AWFUL SERVICE - BEWARE THIS LOCATION! 3 very bad experiences in 1 month. They do careless, slow work. (Full description below.) Go to the Firestone in Franklin Park for better, faster service. Twice they had to fix the problems that Firestone in Oak Park caused, without an appointment, same day. Oak Park Firestone is ALWAYS too busy to take good care of your car. Im not sure why, maybe the local residents assume that because it is a business within our wonderful village, it will be high quality? WRONG. They take forever to look your vehicle, their mechanics are either lazy or incompetent (both?), and the guy who answers the phone, while nice and friendly, will BS you about your cars status. Experience #1: The heat stopped working in my car. Brought it in Friday afternoon, with an appointment set up online. I told them that I needed my car back by Sunday end of day so I could get to work Monday. If they couldnt guarantee this, dont take the job. They said they could do that, and would call and update me on the status. All day Saturday I got no updates. Every time I called they said they were draining the coolant so they could replace it. "Should be done today (Saturday)." Didnt happen. Well, Sunday came, and it was the same response all day. It doesnt take that long to drain coolant. Cmon, just say you havent gotten to it and stop lying to me. In fact, they did not call me until 30 minutes before the place closed on Sunday to come get my car, and only because I called repeatedly and let them know I absolutely needed my car for work. Guess what - I started my car and yeah, the heat worked, but the POWER STEERING didnt work! Popped the hood and the fluid was down below the minimum required level! Called a mechanic over and he filled it, of course taking no responsibility. Said I might have a leak. 10 years Ive never had a power steering fluid leak, you take my car one weekend and the fluid is drained? Thats my fault... riiiiight. Oh and how did you not notice that the power steering is not working when you pulled it out to the parking lot??? 2nd Experience, the following week: My car wouldnt start, though the battery was practically new. I figured it was the starter. Had it towed in, then got the similar 2-day runaround over the phone. Sure enough I needed a new starter. When I got the car back, it started, but made a variety of unpleasant sounds. Then that whole week it would take several attempts to start, and would make odd sounds every time. Finally took it to another Firestone, they said it was a defective starter! Really?! Did you even test it before deciding you were done? 3rd Experience, the following week: My wifes car battery died. Firestone replaced the battery. The next week she goes to get an emissions test and FAILS. Why? Because the Firestone mechanic yanked out a wire to the diagnostic system and failed to replace it. So again we have to go to another Firestone (Franklin Park) to get this simple fix, then head all the way back to the emissions test. My wife and I are both filing complaints to the HR department. This is shameful.

I called beforehand to see how long a wait I could expect for an oil change and they quoted 45 minutes. I live less than a mile from the place and left immediately and drove directly there. I sat and waited for an hour and a half before they finally serviced my car, and it wasnt until 2 hours later that I paid and left. I dont mind waiting, but I at least expect an honest/accurate estimate for how long its going to take. On the positive side, Jesus the person working the front counter, was very friendly and didnt try to oversell me useless services like they usually do. I wont be coming back. Jiffy Lube on Harlem is much faster and is within 10 minutes of what they quote me for service time usually.

Firestone charged my $130 to put on a reservoir power steering hose. They had my car for six hours and they secured my new hose with bread ties. And to add insult to misery, a worker changed my wheels to summer wheels, but forgot to secure lugnuts to wheel before backing car out. Needless to say this caused damage to my brake caliper, but they swear they didnt do it. NEVER take your car to them!

Apparently, the only point of making an appointment is to know exactly when youll be told they cant take care of you for a few hours. Maybe I shouldnt have let them know I had the lifetime alignment? When I first bought it, in and out quickly. Now that Im trying to utilize it - "each alignment takes half an hour to a couple hours, and theres someone in line ahead of you." Super.

I bought four tires from an advertized deal. Two of the new tires developed slow leaks. I brought it back. They said one of my tires was slashed on the inside. I didnt check, I believed them. The problem persisted even with another new tire. I found out that both of my rims had been damaged and were causing the leaks. I suspect it happened the first time. I wont go back there

Horrible customer service lied about battery being in good condition when I knew better I had to have my car jumped 3 times after their bogus print out saying the battery was in good condition. I guess they didnt want to honor the 5 year warranty which my battery was still under. I will never do business with Firestone nor will I recommend them to my worst enemy!

Overly SLOW service. I called to see about having 1 patch put on 1 tire. Guy on phone said 30min. I show up, they take the car in right away.......and it TOOK 1 hour 25min for them to PATCH A TIRE!!! I mention to the desk guy that it seems a little absurd and he does not even acknowledge my concerns. I wonder if an oil change would take 3 HOURS?????

Depending on who you speak to for a quote, your price will be higher or lower. As a consumer, I prefer the lower price. They are friendly and remember you. Great for a neighborhood mechanic and they are knowledgeable

Took our car, with two month-old tires, to this place for alignment. Their diagnosis? We needed THREE new tires. As an extra "service", they checked our battery and it needed replacement. Who would have thought?

Waste of time, set up an appointment, came back an hour and half later, and they still didnt have a chance to get to my car. They stated it would be another hour and a half. Just a waste of time

Premium quality work in a timely manner. You leaving feeling confident and reassured that the repairs you came for are fixed properly the first time. All others are hack shops.

They always do nice work. They are prompt and courteous. I dont know what all the other sore heads are writing about, but I have always been pleased with their work.
