0 star if Google allowed it-- Buyers Beware. We signed a roofing contract with Opal Enterprises (material and labor) for a new residential construction to put on roofing shingles first, then copper canopy and flashing at a to be determined later date -- after bricks walls are installed, Day one when the roofing work began, roofing material was delivered to the job site and the roofing crew quickly put up shingles and completed them in four days -- Opal was paid 87% of the contract price a few weeks later. While my site manager was cleaning up the construction site a week and half after the roofing shingles were done, he discovered what he initially thought garbage (plastic wraps) turned out to be copper sheets that supposedly be used for a copper canopy and flashing -- at a later date. In a good faith effort, my site manager and I brought the material inside for temporary safe keep -- before being picked up by Opal. Joe the project manager from Opal called two days later looking for their lost copper material, the site manager informed Joe that we moved copper sheets inside for safe keep and instructed Joe to come and pick them up. Days later Joe called again claiming they did not find the copper material, this time the site manager gave Joe the exact location of the copper material and asked him again to pick them up. A couple of weeks after newly shingled roof had lots leaks after a heavy rain, I called Opal and report the leaks. The office person stated that Opal will take care the leaks at a (same) time when copper canopy and flashing is to installed. Fast forward to the day of copper canopy and flashing installation (2+ months after shingles were first installed), 2 guys from Opal showed up and asked for copper -- no copper was found at the job site. At this point I thought that there were office mis-communications and someone from Opal picked them up without letting their office know. After I explained that my site manager instructed Opal twice nearly two months ago and Opal may have already picked them up. The person on the phone replied "no we dont have the copper and you have them", At this point it was apparent that the copper was stolen. Three days later, I received a call from Opal office stating it was my responsibility to safe keep the (now stolen) copper roofing material. After explained repeatedly to Opal office on the phone that the contract was for Opal to supply both material and labor for the work, and my site manager and I made a good faith effort to temporary safeguard by moving the material from outside in plain view to the inside when the material was abandoned by Opal for a week and half. Additionally, I mentioned that my site manager asked Opal not once but twice to pick up the copper material. I further stated that neither the site manager nor I could be held responsible of safe guarding Opal roofing material at the construction site. The office person stated that the owner of the company will call to discuss this issue. More than a week went by and while the shingled roof leaks in many places -- no call from Opal. I called and asked to speak to the owner Mr. Opalski. Mr. Opalski got on the phone and started to blame me for the missing copper material -- after I explained to him that the copper material should never have delivered to the site on day one when Opal knew copper was not needed until much later, furthermore, his office was twice told to pick up the material. Mr. Opalskis answer was "no, we never found the copper and you were responsible". Mr. Opalski announced that he will not perform the reminder of the contracted roofing work and under his attorneys advice that he will bill me for (his) stolen material. Mr. Opalskis breach of a legally binding contract and his refusal to honor the terms of the contract, our construction project is now held up by leaky roof where no other work can be performed until the roof is fixed. This is my experience in dealing with Opal Enterprises of Naperville, in particular its owner Mr. Opalski -- Buyers Beware.

We live in southeast Naperville and in October of 2013, Opal replaced the cedar and stucco board siding on our 1970s house with Woodstock Brown Hardie siding, Arctic White trim, Alside vinyl soffit, Alside gutters and a JN Stone Bucks Creek Laytite stone facade. Opal also replaced the original R.O.W. windows with beautiful cinnamon stained Anderson A-series windoww with prairie grills. We were very pleased with Opal. Our first contact was with Eli, who took many hours of time to educate us about the different siding and window options. He was never pushy, but always helpful and responsive. He modeled some different looks on the computer and gave us many references to check out. Opal has a nice showroom. The quote we received was very comprehensive and professional, with various options priced out some we could compare different alternatives. Opals office staff also follows up often before the job and during the job to make sure the work is progressing and to address any customer concerns. Our project manager was Stephan and the installation crew was led by Peter. The crew seemed very experienced. We got to know the crew pretty well in the 3-4 weeks of the install. They really cared about us as customers and strived to do the best job possible. They took a lot of pride in their work. The crew were polite, hard working, and were experts in installing both the stone, the siding and the windows. Every little detail of the job was well done, especially all the stone work, the loads of exterior trim work and even all the caulking was done very neatly. When we did the final walk around, they did such a thorough job, there wasnt much on the punch list. Whenever they had an issue or concern, they would discuss the options with us and recommend a course of action. They cleaned up every night and kept a organized work site. Many friends and neighbors have all commented on how beautiful the house looks and we are excited about the appearance and the advantages of low maintenance of the Hardie siding. We are happy to be done with peeling paint, rotted wood and drafty windows. If fact, Opal will come to the house and review the job and touch up any caulk, etc. for the first 5 years after the job. Our home is our familys largest investment and I am very pleased to have chosen and trusted Opal to help improve it. I am writing this review to highly recommend them to others. I did not really trust the siding companies that chase insurance companies for storm damage and was concerned about using a small company that could be out of business if one or two key people leave, nor did I want to deal with a company that was so big that we would be just another job for a one of many (most likely sub-contracted) crews. Opal seemed the right size and had a helpful, trustworthy staff and then delivered a really awesome job.

UPDATE: We recently moved into a new home, and after last Mays hailstorm needed new siding, gutters, and downspouts. Based on our previous excellent experience with Opal Enterprises, we decided to use them for the project, rather than one of the fly-by-night door-to-door companies. Again, we had outstanding service, a wide selection of excellent products, and friendly and knowledgeable installers to work with. A quick story which will illustrate the pride with which Opal does their work. Their installers accidentally placed a set of shutters around the wrong window. After a phone call to correct their mistake, they not only placed the shutters on the correct window, they replaced the siding into which the shutters had originally been located, at no charge, of course. They could easily have patched the small screw holes, but they took it upon themselves to replace the siding to make the project right. I appreciate that attention to customer service and quality in any company, but especially one doing projects on the home in which my family lives. I cannot recommend Opal Enterprises highly enough to anyone who needs any work done on their home. We will certainly be patronizing them in the future for all of our projects. Our family had an outstanding experience with Opal. From our consultant in the studio to the installers, from the project manager to the office staff, everyone we spoke to at Opal was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The Andersen patio doors we had installed are beautiful and far more efficient than the old doors - our family room is approximately 2 degrees warmer without changing our thermostat settings. That heightened energy efficiency will help offset the cost of the doors themselves, besides the joy and peace of mind of having an excellent product professionally installed. I highly recommend Opal to anyone looking for new doors and/or windows. Our experience could not have been any better!
