I dont know what these people are complaining about and what type of dream party gym theyve been to in the past, but this place really has nothing wrong with it. I worked at a fitness center for a couple years and LA Fitness is pretty stereotypical but excels in amenities. They have numerous classes, from hardcore stuff like cycling and strengthening, to some easier stuff like yoga, Pilates, and Zumba. This is one of the FEW facilities that I know of that actually offers Pilates, which is an amazing work out in itself. They have a pool, with more "open swim" hours than some of the other ones Ive been to. They have many machines and let you use the class cycle machines when ever you want as long as youre not disturbing a class. They are pretty clean. Most people that work out there consistently wipe down machines when they are done with them, which is more than half the battle of gym "cleanliness". The only complaint I have is their childrens room. The hours are split during the day, so they are open morning til noon and then dont open again until 4 and then close again in the late evening. This is rough when you have kids bc sometimes midday workouts are the only ones that work for the whole family. They offer an inexpensive Monthly membership for the kids room, and were really good about freezing the membership for me, without charge, for certain months of the year when I know my kids will not be present. And yes the staff is very friendly. For the price it is good, Overall I give it 4 stars.

The equipment is there, but thats it. We moved from out of state and were told multiple times by front desk employees that we had to talk to the manager, Lance, to have our addressed changed. Notes were left on Lances desk to call us, notes on our account to notify him (according to front desk employees), and still no call... Corporate said that the change had to be done in store which is why we were trying so hard to get in touch with the right person. On 2/8, we reached someone who again, said they were putting a note on Lances desk and he would call us before he left at 6. With no call at 5:55 PM, my wife called and Lance would not talk on the phone, he would only talk through his employees - explain to me how playing phone tag with him in the background talking is helpful at all? After his employee said, "Lance says he wont change your address because it was done once already," I reiterated the I was told by corporate that it would not be an issue and that I needed to talk to Lance, especially because we never received his call although several people told us (which is not their fault) that Lance has this note or that note to call us. Well I called corporate again and due to Lances ignorance, they changed our address with ease- now the joke is on you Lance. Lance, be a leader, not a coward and just do your job. Its that simple.

This location is run down. The free-weights are always all over the gym, like in the studios, around the machines etc. There are always machines or equipment with "scheduled for maintenance" stickers on them but they are there for many days or more. The cable machine back with the free-weights has different slides on it that dont allow it to line up and most if not all of the Olympic bars are bent. There is a feeling of disrepair to the place that seems like the workers and management just dont care. Recently, they made part of they gym much nicer than the rest but blocked it off for "personal trainers" only. Now, they hang signs in the locker room to say watch out for your stuff because things are being stolen. Really, considering the care that goes into this place by the staff, it is no wonder that patrons are just as inconsiderate although that is probably more to blame on the location. Ive had 3 situations in the locker room where "attitude" was a little over the edge. It is obvious that Round Lake Beach is not the best part of town. Perhaps it was at some time but it has been degraded to become almost a 3rd world country and LA Fitness reflects the neighborhood. Waukegan is much nicer, both in location, care for the facility, friendly staff and people who workout there.

We signed up this week and were mislead by the staff. The facility seems clean and maintained but the main reason we considered this gym is because of their Kids Korner. We were told how well supervised the area is(one adult per 10 kids) and that the people supervising would actually watch the children. My wife checked the girls in, there were more than 10 kids and one woman not paying attention at all. My wife went to the front to see if they can send an additional person in and the staff said they couldnt and that someone was "on their way" that person never arrived during the almost hour that my wife was there. My wife returned from working out only to watch as a 4-6 year old boy shoved my 16 month old daughter to the ground because he wanted a toy. The person on duty did nothing but came over when she saw my wife walking over to console my crying daughter. The facilities seem good but do not sell us on the Kids Klub being this great place and asset for your company when if anything, its a liability and unsafe.

Ive been a member for almost a year. Use to be a member at Centre Club....this place is not a clean facility by far. The machines are dirty especially the stair climbers. Its like people walked on gum and stepped onto these machines. People shouldnt be wearing there outside shoes inside the gym to workout. The womens locker room just plan smelled bad, like feet. I dont know who cleans these places, I know they have soaps to disinfect the machines but they should have employees looking over the locker rooms and the equipment. Also there are no free weights that are under 10lbs. Over were you can stretch out they have a weights holder with absolutely no weights to be found. Also very crowded..have to wait for a treadmill and that is in the late morning early afternoon. Dont like the fact you have to rent the raquetball equipment or bring your own. Staff is very nice, location and hours are great. I think I was expecting more...bummed out they dont have a steamroom:( but otherwise its an ok place..

Overall not to bad, the personal training staff ( Randi and Josh ) have been more then awesome and overall the staff is very nice. Personal training is an expensive endeavor here ( $1100.00 ) for 18 sessions, but at least it doesnt lock you in to a 12 month contract. If youre looking at personal training, you will be able to get it cheaper at other places, but Josh and or Randi will push you to help you meet and exceed your goals. my main complaint are the high school kids who leave weights all over the gym, you lazy bastards, you took them to where you left them, put them back when you are done! It also seems there is no urgency on repairing equipment or even getting new equipment at times, which can be a little frustrating. I understand there is ware and tear, but at some point you just need to nut up and stop fixing something that always breaks and get something new. Id LOVE to see this LA get some new equipment, as most of the cardio is long in the tooth.
