So I am changing my review from five stars to one. I dont believe my situation is unique after reading some of the other one stars. I reviewed them initially after my first visit and have gone back quite a bit since with unsatisfying results and/or feeling like they are trying to take advantage of me. I started coming here about five years ago or so. My first experience was great, or I initially thought. However a few days after my car left the shop, it was broken into and my stereo went missing along with a few other minuscule items. At first I was like eh its Chicago it happens but then I saw that there were a few other reviews on here that claim their stereos were stolen as well. Plus, nothing was broken (no windows broken, nothing damaged, almost like my key was duplicated). It was definitely a set scene and they knew what they were after. Things were scattered in a way to make it seem like it wasnt planned. It was pretty obvious but I didnt really put two and two together until later on down the road. A few years went by and I had no problems with my car so I didnt take it in. I then got in a wreck and took it back to them. They fixed my fender and it looks great; however, the headlight doesnt shape to fender properly and it doesnt fit flush. They rigged it to where you wouldnt notice it unless you knew exactly what was wrong. They cut a portion of the back of the light off so it would look okay to the naked eye but it is not latched like it should be. Talk about trying to cover up mistakes. Also, during this trip I had them flush my radiator for typical maintenance. A week later my car started to overheat. So, I took it back to them and they said that the coolant was low, which I thought was weird considering they just changed it a week before. They said some connectors needed replaced on top of that, which they didnt they just wanted more money. They continued to say that they admit to mistakes but this wasnt as a result of their previous work, which I never blamed them to begin with so that was a red flag. It is important to note that the system wasnt leaking at all or losing any coolant (they even admitted that). At that point I just said get it fixed. After picking my car back up, the belts and pulleys were squeaking and the gas was drained completely (I had like 3/4 a tank before taking it in). The next day, I was having cooling problems AGAIN. That was it for me. So i took my car to another shop and had them look at my cooling system. After doing some research beforehand, I knew what to expect. They informed me that my cooling system wasnt bled properly and that was causing the problems, which is what I expected after looking into it. Havent had problems since and that was two months ago. Just goes to show that they dont really know what they are doing if they cant even bleed the air out of a cooling system properly. This is a simple task for those who dont know. I will note that they are very thorough and will tell you everything that is wrong with your car but if you look at it from the other end they are salesmen trying to get you to get things fixed that arent necessarily needed. Generally, I have been satisfied with the customer service but to me it seems the problems lie within the people doing the work and taking shortcuts. Also, their work is expensive and they tend to completely overcharge. The way I see it is if I am paying for more, it should be right the first time. i have no problem paying more for good work but when its not good work, its not worth it.

I am a professional driver and was travelling from S. Dakota to Ohio in my personal vehicle when it decided to break down in Chicago in the middle of the night. I got a tow to Logan Square Auto and waited for them to open. Once they opened I explained my situation and what I had already done to troubleshoot the issue. The owner Rick, allowed me to leave my vehicle there for several weeks as I was going to be over the road and needed time to build up some funds for the repair work to be done. Once they were able to diagnose the problem, they called me to get my approval. It was going to be a little too expensive with them providing the parts (from the dealership), so they allowed me to order my own parts and ship them to the shop. Once the initial repair work was completed (high pressure oil pump), they found that my starter was failing and called to get my approval to replace it on Friday afternoon. Friday night we started driving from S. Dakota to Chicago and of course Mother Nature decided we needed to travel in snow. I called and let Rick know we would be there late on Saturday due to weather and he stated that he would wait on us if we were not able to arrive by the 4pm close time. We arrived at 330pm and my truck was ready for us. Anyone familiar with older diesels know they dont like to start in cold weather and it was about 18deg at that time. After the work had been done, she fired right up with no problems and purred like a kitten the entire drive home. In close I highly recommend Logan Square Auto for any of your auto repair needs!! They were extremely friendly, very competent and willing to answer any questions that I had and the office always knew what the status of my vehicle was when I called and didnt have to go check with the shop!!

While they only had two mechanics for the nine cars, Julio treated me very well, went on a test drive with me, identified noises, explained and showed me what needed to be replaced and, more importantly, why, as well as the priority of each itemized repair and maintenance job. He didnt try to oversell me, which was pleasant. He caught issues Firestone had missed, such as my reverse light, license plate light, and a brake light that were missing, and even told me what parts were good that Firestone had said were bad. While an alley mechanic is cheaper, I think they are way more trustworthy and thorough. They are probably priced higher than Car X, but below Firestone, but are a good value. I was very happy with my experience and trust what they say more than the other mechanics I have seen so far.

I dont know how someone could give Logan Square Auto Repair anything less than a five-star rating. I am a single woman, so its hard to find an automotive repair shop that I feel I can trust. Well, I have been a customer here for over 8 years, so that should tell you something. I have always been very happy with the service Ive received and never felt I was being pushed into having service done that I didnt really need. They are very friendly and accommodating when I wait for service. They even offer to drive me back home or to my office so I dont have to wait. Pricing has always been fair. I would recommend Sterling to anyone; and I do all the time!

So my headlight burnt out a couple days ago and I swear I couldnt find one person to help me fix it. I went to a couple auto part stores and bought about 3 different light bulbs but no one knew how to install it until I came to Logan Square Auto Repair - the best car mechanic out there. Not only they were super fast they knew everything they needed to fix my car. Just by looking they knew I bought all the wrong bulbs but they had the right one in stock (which NEVER happens at auto repair shops), fixed it in 5 minutes, and price was completely reasonable. GREAT AUTO REPAIR. Highly recommended
