Groovy Katz is the best salon! I have looked for a very long time and went through many salons to find a place where I could finally be happy with how my hair was cut and treated and I couldnt believe when I finally found it in Groovy Katz! The staff is very competent and extremely warm and friendly, there is none of the stuffiness and haughtiness you can find in some other places, which is something I personally cannot stand, especially when I want to have my hair styled. I have been extremely happy with my hairstyle since I found Groovy Katz and my stylist (Amy) is awesome! She has saved my hair from a very bad case of stress and has since made it look perfect every time I went to see her. I couldnt be more content with the results! I highly recommend this salon to everyone who wants a great haircut, great massage, great products and a very friendly and competent team of professionals.

Ive been on the lookout for a new hairstylist in the area and tried this salon. My cut and color were just "okay" - not the quality I expected after reading other reviews. To be honest, Ive had a much better cut and color at other salons in Iowa City. Ill continue my search for a new stylist elsewhere. One thing that did bother me was that they seemed to be big on up-selling services. Every hairstylist that was working that day tried to get their client to get add-on services, such as deep conditioning or protein treatments. In the end, I felt a little icky about the amount of money I spent compared to the quality of service and overall experience.

I have gone to Groovy Katz since the day they opened up there doors. They have very nice products and are very knowledgeable about what products would be best for me. I dont usually know what to do with my hair but they always come up with a style that I love and get compliments on. Ive taken my children there as well and my children really enjoyed their experience there and loved getting their hair done, including the boys. The stylist made it a good experience for them. My boyfriend even started getting his hair done and he said that not many people know how to work with his colics and he was very impressed with there work!!!

This salon is super cute and modern. I love the twinkling lights over the shampoo bowls! Devon is awesome; super fun and does a fantastic job. She always makes sure to ask lots of questions and look at any pictures you bring to make sure she gives you exactly what you want. I was nervous to try bangs again after some bad experiences, but I got the perfect fringe from Devon. People compliment me all the time! Parking can be a bit tricky, but the staff are welcoming and try to accommodate your appointment time requests. I like it a lot and will keep coming here even though its way across town for me!

We came here to get ready for a wedding. The ladies were so nice and so helpful. Brittany was my stylist and she did such a good job. We had great conversation and she made me look so beautiful. Oh! She got my hair to stay in through all the dancing! They offered us all coffee and tea and water right when we got there. They were super cool with the videographer coming in and shooting us while we were getting ready. As an added bonus they have a cute little coffee shop right next door.

Highly recommended. Moving to a new place inevitable leaves you searching for a someone to give you the perfect hair style. If you are vein like me than you must know what I am talking about. I gotta hand it to the girls at Groovy Katz (Lesil more specifically). Never left this salon looking in the mirror in disgust. I have even adapted new routines: Nose/eyebrow wax, and the occational massage. I feel like I am in a Vegas resort everytime I go to Groovy Katz.

New to the area and saw the reviews. My daughter and I are both very happy with the attention they give their clients, as well as the hair cut. Fun and professional atmosphere, personable stylists, and decent prices (compaired to other salons with similar ratings). They were also able to get both of us in the same day we called. Love it! We were cared for by Brittany and Tarra and have no desire to look elsewhere.

Ive been a client of this salon for more than five years. Finding the right stylist is like finding a friend. It takes listening and communication for a good relationship. Ive always received good hair cuts from my stylist and I take her advice. Getting a new haircut is liking rolling the dice sometimes. This salon is not stuffy. Im a low-key type of girl and find the salon confortable. Give Groovy Katz a try.

Im bad about waiting till I really need to get a haircut to go, and I never use the same person twice. Ive been here about 4 times over the last 4 years and Ive had a different stylist every time and they have all been just great. Its a friendly, not snooty, atmosphere and everything is nice and clean. They often have appointments available on the day I call.

This salon is amazing. I got a back wax and a hair cut. Everyone there was extremely nice, polite and professional. The stylists are very knowledgeable and experienced. I felt very comfortable and welcome the entire time I was there. I will definitely be coming back in the future. I strongly recommend this Salon. A+

Highly Recommend I have gone to groovy katz for 12 years now in both locations. The atmosphere is very soothing and the stylists are extremely friendly. For someone who doesnt trust their hair to just anyone, I have complete confidence in all stylist working at Groovy Katz. Check them out, you wont regret it.

Love this place! They have Aveda products but they dont push them on you. Which I love. I have gone to many different hair salons until I found this place and I have stayed put! Prices are very reasonable and always leave with a huge smile on my face!

Dirty unorganized salon. No up to date cutting techniques, and stylists seem like they have no idea what they are doing. I did not like the haircut I got and was scared the whole time. I could have gotten this haircut at cost cutters
