they looked ridiculous. The morning of the wedding, I called Fame Cleaners, and they said they could help. I went in immediately, they did their thing, and later that day my pants had been saved! I was so impressed with the alterations, I recently went back to them to have them tailor the suit Im wearing at my upcoming wedding. Just picked it up a week ago, and its perfect. This place can be trusted with important alterations!

Fame are absolutely top notch. The lady who runs the place is a trained dress maker and as a result, her recommendations on what is possible relative to material & design, as well as her pinning skills, are highly accurate. Dry cleaning is also excellent, though not in house, so not instant, but worth it.

Great cleaners when I lived in the area! They will remember your name which is really really convenient and are nice to ask how you are doing? Unfortunately I dont live in the area anymore but, if I did I would most assuredly go back.

My alterations are always on time and performed with great quality. Plus they are super friendly and accommodating. I drive 21 miles to their location because they have always been reliable and trustworthy.

Fast turn around. The presses are done too wet and leave stretch and crease marks in fine garments. Make sure you ask them not to do this.

Had my suit pants adjusted to be more slim fitted throughout the entire leg and they look great! A little pricey but Id say its worth it.
