Ive met only one exemplary employee here in the two years Ive lived in the neighborhood. There is a sign right on the wall that says "skip the line; pay online and just drop off your package at the post office"; I do this frequently and they often lose their minds, sometimes even telling me I need to wait in the line just to drop off a pre-posted package! Im like, crane your head out the window and look at your own sign, doofus. Once I waited for over a half an hour and brought up a package and asked what the cheapest way to send it was. She weighed it and told me my cheapest option, then told me Id have to GO BACK TO THE END OF THE LINE to fill out the mailing label. Not step to the side and let the next person go ahead of me while I filled it out, but wait in line another half an hour. She also told me I could not just write the address on the box but that Id have to pay for a package of plain white labels! I said Id come back another day when thered be hopefully someone working who was better with people and left. Just today I brought my bike in at 6:50 while I used the kiosk, which took about 10 minutes. Theyd already locked the door so a woman came to unlock it...and merely unlocked it. Im standing there with a bike and she didnt even make a rudimentary effort to crack the door open for me. Its not her job, but it is just normal human behavior to open the door for a tiny woman pushing a bicycle; Ive been in customer service all my life and cant imagine purposely being that much of a jerk. Another time Id ordered an item from Russia and it had been a long time coming, so I wrote the vendor who said tracking confirmed delivery had been attempted over a week earlier. I went to the post office asked after the package, and they said I was lucky it was still there and lucky they were giving it to me without providing a delivery notice; no apology or explanation was given for THEM not leaving ME notice that delivery was attempted.

Is 0 stars possible. Absolutely legendary incompetence and lack of care. I ordered a set of headphones 2 weeks ago that was sent by USPS Priority mail with tracking info. That shipment arrived in Chicago but never got delivered; I was told that the USPS truck was broken into and the packages were all stolen. So I got a refund and placed a new order, requesting expedited shipping. The seller selected USPS priority 2 day service. The package tracking info showed that it left the USPS Oakland facility at 12:55 pm on Tuesday, December 1 but the tracking info hasnt been updated since then. I spoke to the letter carrier who said he hadnt seen any packages and suggested contacting the Uptown post office. I called them at 1:05 pm and got a message the office was closed even though their posted hours were until 3 pm, so I called the main 800 number where I was told the hold time was in excess of an hour. I tried a back line at the Uptown post office and got through to someone who pulled up the tracking number and said that the tracking info hadnt been updated because they hadnt received the package yet. I asked how that was possible since it was now Saturday, 4 days since it had departed using 2-day priority service. He stated that the 2-day isnt a service guaranty, its just an estimate and that the shipping time could be 2-10 days.

Mail delivery unreliable. When I mail items to family in 60640 from my home post office in NJ, they tell me 3-4 days. Mail has never been delivered in that time frame! 1. Packages tracked as "delivered", usually delivered 2-3 days past the day they were scanned as delivered. 2. I have mailed identical items to DC, Cincinnati, and Chicago at the same time. Cincinnati and Chicago should be same time frame, Chicago always big delay. Never delivered within acceptable time frame. 3. Mailed a card on 10/26. Post office here said should arrive 10/29 or 10/31 at very latest. Today is november 4!! Not there yet. Hmmmm....could it be because it was a greeting card, sometimes there are checks or gift cards mailed in greeting cards??? Hmmm, it got "lost"???? I saw all the negative reviews about the mail delivery. Why is no one doing anything about it? Title 18 Code 1708. Mail theft, mail tampering, etc.... Feel sad to complain about USPS, because relatives were mail carriers back in the day when it was an honored profession, and the USPS was a reliable institution. Now, it is a hot mess. I would just send mail to their office, but not sure if other post offices are equally as bad in other parts of Chicago. Great city, Chicago. Go, Cubbies! Mail delivery a mess.

I love this area but hate it means I have to deal with this post office. I have gone in to pick up a package and everyone was rude. Not too long ago they started sending "Delivered" notifications when the packages havent been delivered. They first send the message so its marked in the system and with Amazon (or whoever you purchased from) that it has arrived at its destination - only it hasnt. This has happened to me repeatedly. The last time it happened, I had done 2 day shipping and they had it marked as delivered on the right date, but I didnt get it until 2-3 days later. I asked the delivery mailman, they said it was back at the post office. I called the post office (rang and rang, finally picked up and hung up on me, then I finally got a person when I called back) and they said it was out for delivery so I couldnt pick it up. Now its happened again. I got notification last night that something was delivered - it wasnt. I have now received a package today, only this is not what was marked as delivered yesterday. This is all just too frustrating. What can they not figure out??

I, and about 5 other people, strolled in 5 minutes before closing on a Saturday, and even though I am sure the staff hates those people, I had great service. The cashier quickly gave me the supplies and postage I needed. The man working in the lobby saw me taping up my boxes like an idiot and stepped in to help me so that they were sealed properly and done in less time. All the employees were friendly and treated me with respect. I was in and out in 20 minutes (most of which was me replacing prohibited duct tape with packing tape) I was there earlier on a Saturday a few weeks ago, and it was a bit hectic. The passport line took awhile and there was an argument between a customer and an employee. I feel like the employees are nice and try to be as efficient as possible but sometimes it is busy.

Sad excuse of a post office. They will do everything in their power not to help you. Dont even think about going in to pick up a package because they will either tell you that its already out with the carriers or you will supposedly get it tomorrow. I had a package delivered by UPS to here because its not safe for me to have packages left out by my apartment since theres no mailroom. It was delivered there not even an hour prior, told them I wanted to pick it now NOW, and told me to come back tomorrow morning. As if they couldnt go back and get it for me since I was there. I have never dealt with an enormous amount of incompetence and laziness before in my life. I just hope to god all of these complaints get taken into consideration so that we can get a completely new staff.
