Im a little torn here since the actual guys that did the move were so good and professional. My review centers squarely on the owner Chris. My wife and I had 2 homes....moved them to storage...and then moved from storage in 2 moves to a bigger home. GoodMove (GM) did the entire job. Things go wrong in all businesses. Its how you react to the problems is what counts. Trust me to anyone reading this review...any company you hire will have a bump or 2 with your move. If you select GoodMove you will get an owner that wont make an effort to fix the issue at hand but merely try to argue with phrases like "well, all other moving companies do this too" or "sorry, I am too busy to attend to your problem." Before I list only SOME of my issues I want it to be clear that I have saved emails, pictures and tons of items to document my FACTS below. 1. We had a moving target move date at first. We had a date back in Sept we had to cancel. Then we had a date in Nov that needed to move by 1 week. I learned of the delay while on a business trip so I (stupidly) called Chris instead of an email where we confirmed the move date of Nov 21. Multiple calls around the new date (I now have call logs from the phone company to prove these calls). The date came and the trucks did not. I called Chris in a panic and he proceeded to argue. Not to fix it but to argue. As if I screwed up the only date I cared about for that entire month. Like I got it wrong. It took my screaming to get him to find a truck and guys somewhere and get the move started. We all have moved dozens of times. How would you feel if on the date of your move your mover forgot about the date and then instead of fixing it started to tell you that you werent clear with him?? 2. We moved from 2 homes so Chris thought it best to have 2 shipments come on separate days to our new home. Fine. I spoke to him on the phone, text message and over email a number of times to confirm the 1st shipment needed to be our ENTIRE home from Central IL first. No problem. Day of the move we noticed no TVs on the shipment. We have a 3 yr old that didnt take kindly to Mom and Dad unloading boxes and not paying enough attention to him. Chris made the executive decision to remove the TVs from the shipment without EVER checking with me first. He saw how upset I was and made no effort to fix the problem except to argue. Then, a box with all of our bedding was missing so we were to sleep on bare mattresses that night. I called Chris countless times. Texted him countless times. No reply from 1pm all the way till 7pm. He finally responds and says "Dan - I cant speak with you now. Im sorry. I will call you in the morning." Hows that for service?! Thats an actual verbatim text I saved for anyone to see. 3. There was over $600 of damage to our property during the final move. Fine. We filled out the claim paperwork and submitted to his Admin. He tells us hell have the claim closed in 60 days even though law says 90 days. Wonderful. 90 days go by and nothing. I have to continually email (learned my lesson) him to get a resolution. Nothing. One reply was "Ive just been avoiding the fatigue and anguish I know I am going to experience after this conversation." Thats an actual quote. It took my call to the Illinois Moves Association to get him to even address my issues. His answer?(paraphrasing) "You filled out the form wrong. Youre entitled to $33." Folks, this is too long already. My issues above are well documented and truly the tip of the iceberg. I could write about no less than 10 things that went wrong during the moves but there was one common thread: Chris unwillingness to take ownership and try to resolve the issue. Feel free to ask me questions and to doubt any response you see from the Owner until you see the stack of emails, texts and notes I have from the worst move(s) I have ever experienced.

In August, we had Good Move Movers load a moving truck for us, which we then drove over 700 miles. Art supervised the affair, and had Miguel and Alejandro working alongside. It was literally amazing what they were able to do. In under the 3-hour minimum they were able to pack a 26 Uhaul truck as an unbelievably complex version of box-and-furniture-Tetris. The truck was full—floor to ceiling, front to back. Not only that, but when I got out at the end of the 715 mile drive and opened the door, it looked *exactly* the way it did when I closed the door before leaving. Those three guys worked with amazing precision, at an amazingly tireless pace, and all the while with huge smiles on their faces (somehow managing to squeeze small conversations in with us in that short time). And just to provide reference, it took some movers we hired at the destination longer to unload the same into a first-floor storage unit than it took Art, Miguel and Alejandro to pack our tri-level house, garage and shed into the truck. I cant say enough good about these guys, and wished I couldve had them at both ends of our move.

Ive moved a lot and Ive had bad movers and good movers but these people are exceptional. Even the "good movers" Ive hired have some kind of issue. My most recent move with Good Moves was flawless. From the beginning, Chris makes everything so easy and the pricing is clear. Immediatly he makes you feel like he cares about pleasing the customer and doing a good job. There is a plenty of communication. The movers showed up on time (in 6 moves, Ive never had movers on time) they were so nice, very efficient yet still meticulous and careful, very, very professional. Immediatly they make you feel comfortable and that they really care about doing a good job. And the price is so good. I cant believe he doesnt charge 3x as much for the level of service he provides. And there are no "hidden fees" that suddenly get tacked on at the end when its time to pay. I know that when we move again I will hire them again. If you are looking for movers, dont waste your time calling one else - you wont find anyone better than Good Move.

This was the first time Ive used movers, and Ill absolutely use Good Move again in the future. The movers were very fast and courteous. The movers were very conscientious of the time -- there was no stalling for time and they advised me on what I could do during the move to save time. I was very impressed by this -- it shows they are truly concerned about the customers experience over getting another 30 min of pay out of the customer. I admit that I was slightly concerned at first over how quickly they were going, but they were very professional and after seeing the care with which they packed the truck, my concerns were alleviated. At the end of the day, I was very happy. Packing up the truck took about 1.5 hours, and unpacking took about 2. I moved the next town over, so they were done in 4 hours -- very fast!! I would recommend Good Move Movers to anyone -- friends, family, coworkers, strangers.
