There is way too much to list here to cover everything so I will try to bullet point rather than go into a long-winded explanation. Myself: Individual who bodybuilds/powerlifts, strength-trains x5/6 days a week 1-2 hours a day. Was a personal trainer for years but left that line of business after I grew tired of it. Generally minded own business and tried to get in/out. Was nice and courteous to most everyone where possible. Would often powerlift with girlfriend and train hard together and do our own thing spotting, etc. Overall: Everything you would expect of a gym. Full amenities, large, lots of new, working equipment, and full services for personal training, group exercise, spin, kids club, salon, massage, etc. Kept clean for the most part but its still a gym. You have some very nice people there but most people are low class, rude, selfish, self-absorbed, and arrogant. Average demographic ranges from teens in their late teens to people in their late 20s/early 30s. Pros: Full selection of equipment Very large location Protein bar, towel service, and supplement shop Full line of amenities and services available to customer Plenty of opportunities for memberships for everyone Clean for the most part when you consider a "gym" of this size Cons: Management is only present 9-5 weekdays. Front line staff is immature, unmotivated, and undertrained and on a revolving door basis. New staff every month. Facility is packed full to the brim to the point that during summers, it is busy until 11PM weekdays, and during the winter busy until 9PM. Weekends are always usually dead after 1PM. There were times I would be waiting for equipment for up to 30 minutes. Peak times, you will have a person every 2-3 feet from you in any direction. 2 Power Racks, 3 Flat Bench Presses, 9000+ members. Hex plates not round plates; no dedicated space for deadlifts, staff/trainers do not understand proper mechanics of deadlift and will tell stronger lifters to bounce the weight instead of let it come to a dead stop OR lay a mat down and put it down "slower." THE MEMBERS are predominately self-absorbed, rude, shallow, arrogant, disrespectful, and lack "situational awareness." This being said, not having proper courtesy to share, work in, not hoard benches, racks, dumbbells, and not walk in to a moving part, a bar path during a squat or deadlift, or bumping into a person in general. Tons of juice heads slamming weights and flexing their muscles and hitting on girls. On the flipside lots of ditzy, scantily-clad girls flaunting their asses, boobs, and midsections and trying to pick up on guys and waste space. Lots of selfies, cameras, and attention-seeking from some of the "regulars" who go there. The personal training staff in general. I did it for a long time elsewhere, and I did it right and was very successful with my business. I left that to get into management years ago after enough experience. In the entire year and a half being there, I never saw a trainer properly program, address, or treat a client correctly with form queuing, sound exercise prescription, or even talking to other members while they should be training ONCE. Do NOT hire a trainer unless they have a DEGREE, a nationally accredited certification from ACSM, NSCA, NASM, NCSF, or even the lesser ACE, have proven EXPERIENCE, specialization, WORKOUT themselves and show for it, and have TESTIMONIALS they can provide on the spot. Thievery on the fitness floor; had gym bag near me within a few feet and someone managed to swipe my watch/timer in my bag. Shady, multi-step cancellation services with different information from front line staff, to sales, to the assistant mangers, to the general managers, right up to corporate. Still dealing with charges to my card two months later and ongoing. Final verdict: You get what you pay for and if you are looking for the stereotypical gym, you have found it. A place to start and learn the basics but somewhere you will either fall off from or inevitably move on from.

Ive been going to this gym since it opened and use this place almost daily. Being an avid gym rat, I can safely say this place has all the basics. But lets go for a simple review: Overall: good place to go! Pros: -Cheaper in comparison to other gyms in the area. -Covers all needs for the basic "after-work" crowd, all sorts of cardio equipment, weight machines, and free weights -Very clean on the floor, certain areas could use more attention, though cleanliness is determined by member lifestyles -One of the few gym-attached pools in the area, which is very well taken care of, and though there are only 3 lanes, I rarely see it full up. Sauna and steam rooms are very nice too. -Basketball court -You need your own lock (both a pro and con, this way no one else has access to your locker except you) Cons: -Can be extremely over-crowded at times (especially at prime workout hours) and the majority of guests have no regard for their actions (to Deiviss comment above, quantity over quality) Though you can tell how much business Lifetime lost when this place moved in. -ONE WATER FOUNTAIN (to another comment above) youd figure you could have more than one with all the plumbing in there. -You need your own lock -Depending on your exercise routine, there isnt a lot of open space to perform movements (like kettle bell swings) when theres even a small crowd. Personal experience: -Trainers: My experience with a trainer was not that great. I was going to use my initial free session for an evaluation of certain exercises. The trainer took my name, and scheduled me, but when it came time for it, I was no longer in their system. At which point I was told that they would "fit me in when possible" they were full up at the time. Needless to say, I did not re-schedule nor was called or spoken with. They seem knowledgeable with standard exercise and group classes, I have not seem them work with above average experience or elite level members. -Member Culture: almost pure iPhone culture (headphones in and go go go). While I can respect that you want to get your stuff done, please realize that you are not the only one there.

I have been a memeber using the facility at Schaumburg for about four months now. At first, I was satisfied. Then, around early December, something changed. The housekeeping is atrocious. I use the basketball courts and workout equipent sparingly. I work a hard job and am frequently sore. I use the sauna, pool, and hottub most often. First and foremost, I should say that I am a liscensed Certified Pool Operator. I see things that most unknowingly overlook. The hot tub is disgusting. Not only are the chemicals not properly applied, but it is disgustingly dirty. Body oil foam so thick you cant see the water. It is discolored and actually has dirt and oil floating on top. I wont even get in, and that usually is the sole reason I am there. Also, they use way too much chlorine...I know...an oxymoron. The thing is just uses that much, and needs a more than once a week cleaning. The chlorine is so strong it still burns my eyes after I get out. Bottom line is poor management. The locker rooms are filthy and unkept. Also, the rules arenot enforced. The sign on the basketball court clearly says no full court after 1 am...presumably so people like me can play without dealing with young punks who think the court is theirs. So, not only can I not use the hot tub, but I cant play ball either. Whatam I paying for? First step for me is this. If this situation is not rectified immediately, my second step will be to contact the Schaumburg Board of Health and ask for an inspection. I guarantee there are violations all over the place. The ADA compliant machinery has been out of order sinceI joined in September. My last step will be to contact corporate, leave more reviews, and cancel my memebership.
