I went to Aveda in December because I wanted to get my hair straighten after being natural for a little over one year. Ive been going to Aveda since last summer, and I did like the service, but this particular service was not done well. I noticed that while the lady was straightening my hair, she kept playing on my phone. She also did not straighten my hair all the way to the root, leaving it very kinky and straight on the top. My hair did not last more than 1 and a half weeks. Which was unfortunate because they overcharged me for it ($60). I could have went to a natural hair salon and paid the same price and they wouldve gotten my roots. Anyways, they sent me on my way with a free shampoo and blow out, which Im not going to use now - let me tell you why. I sprayed my hair with water to revert it back to normal and my hair literally smelled like it was burning. It smelled so bad, that people could smell it in the other room. I shampooed the hair and it still smelled burnt. Then I had to go to the store to buy some Shea Moisture shampoo with Apple Cider Vinegar and I was able to get the smell out. But the damage was done - I have several pieces of long straight hair - which clashes tremendously with my short kinky, fine hair. I used to be able to wear my hair out in an afro, and now I cant. I cant even go back to get it fixed, because I feel like the students there are not trained on how to do natural hair. My hair would not look like this if she used a heat protectant and if she didnt turn the heat on high. Im very disappointed in the service and I cannot get this fix because I dont have the money for it.Im still dealing with the effect 2 months later and Aveda did not have the courtesy to refund me OR call me back about this after I left a review on their website. So Im leaving this review here AND a google review. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE NATURAL HAIR!!!!

Ive used aveda ii Lafayette and always had awesome experiences. First time going to this location and was totally disappointed. Most of the students walked around discussing what they felt they should be tipped, which to me is very unprofessional I realize you want tips, but you the students needs to realize you are still in school. Youre there to learn the profession. Tips are a bonus, they should not be expected nor should the service you provide be based off of the tip you are expecting. My stylist was more concerned with her lunch break then doing My hair as I wanted. It took me nearly having a tantrum to get them to trim the front to the length I wanted. Hello, Im paying you to cut my hair the way I request, not the way you want. Highlights and a cut took over 4 hours..and I was taken to the chair within 5 mins of signing in. My husbands stylist was more concerned with her tip than she was with his haircut. The prices are excellent, the service not so much. I will make the hour plus drive to return to Lafayette before using this location again. Very disappointed. One student walked right into me, knocked My foot of the foot rail and never even said excuse me. But I have come to expect poor customer service in baton rouge, seems to be a trend here.

As a college student it is hard to find a place that cuts/trims for a reasonable price. However, I highly recommend Aveda! I have learned a few "tricks" in order to get the best out of my trip. I typically schedule my appointment online, and get a text reminder about it the day before. I always request a master student, and I generally try to go in with the mind set that these are students too, and its just a haircut. If you are looking for a color or true salon experience, I would keep in mind that the process will probably be longer than other places because you have someone who is practicing what theyre learning. My typical cut lasts about an hour. This whole time includes the student consulting with the instructor what it is I would like done with my hair, the instructor approving, and getting me to sign that I agree. Then I get my hair shampooed and conditioned, and then cut, and then typically the blow dryer hits the hair to see the end product. Finally, the instructor comes back to make any final touch ups, if needed (and this has usually only happened for a loose hair, once). Then I am on my way -- well, they show me the products that were used and I love getting the travel sized ones! I hope this helps!

I had the most worst experience I ever had. I started off getting a semi- color, a deep condition and flat Iron. I was told it wad $82 because i was getting it blow dry and flat iron I then asked if she colud roller set it due to it was raining and that was too much.First the student stated that she did not know how to roll my hair so, the instructor did it for her. She took me from under the dryer and took out the rollers, the back of my hair was not dry. The instructor then blow dried my hair straight and the top was full of curls. So the student then tried to curl it with a flat iron. It was a mess. I was so upset I was ready to go. I went to the desk and was still charged $82, i told her i didnt get my whole head flat iron she stated it cost more to roll your hair than to blow dry and flat iron. It was not my fault that my hair wasnt complely checked before i was taken from under the dryer. This was the worst experience I ever had. I could have had my hair done at a professional Solon for that amount of money. They have lost my business and I will share my experience.

Horrible! I walked away with an uneven haircut and thin lines for eyebrows. The student was rude, constantly cutting her eyes at me for some reason and she barely spoke 2 words during the entire service. Plus, the instructor that gave her blessing to the uneven haircut didnt even supervise/mentor the student on the brow wax and didnt bother to check off on this service. Afterwards, I approached a different instructor for assistance with my uneven haircut and she graciously cut my hair again to make it even. A nicer student with a pleasant attitude was kind enough to allow me to use her blow dryer to finish drying my wet hair afterwards. However, neither this kind instructor nor another instructor, that approached us and heard my story too, offered me any type of consolation for my botched haircut, unfinished blow out, or for my botched eyebrow waxing service - I paid full price for horrible service :(

0 stars! I was not pleased with my experience at Aveda at all. I am even upset that I had to pay for my haircut. I went in for just a trim with a student and after we had discussed I wanted one inch off from the bottom and that I was okay with layers on the top, the instructor even came over and signed it off. My hair was originally down to the middle of my back. The whole time I was in the chair the student kept saying how dead my hair was. When she turned me around in the chair when she was finished she told me "I know I cut a lot, but it had to be done." My hair is now a little below my shoulders. She completely made her own call and chopped my hair off. I am completely dissatisfied with my hair cut and I am devastated that my hair had been cut so drastically. Never again will I go back for any of their services!
