Like most other reviewers I liked this place, for its top-notch facilities, big workout spaces, new equipment, amenities and services. I was happy with Life Time up until recently, when my credit card was charged for something I never authorized. When I discovered the charge, I at first, tried contacting the customer service, in person, but manager responsible for the aquatic department werent there and I left a message along with my phone number, asking to call me. After 1 month, nobody contacted me and I have disputed the charge with my credit card and won (obviously). Next day, I received an email notifying that my membership has been canceled. Just like that. No calls, no emails trying to figure things out. Snap of the fingers and family of three is OUT. When I called to express my feelings, Ive been told by manager on duty (I believe her name was Cari) that either I will pay the disputed amount, or they will never reinstate my membership. Now, to me that is pure extortion. I wouldnt try reinstating after such insult, but my wife begged me to, because this club is big part of her social life. Eventually, after I went there personally and spoke with managers and this Cari person, who, again, was very arrogant and tried pressuring me to pay those bogus charges, everything was resolved in my favor. But it costed me some time and great deal of stress, to get my point across and stand my ground. Concluding my review, Id like to stress the fact that Life Time Athletic upper management, should pay closer attention to their front desk staff and managers on duty, because with people they have now, they will lose their clientele rather quickly, (Ive seeing the same thing happened with other gyms). Get your act straight, Life Time!

First about its main purpose and how it matches me and my expectations (I know its personal, but thats a place for personal reviews): Yes, good gym, but for $110/mo ($150 in Hawaii?!.) itd better be good. I, however, do not see the difference proportional to the price difference with, say, LA Fitness or even X-Sports. Its is my subjective opinion. Now the atmosphere, the feel, and the semantics: 1. Some arrogant staff members and many arrogant members. I guess, they feel superior by association, something like this, "I pay $110, so I am better than average and I belong to a higher class." Again, of course, this my speculation, but I cannot find any other reason to be that way in the gym where everybody is supposed to be equal. 2. Related to # 1 above: many members grab a 3-foot pile of towels and do not see others around (set their stuff as if they are alone in the locker, pool, gym). I see these people and assume what they do in life (work, etc.). 3. Some even bring 4-5 towels to the gym and leave around the benches and machines. Amazing arrogance and inconsideration! I do not care much about all these details, because I have been living in the gym for a good 45 years or more, but those who are less confident and arrogant feel uncomfortable, and they told me so.If you are not too sensitive, you can find a cheaper place to feel down. Yes, I also saw how they lie about cancellation, guest passes, etc. I opt out...

Hi, let me start by saying its not a bad gym its the horrible staff. The gym is clean and the atmosphere for working out is great. I have been there a few times over the last couple months as a guest to my friend with intentions to sign up this summer as my schedule cleared up. But I feel very disrespected by the manager on duty, I believe his name was Corey or Chris. He asked me to leave and wouldnt give me a reason why, as if he had me mistaken for someone else. He threatened to have me escorted off the property for my attitude, which I have never spoken to or seen the guy before. The same guy had approached one of our friends, as he was signing up, ans asked him "can you even afford to workout here?" As a guest these are horrible mistakes that they could have made. Seeing as their membership fees are over $100 a month and now all of my friends will be leaving the club. I reccomend staying far away as they will cheat you with hidden costs and treat you unfairly. The staff is nicer to me at Snap Fitness for $20 a month. I will not be going back to the club in Vernon Hills until their customer service improves.

Terrible customer service. Im a Lifetime Fitness member in a different state and am traveling temporarily for business. I spoke with the account manager at my local Lifetime to see what my options are to go to a Lifetime out of state. There are no current Bronze level gyms in the area, so he advised that I call and ask if I can use their gym temporarily, and it would be great customer service that he would extend himself. When I called, their final answer was for me to pay them $70 to use their gym for the week. No thanks. Thats more than my monthly dues here. Terrible customer service, and no accommodations for business travel. Dont expect much if youre looking for nice people who are customer centric, they treat you as any other "guest" and force you to buy a full-price guest pass. I was willing to pay extra daily fees that would be added to their membership, but not full price-guest passes.Thank god I moved out of this cold and money-hungry state.

In short 5 starts for the facilities and 1 star for the Customer Service relates to 1 star . I pay $250 dollar for a 2 adult 2 kid membership with additional $105 for swimming lessons and if someone asks me if its worth it my short answer is NO . After three months swimming classes my younger daughter virtually learned nothing . My wife did a better job than the swim instructor. They really dont assess if the Kid is making any progress at the swim classes . I got lured by the "Kids Academy" where they advertise to involve your kid in various activities including pre -gymnastics and rock climbing , in reality I find my kids spending time with the Ipad or even worse even "Arts and Craft" classes . The real classes like Rock Climbing are limited to once or twice a week and are often cancelled . I have brought these up with the Amy Triphan (Swim team ) and Annie Vincic (General Manager) but I guess all they care is your membership money

I totally agree with "Winner Today". Some trainers are high school type aggressive and the manager is not responsive. One of the trainer, name Vence, even phisically threatened me grabbing my arm and even made verbal abuse against me saying he touched me because hes my boyfriend when I warned him not to grab my arm again or I would call police. The manager gave me his personal apology and offered 1 month fee waive to which I felt not enough to make up all the trouble I had. So I asked at least 3 months fee waive as well as a formal apology from Lifetime Fitness. After then he became unresponsive in spite of my several messages via web and phone. The trainer is still working and seems no disciplinary decision has been made by this health club. Think twice before joining this horrible place. Ill cancel my membership sooner or later, hopefully as soon as any competing fitness center moves into my neighborhood.
