AVOID THIS PLACE at all costs. Brought my car in because it wouldn’t start and James told me that they had googled the issue and he was 90% sure that the problem was a cam sensor. After quoting me for $400 worth of repairs they called the next day and said that they had tried the sensors and it they still couldn’t figure out the problem. I asked how much I owed and they told me my total was $200 for labor and $89 for a computer reading. When I got to the location I asked if they had the old plugs and I was told that they had been thrown away. I then inquired on why I was being charged for $200 if they didn’t replace anything and their reply was that they spent several hours experimenting with different parts. I’m no mechanic but I do know that the dealership charges $100 for a diagnostic like most other places. Had they actually inspected the vehicle I probably wouldn’t have had to get it towed to the dealership. The dealership told me the fuel pump needed to be replaced and that it should have been an easy repair. James and the owner were VERY rude and highly recommend going elsewhere for your auto repair needs. I am a struggling college student and I feel like I was profiled and taken advantage of. Definitely reporting to the better business bureau. This place is unprofessional and they will take your money if you let them. DON’T BE ANOTHER VICTIM!!!!

since moving to baltimore in 2004, this is the only service and repair facility ive relied upon for maintaining my vehicles. this is a family owned business that has been around for more than 50 years. its a fells point landmark, not a particularly fancy looking place.... however, it is professionally run, the pricing is fair, they know what they are doing, and they stand behind their work. it doesnt get any better than that. but it does...across the street, they maintain a very small used car sales lot. again, nothing fancy, just a small selection of very clean, reliable and fairly priced cars and trucks. i purchased one in 2009, and have been so pleased, i just now purchased another. in my entire adult life, i have never experienced a business run as efficiently and as honestly as central service and repair. you will not be disappointed.

This was the worst experience I have ever had in 13 year of visiting mechanics. Perhaps Len was having a bad day, but I was charged without being informed of costs (I was later pointed to signs with prices hanging INSIDE the garage). I was also accused of trying to walk away without paying simply for asking where my car was located. On a previous visit, I was changed $300.00 after being given a 200-250 estimate. Len yelled at me and pointed his finger in my face. It was a horrible encounter. I strongly recommend seeking auto repair elsewhere. I agree with Noels comment below, this really is a respect issue. For the lay person, we need mechanics that will explain what work is done and why, not ones that will shout and degrade.

Ive been taking first, my cars and now my truck (gave a car to my son) for years now and have always received not only great service but the repairs are done correctly the first time. They take care of my truck and never overcharge. My father was a mechanic for 37 years and these guys are keeping a tradition alive, Len, the owner has accepted my truck at all hours and its done quickly as promised. Len also recommended a bodyshop for my wifes car and the work was done to the highest detail. You cant go wrong with these guys, and as a lagniappe, try tipping your mechanic. The rewards are many that youll see time and again if you take your vehicle there on a regular basis. Kraig

INCONSISTENT & SHADY! Stereotypical shady garage your parents warned you about. Moved from Cali and needed a state inspection to registrar my car. Due to client travel, I was unable to registrar my car and my inspection “expired”. When I went back to get an RE-inspection (VICE A FULL INSPECTION) they failed me because I had light tints on my driver and passenger windows, which WERE TINTED DURING THE FIRST INSPECTION AND THEY PASSED ME?!?! THEY CHARGED ME A FULL INSPECTION and FAILED ME! WOW! Had to go to DMV to get tints verified for street legal, they were LEGAL. Thanks for your inconsistency…

Ive used CSR for two years now for inspection and some light repairs. For what its worth, I have no complaints and will stick with them. Reviewers saying that this place is shady may just be commenting on the neighborhood. OK, it might not be as beautiful a location as inner harbor, but that likely helps them save on commercial property expenses and therefore charge affordable prices for their services. Currently getting my spark plugs replaced and feel confident that theyre doing a good job for a fair price.

Ever since Ive moved to Baltimore from Cincinnati in 1993, I bought a Toyota truck in 1996 and Len Young and the folks at Central Service have repaired my vehicle. My father was a car mechanic and they have the same precision as my father when working on cars and trucks. They have given me GREAT service and the guy that had his gas cap lost....well, you must have gotten off on shakey footing with Len. His garage is as good as it gets, and his prices are VERY fair. I wouldnt take my truck anywhere else.

Horrific. Had an oil change, they forgot to replace the cap. They blamed me telling me that I removed it, it was stolen or I was just trying to get a free oil change REALLY? The owner is rude, terse and unprofessional. Terrible customer service. He wouldnt listen to me on the phone, or let me speak and even proceeded to hang up on me. (keep in mind I have been taking 3 cars there for years) REALLY? AMAZING!!!
