Updated review: Within minutes of posting my original 2 star review, I was contacted by On The Gos owner. I could tell right away that he takes customer service to heart, as he said price didnt matter to him as much as us being happy with the service we received. I was blown away by his comment because I feel that most companies are losing touch with customer service, so I really appreciated his concern. Apparently the technician we dealt with was a freelance locksmith, which On The Go uses during busy times in order to get their customers into their homes ASAP (totally understandable). He apologized for any confusion, although it was not any fault of his own, and offered to refund part of the price we paid because of the initial cost confusion. I cannot blame On The Go for the confusion I experienced with the freelance technician, and I appreciate the owner sincerely wanting his customers to be pleased with their experiences. 5 stars for the customer service! Original review: I used this company today and was very confused by the billing process from start to finish. We have used another locksmith company in Chicago before, and the cost was much lower than it was today with On The Go. I wouldve used the same company today, but coincidentally I locked both my phone and keys inside my house. Thus, I had to borrow a neighbors phone to call a locksmith and just called the first one I found on Google. Now, my On The Go technician was very polite and arrived promptly after my call (within a half an hour or so). However, I was very confused when he was discussing the pricing prior to opening the house. First he said $85 for the lock, but then he said $160 for breaking the lock to get in. Then, he said, "Ok, so it will be $185 with the lock." At that point I was confused and would have called another company if I had the chance, but again, my phone was locked inside my home. So, I agreed and let him break my lock and replace it. While breaking and replacing the lock, the technician was polite. However, he went back to his truck a few times to get tools, and each time he left the main building door open. Since he was leaving the building outside door open, as well as my units door, my cat ended up outside! I assumed the technician was watching the door, and I didnt want to stand over him the entire time. But luckily I felt inclined to go check on my cat and saw him walking outside the apartment building! Its not the technicians fault that my cat is curious, but I wouldve appreciated him being more mindful of leaving both doors wide open (because he knew I had a cat). Finally, when paying the technician, he said it would be $198 after tax. 10% tax charge?! That seemed pretty outrageous to me, but I couldnt refuse at that point because the service was complete. I called the company later to get a clarification of the bill, but all I was told was that I knew the price ahead of time. I know other locksmiths in the area charge much less, but I guess thats all in hindsight now. They completed the job, but the bill was way over-priced in my opinion for what he considered a basic lock and doorknob.

Amanda at On The Go Locksmith is awesome! I had just bought my first home and my first night there the previous owners boyfriend started to let himself into MY new home with a set of keys that hed apparently kept, despite being told I had all keys at closing! Needless to say I was really upset and hadnt planned on changing the locks the first day it was mine, but realized I needed to. I called On The Go because the ratings were excellent. They exceeded expectations. I had a locksmith respond to the dispatch call within minutes, who gave me numerous options to choose from for my lock (most affordable, $75 to replace lock and included service/installation) up to the most heavy duty lock set I could buy (which is what I opted for and $250 which included all labor, the lock, etc. and I felt is reasonable for the quality of the lock). She was at my new home within an hour, and did an amazing job, which didnt seem like an easy task: She needed to sand the door frame a bit, replace the whole lock, etc. due to the way my existing lock was configured. Ive since had to contact Amanda to change my mailbox key (apparently the previous owners of my home have boundary issues) and she promptly got the job done. I cant describe the peace of mind Ive had as a result, and highly recommend Amanda/On The Go!

Amanda with On The Go Locksmith is AMAZING! My husband and I got locked out of our condo because the battery on our electronic lock system died without warning. Before I found On The Go I was told by 2 other companies that they could not help me out without completely destroying my electronic door system (which was not cheap). Amanda came within the hour and knew exactly what to do! She was professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable! She was able to get me back into our condo pretty quickly without destroying our devise. I would use Amanda again in a heartbeat and would recommend her to anyone who is locked out!

I locked myself out of my house and did a quick search and found this company. It was about 9pm on the 4th of July so I wasnt expecting anyone to get back to me soon and thought for sure Id be up charged. Neither was the case. The technician reached out to me within minutes and was at my house within 20 minutes. She was really friendly, explained everything she was doing, and got me back in my house quickly. Best of all everything was reasonably priced. Definitely recommend this company and my technician. Thanks a million!

My car locked me out when the battery died cause I did not have the door key. They came right away and charged me healthily to open my car. It took less than five minutes and cost me well over $100. Prompt, pricey service. I was quoted only $25 as a service fee, but was told the estimate is when they get there. But when they get there, you just want to get ur done. I shelled over the cash, cause I just wanted to be done. At least they came right away. Guess you gotta pay to play.

Amanda at On The Go Locksmith did an amazing job for us. My wife and I just bought our first home and we were able to change all 5 of the locks and replace them with new keys. They were able to book our appointment within hours and allowed us to know we were the only ones with access into our house. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a locksmith.

Eli was great. Gave me lots of options. Professional, speedy service. Though he was unable to fix my old mortise lock, he did install a brand new quality lock in my old, solid-wood door, and keyed it to my existing key so my tenants werent inconvenienced. Price was a little more than I was expecting, since I was told by On the Go that they could fix my old lock.
