I said I would not write a review but so many people who saw the work I had Brian do on my bathroom insisted I let others know what issues they may face. I contracted Brian to do work in my bathroom. I purchased everything needed for the job. I never met Brian in person just mailed the first check along with my house key.I checked each day but knew it was not complete so made no comments until I knew he was done. When the work was done and I got the email asking me to sign off and give him his final check I got home from work went in the bathroom to look at the finished job and was shocked. The bi-fold closet door opened right to left (backwards from the way the builder had it for 15 years) the inside of the closet was not painted (Brian said it did not look that bad so he felt no need to do it) the door was not painted, the mirror over the vanity was very crooked (it is permanently attached) to remove it will destroy the wall, the ceramic tiles are already lifting and there are cracks where the threshold meets with the floor, the crown molding which he told me he did as a nice gesture at no charge was cut too short and fixed by putting caulking sealer in the corners and around to make it meet, my towel bar was hung high at eye level and off center on the wall, the toilet paper holder was mounted near the bottom of the wall across from the toilet not on the vanity where the original one was. When I contacted him about some of these items he had a not so nice attitude with me saying he does not like mounting hardware on wood so the knobs I purchased for my vanity were not hung, he did come back and redo the towel rack and toilet paper holder so my kids could reach them and left. I just had a party at my home and everyone wanted to see my bathroom and everyone was appalled and told me I should have never paid and let him take me to court, show the judge the photos of his work and let the court decide if he deserved to be paid. I am a widow and told him up front how many contractors have taken advantage of me I thought he would be different. He was not. He told me he gave me the crown molding at no charge but charged me an additional 160.00 for materials, dont know what materials since I purchased everything he used. I purchased brushed nickel door knobs for the door and he used a brushed nickel on the inside door and the old gold one on the outside so I have 2 different color door knobs on the door. I still have to paint the inside of the linen closet since the walls are one color and when you open the closet it is dirty white with marks on the walls, and the door which he did not paint. I feel like I just threw away $1600.00 for this. I ask him to fix the closet door so it opens left to right he said it would interfere with the door so he does not recommend it, it has been left to right since the house was built with no problems, the way it is now is a big problem. I wanted to replace the toilet I purchased since it was not a good toilet but he wanted an additional $ 200.00 install the new one, I was not handing out another penny. After speaking with Brian on some of the items I was not happy about he seemed very upset that I questioned his work, he told me hanging the toilet paper & towel bar were not in his scope of work to begin with so he just put them where he thought was best. How many bathrooms are remolded without towel racks and toilet paper holders? Well his scope of work said prep & paint all surfaces to me that would mean the closet and door but he decided it did not need to be done so left that out. I am not happy at all and would not recommend him for any future work. The name Handy Husband Contractors seemed like someone a widow or single woman who needed some help could depend on but think twice.

7/10/2011- Various repair work around the house (doors, windows, bathrooms, etc.)- Mike B. I have come across many handy men in my day and Brian is the best by far. He is sensible, economical and efficient. The work that he does is cost effective and excellent. Perhaps most important, but less tangible, he has intergrity, is honest and will give you straight answers. He saved me over $1000 in repairs using simple household items. He could have easily gotten more money for the work he did. If you need something done around the house- from minor repair work to a total house remodeling- Brian is your guy. I plan to use him as my handy man as long as I am in the Annapolis area. I give Brian the highest of recommendations. Mike

We have used Brians services 5 or 6 times. He installed a beautiful fence(and helped with the design), did exterior painting, repaired our deck, installed new steps to our pier, repaired our pier and set new pilings. He even devised and installed an system to prevent erosion to our waterfront. With all of the jobs he went out of his way to cut down on costs by reusing materials. All of his work has been professional and of high quality. He stands behind his work too! When a wind storm damaged our newly installed fence he returned and repaired it at no cost. He is honest and hard working. We WILL use him again and highly recommend him for others. He is not your typical handyman!!

We strongly recommend Brian. We hired him to fix up some damaged molding in our dining room and he was able to nearly replicate the existing molding with ease. Beyond the work, Brian was quick to respond and extremely courteous. In an area where there are a lot of contractors just looking to make a buck, it was refreshing to have someone we know we can trust to come in and get a project accomplished around the house without excessive costs or constant issues with communication. Definitely recommend Brian for any work aorund the house. Matt

Handy Husband deserves less than a 1 star, but I work with what Im given. Not only did the owner not show for our prearranged appointment, and not only did he not call to inform me he was unable to make the appointment, and not only did I need to call him, he did not return my call for three days and when he did it was via email telling me he would like to reschedule, but it would have to be after his day on a sailboat and another personal, clearly not urgent event. Highly suggest staying clear of this "company."

Brian was great. He had a lot of patience with our bathroom remodel due to HDs failure to deliver our vanity and counter top on time. Brian didnt complain and was flexible with our timeline. He even drove to the store to pick up the vanity after HD failed to deliver it to my home several times. Overall the remodel went really well. I find his prices to be really fair and extremely affordable given he is based out of Annapolis. He is very up front with the cost and honest. Would recommend.
