Xsport seems to me like a complete scam. i have the worst experience with them i have ever had with any other company. i honestly think they are worse than Comcast. Thank you Xsport for scamming me out of and taking my hard earned money. Not that anyone elses hard earned money is less important but when your a single mom of 3 and your just trying do the little that you can for yourself to be healthier to take of those kids, that last thing you need is a greedy, for -profit gym taking advantage of you just to get those sales. So i joined on 10/21/16. I was talked into a personal trainer package deal. Yes i am a little bit at fault for being gullible. i had explained i have never actually worked out in my life and i need to get healthy. i was convinced that i needed to learn the proper form and way to do exercises correctly so i get the benefit and dont hurt myself, which sounds reasonable and truthful. that i will not deny. i did explain that i did not want to start right away because i just want to get in the habit of fitting gym time in my schedule. i am a single mom of 3. i was told i should do the 1 free training consult and go from there.i paid a certain amount upfront which was supposed to be the downpayment for the training sessions and my first month membership. a week later i was charged for my monthly memebership, then 2 weeks after that i was charged 9.95, which im now told is a annual memebership fee. i was never even told that there was a annual fee. and it hadnt even been a month since i joined let alone a year. The training sessions i bought a package of 24 because i was told it lowered the price by $15 per session. its supposed to come out in bi-weekly payments. they have been taking them out on the wrong weeks. i talked to the supposed manager 2 weeks ago and was supposed to get a call back. i never did. i call back today to be told the guys name i had written down was wrong i actually talked to a steve not a mike and steve no longer works there and that is why i did not get a call back. now im waiting on corporate. i told the manager mike today i no longer want to do the personal training. he says that is technically a contract and i cant return them! I was never told any such thing. How are you going to charge me for something im not even using? i was never told it was a contract. i was told i was signing to approve the automatic debit from my account for the bi-weekly payments. And i was charged again for today for my monthly membership. which i joined exactly a month ago but have now paid 3 times. Xsport seems to me like a complete scam. i have the worst experience with them i have ever had with any other company. i honestly think they are worse than Comcast. Thank you Xsport for scamming me out of and taking my hard earned money. Ive been a member at the Darien Xsport for roughly 2.5 years now, and Im satisfied with my experience, mostly. The gym is usually clean, considering its high traffic, and has all the machines and barbells that I could ever need. Plenty of equipment for practically any workout, however, this is not a gym for powerlifters. If youre looking for cardio, strength training, or aerobics, this is the place for you. I work out 3 times a week, usually from 1am-3am and there is hardly ever anyone else in the gym, aside from an employee who is usually cleaning or doing laundry. I prefer the quiet and lack of salesmen during the midnight, which brings me to my only piece of criticism. Xsport is heavily based on a high-profit model. They will absolutely nickel and dime you, and do everything in their power to get more money out of you. In the past two years, Ive been lied to to upgrade my membership from $10 a month to $20 a month, with the promise that I could go to the Downers Grove gym as well, only to learn months later, that I actually dont have access to that gym. Additionally, Ive been lied to about personal training sessions. I was told, after explaining to their salesman manager (Dylan, at the time) that I cant afford PT sessions, that he could slash the price to $100 for 10 sessions. Sounded too good to be true, and I made a mistake signing up. He had charged me $100 per month, for 3 months with a $50 down payment. I guess you could argue it was on me for skimming over the contract, but I cant gloss over the fact that I was outright lied to twice. Always get everything in writing. They also refused to provide me with a copy of the contract I had signed, saying "We dont keep contracts here, I dont know where it went" and having no luck with the people online or over the phone. Was a ridiculous ordeal. All that being said, when I downgraded back to my standard membership and complained, the current manager apologized profusely and offered to give me a free month as compensation. I accepted, but have yet to receive that free month and I have no faith that I ever will receive it. Its not a big deal to me since I can spare the $10 and dont care to get involved further, but I cant overlook the fact that 3 Xsport managers have lied straight to my face to meet their quota. Awful business practice, but Im still a member since its the best gym in the area at the moment, so I guess Im not very committed to my statements. As long as you avoid being sold things and shut them down anytime they offer things, this is a fine gym.

Xsport has manipulative predatory contract practices. Instead of your annual renewel occurring at the end of the first year, they charge it 1 month after you join and every year after. This effectively double charges customers the first year. Its written in confusing fine print. Oh and that booklet that they show you when you sign up, do you ever wonder why they dont let you read it yourself? Its because they have created fake membership fees to try to extort people who arent confident enough to barter with the salesman. This company is predatory and i feel bad for my friends who are being over charged by them. The only customers who enjoy xsport are ones who are too ignorant to realize that xsport is gouging them.
