Normally Im not one for writing reviews unless a service was that bad or excellent. Unfortunately, in this case my experience was bad. Usually when I go in to the post office the wait can be long but I generally dont have any issues. This time it appears that a package I was expecting was left when I wasnt home. This package is no where to be found so Im not sure if it was stolen or they still have it in their possession but marked it as delivered. I called to find out more information and see how this situation could be rectified but the lady who answered the phone was so cavalier and nonchalant it wasnt even funny. Took all I had not to tell her off. For starters, this is not the time of year to just leave a package anywhere with the potential for it to be stolen. If the person isnt home then leave the slip for them to pick the package up at the post office unless theyve instructed you to leave it. And most importantly improve customer service!

It is extremely upsetting to see that this is what our tax dollars are paying for. About 9 times out of 10 the post office in Evanston seems to misplace one of my packages being delivered internationally. Every single time I inquire about the lost package the person helping me at the window seems extremely confused and completely disinterested in helping me. When they finally get tired of dealing with you (after about 2 minutes) theyll send you over to a window to talk to a supervisor. After being ignored for a good 15 minutes youll be told that the supervisor isnt there and someone will be up to help you in a minute. About another 20 minutes later someone will come up to the window, shrug and say "I dont know what you want me to tell you. Well call you once we find your package." This is absolutely inexcusable. This post office at best is a sick joke and at worse a completely disgusting waste of tax payer dollars.

A extremely rude post office worker answered the phone and continued to talk over me very abrupt/loud. I asked to speak to the post master regarding a package I tracked online and before I could finish making my request she went on to say rudely... the post master does not handle calls and I replied thats not true...so let me speak to a supervisor then? She went on to make another excuse by stating the supervisor is not in and was about to hang up the phone until I said... well let me tell you why I am calling which she didnt want to listen but I got my point across and she finally stated my package will be delivered today. Now, I question why was it so difficult to get this post office worker to listen and answer a simple question in a professional polite way. JUST RUDE! RUDE! RUDE!

Worst possible customer service. Went in to drop off paperwork and pay for a passport, but was told I would need to take an hour interview and there was a three month waiting list. Since when is that a requirement (I know some places require an appointment for someone to go over all the paperwork, but I have not heard of an interview) The worker was rude and snotty. When I asked about the process, she said I should have done more research and that I was wasting her time. I asked to speak to her manager and she walked away to file packages! Finally got her to respond to me and she refused to give me her managers information. Stated I dont have to give you that. Got some name and number from her, but I question if this was a fake number. Will be calling later today.

Great vintage grand building, historical and classic. Customer service is spotty, honestly, but it is the post office afterall. They can be kind of rude...who knew? But, in comparison with the Central Street post office, youll see the difference. Central Street is awesome - friendly, local, funny, fast!!!, helpful. The main post office is just not that nice in comparison. the historical display is not maintained, dirty, messy, taped with letter size notices. The passport service is a pain in the butt. The line system is confusing. I hope they revamp their system, it wouldnt take much to rethink this place (the way it works to the customers) - kand with the great bones, great building youve got a good place to start.

Worst telephone service ever. Wont allow you to speak to an agent. Conflicting information depending on clerk I spoke to and which location I went to. Had to go back 4 times to complete transaction. Misplace mail all the time. Put in wrong mailbox, even though boxes are clearly marked. A month ago I got a letter postmarked a month earlier. Where was it all that time? Seem to get slower and slower with more and more poor delivery and counter service. In all fairness, when I went to the main post office on Davis a couple of weeks ago, a lady was helping people in the line while they waited. She was very polite and efficient. The big problems seem to be too few clerks and poor delivery service.

WE ARE GETTING OUR MAIL LATE! and been charged late fees on ceveral occasions. The latest, with the city of Evanston for a Wheel Tax For sent from the City Office last October 2016 arriving January 2017!!!? and we have 4 vehicles!! Terrible service. I tried calling to report the issue. So far the automated service will do everything to keep you from talking with a human being. Plain rude and says a lot about your customer service. First there is no option for customer service. When I was finally transferred, 1hr waiting with no answer! both English and Spanish! Even offering to answered their survey. (which was not going to be positive anyhow)

A trip to Evanstons main post office is an enjoyable step back in time; adults, and especially children, can enjoy the 1930s WPA Federal Public Art Works Display on the upper portion of the walls above the clerks windows and the architecture of the building itself with its stone & marble materials. The huge golden 3D Art Deco Postman is wonderful to behold, as is the old mail-cart on display in the lobby. The clerks who work there are very experienced and help out faithfully. This location also has the very easy to use self-posting machines for packages, so you can eliminate the need to wait in line.

Are these people accountable to anyone? Shouldnt they be liable for their actions, such as not delivering mail and providing false information about deliveries? I lost count of mail that has been misplaced. Right now, my tracking link shows that my package has been delivered 6 hours ago, but it has not! And it is Saturday, so I have been at home all day! Attempts to talk to the post office supervisor have been an exercise in frustration. Not only they do not provide any assistance, they verbally abused me! If someone knows of an effective way to deal with this "outfit," please post it.

The staff vary in their demeanor, some are very nice, others rather rude. But the most chronically infuriating aspect of the post office is their reluctance to open extra windows for service even during peak hours such as first thing in the morning, during holidays, or any other time. There can be 20 or 30 people waiting and suddenly the number of open windows goes from 3 to 2 because an employee mysteriously disappears to the back. Nobody seems to call for more help when there is an affluence of patrons, and as a result everyone in line is furious and frustrated.
