I worked there as a GM and they lie to their members. They even lie to their staff. That is why I decided to leave after I found out all their lies. I couldnt ethically stay at a place that says they are exo friendly as a sales pitch and then isnt. They dont recycle. They sort out the garbage but in back there is no recycling bin only a dumpster, some of the Eco Gyms dont even have solar panels when they are told to say they do, they tell people that 40% of their members do personal training which is nowhere near true, the con everyone into paying 2 last months (one when they sign up and the last when they leave... It is all about wording and confusing people if they can), the tell every person who signs up they their free training session is by their "best trainer" (when almost none of them are even certified. The list goes on and on. As a GM I was paid worse than a bigger in a grocery store. I was told that my commission would absolutely make up for it. Reality I had better numbers in just my location then the other 2 locations combined and I still only made $6.10 for every hour I put in. The Department of Labor actually investigated them due to trainers not being paid for free sessions (which happened all the time. They were told they were "auditioning" for an opportunity to train someone, even though the client wasnt guaranteed). They also got in trouble for not paying me at least minimum wage and overtime. Eco Gym settled and paid me barely anything. One of the owners was so cold hearted. A homeless man came in and needed $0.71 to get on a bus to get to a homeless shelter. It was so cold out and I literally had enough money. The man thanked me and said how lucky my husband was. I told the owner the story. He went on to telling me that he wouldnt have given him anything, but a lecture on how he should have made better choices. The reviews you see on Google were actually ways to make Eco Gym look good and the new members to benefit from not paying a non existing fee. Sometimes the owner would even take the phones of members and hack into their facebook to share their "windy city live" video. They charged an enhancement fee and didnt change anything in the gym for years. As the GM I was told I needed to clean the gym everyday with no cleaning people to come in. I scrubbed every toilet everyday as the boss of the gym, making less than minimum wage. I finally left after unraveling all the lies we were told to say and even believe ourselves. I just couldnt believe that the other managers went along with it. The gym had so much potential and I loved all of my trainers and the training manager I worked with. The owners were absolutely out of this world, one who was absent all the time and the other who had no heart, thought he was untouchable, and was a complete male shovanistic pig. If you werent with him, you were against him. He lied about everything. I just couldnt believe I fell for all the lies. People should know the truth though. Eco Gym is a scam. But if you like dirty machines, losing money, sub-par equipment, and a whole lot of lies this is the place to be.

First of all, Beth is the most horrible worker there. I was talking to her on the phone, and she started yelling at me and being all bossy and saying that she is the only one that can help me, she did not treat me like a valued customer. Beth is the worst employee in that gym. Please read on my review below for more...! Worst experience ever at a gym. Signed up for the cash back plan, without knowing that there is a 200$ CANCELATION FEE! Stay away from this gym, they sneak all kinds of fees when your try to cancel your membership. I havent even gone there for a complete month, and i canceled it within the 30 day policy, but they still insisted on charging me for 2 MORE MONTHS! This gyms staff is filled with scammers and liars, all with same greedy face. All want your money. I have never ever been ripped off this bad. The best thing to this story is that they do not tell you there is a cancelation fee. Its snuck in under the paperwork. Alot of people on yelp has been through this, and they have shared their stories. Read the reviews before you sign up. Also, their bathrooms and showers are always dirty. When your need the staff, they arent there. Nobody works there at midnight. If you need something, you gotta come when they are working. It doesnt make it a 24hr gym anymore if there is no staff for help. Their fingerprint reader does not work, i always had to put my number in everytime i came to workout. Annoying, and they didnt do anything about it. When you are talking with the staff there, they always help the other customer at the same time. I always have to wait longer when they finish. I feel left out at those times, not something you would do to a customer. I already waited in line to talk, and the staff just decides to talk to another customer at the same time. And then they ask me "where were we?" well, take care of me first then jump to the next one. It really irritates me how they kept doing that over and over again. I talked to a few members there, and the ones that signed up for the flex plan said that the 200 cancelation fee is a total rip off. 40-50$ is a reasonable cancelation fee. 200 is ridiculous. Who do they think they are. Clean the bathrooms you dirty scammers! Never ever coming back to this gym, i hate this gym. I hate their staff. I even told them that this review is coming up, wassup Chris and the new boss of the building. I hope you guys quit and find something better to do than scam others. Wink wink ;) Oh, dont even talk about Beth. She is horrible. Doesnt even know what she is doing. She walks around most of time lost.

This is a somewhat unique gym where they offer several cool things. First, they make use of human kinetic energy while you run. Second, they offer hyperbaric chambers for those who need an extra shot of oxygen. Third, they have a flex plan which has very high upfront cost, but will give you cashback for your visits. The more you workout, the more you get back, and theoretically you can make membership completely free. They make good use of the limited space and offer some wonderful powertoys for hardcore trainees that I rarely see in other gyms, such as truck tires and sledgehammers. They also have heavy bags which is an essential piece of equipment missed by many major gyms. There are enough heavyweight stuff to entertain lifters - full squat racks, 120lb dumbbells, and a training station with TRX and landmine. There are no locker rooms but a couple of private changing rooms and a private shower instead. For a small gym this idea seems quite brilliant. For someone like myself who has to work out in the early morning, this works just great as I can enjoy complete privacy while changing. If you need to go during rush hours, make sure you find out the availability for yourself. If you plan to join, you are advised to read the terms and conditions on their website, since you will likely be signed into a term contract. Make sure you understand all the potential costs so that you wont be hit with unexpected fees and penalties. Overall, I find Eco Gym a functional, innovative and convenient place for my workout, without any compromise on the equipment given limited space.
