Ive got a 64 French made boat that Im rehabilitating from its previous life as a poseur party boat to an eco-sensitive world cruiser for my family (of five). This boat lived a little too long in Mexico, and the entire electrical system was comprised of Mexican house wiring - great for Mexican houses, but NOT for French sailboats. After I lightened the boat by a couple thousand pounds by removing the old systems and wiring, I started looking around for somebody to help me jump-start the design process. Im taking the boat WAY back in time as far as systems go, so its a pretty simple job. But one pretty-boy "marine electrical consultant" I had on the boat wanted $90/hr just to TALK with me about what to do - no printed work, no real design. That guy didnt even own a boat of his own... I contacted Peter after having a few such experiences with predatory "marine" electricians and the like. I explained in detail the intended functions of my boat and her systems, and asked Peter if he could put the necessary bits and pieces into a sensible order for me that I would use to install my onboard electrical grid. After a few hours of discussion and a little extra clarification here and there, Peter provided me with a perfectly clear three page document that Im using to install a simple but elegant electrical system. He even provided part numbers. Im delighted with the work I did with Peter, and the entire experience is proof-positive that getting the right advice is absolutely critical to a projects success. It doesnt matter that Peter is on the entire other coast from me. With the availability of the internet and a few enhancements like scanning and sending photos, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished. So thats an additional plug, not just for Peters acumen, but his ability to work very effectively from a remote location.

Peter Kennedy has done installations on two of my boats. My confidence in him began early, when he patiently answered all of my questions, and then sold me only what I really needed and wanted. When my schedule required leaving Annapolis with my boat, Mr. Kennedy performed his quality workmanship on it, and met my time constraints; when it appeared that a part of a water-maker was missing, he drove more than one-hundred miles to Virginia to deliver it to me, at no additional charge! Numerous compliments on his work have been issued by those that have looked at his installations on my boats. Mr. Kennedys hand-drawn schematic diagrams in the immediate area of the installation have been particularly useful and helpful. I strongly recommend Peter Kennedy Yacht Services.

PKYS has done a wide variety of work on my boat. They installed a Garmin navigation system, VHF radio and remote, power inverter and charger, heavy duty batteries, and interior lights. Most recently he installed an anchor windlass. Peter assisted in the selection of the items and provided very professional advice on the installation options. He obviously takes great pride in his work and reputation, and can be depended upon to deliver beyond your expectations. I have worked with others, but for electrical work there are non better than Peter Kennedy Yacht Services.

Peter Kennedy Yacht Services performed a major rebuild of the 12 V DC System of my Cape Dory 300 Motor Sailor. The equipment recommended was of quality, the installation work was competent, to ABYC Standards , and it was completed in a timely manner. Based on this good experience I recently retained PKYS to install a 70 Amp High Output alternator ontop te Westerbeke 46 diesel of the CD 300 MS. Again the work was done with competence and good coordiantion by e-mail. I recommend PKYS for yacht elecrical work.

I turned Peter Kennedy loose restoring electrical systems on my Uniesse (Complex and difficult Italian systems): New controler for anchor windlass; new battery charger; installed new TV and sound system with cable connectivity; rewire panel; trace and repair problems with Chart Plotter and GPS, installed new radio; replaced various lights and switches. He even arranged for woodwork repair while at it. All done at a pretty good price and on time. One of the best in Annapolis, if not the best!!! Jim
