Ive given these guys numerous chances to be a good store. Over the years, its been a close option to purchase a variety of parts from. A few years ago, I had my first bad experience when they made me wait 5 hours to get my tires installed, and then hadnt balanced them properly. I took the shaky car back to them the following day and was told to get in line to have them fix it, another 4-5 hours... Since then Ive noticed a "Cant do" attitude from them. I tried to get a transmission flush. The maintenance guy argued with me over it. The vehicle had, 100,000 miles on it and it was recommended on my forum. He outright refused and challenged my knowledge of mechanics. Very insulting. I PAY. YOU PERFORM. Its that simple. Last night, I went in and inquired about oversized tires for my truck. Its lifted. "Well we cant install them on your vehicle." I asked what he could do. He stated that they could mount them on the wheels if I brought them in. OK. Thats fine. So tell me that and leave out the "CANTs". He further stated that he had to install TPMS sensors on my off road wheels / tires if it was made after 2007. I asked why hes concerned with that, if they arent installing the wheels and tires on my truck because they "cant". If I bring wheels in, they could be going on anything. In other words, its not his business to install them on the truck, but it is his business to concern himself about what truck theyre going on. Anyway, this business could easily tell me what they can and are able to do, and make people happy. They do not. Dont use them.

If you are thinking about having tires installed by Pep Boys in Bel Air, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. I recently had a set of four tires installed by them on my Toyota Tundra. All four wheels were scatched with a zig zag pattern on an area approximately five inches long. It looked like the tires were pried off. Also, they broke a tire pressure sensor and acted like they did me a favor by replacing it with a chepo free of charge. The sensor did not work. After twenty miles the pressure dummy light came on. I had to go back to have it reset and the service manager looked at the scratches. He said I would need to return to let the store manager look at them. The store manager named Dan said he didnt believe that they were responsible for the damage and would not do anything. The rims were not damaged when they went in their shop but they were when they came out. This is an unprofessional business being managed by people that do not know what they are doing and they are unwilling to accept the responsibility of damages done by their own employees. Now I need to get an estimate on the cost of repair and decide if I am going to pay for it out of my pocket or possibly file a small claims lawsuit. Please, do yourself a favor and have automotive work done by professionals; not Pep Boys in Bel Air, Md.

Tire Rack tire installation experience was poor. Made an 8am appointment, car didnt make it into the shop until 9:15am. Car was done at 10am. 2 hours for a two-tire installation is unacceptable especially for 1st appointment in the morning. Was charged $4 each for rubber stems which came across as a rip-off. The gentleman even tried to upsell me on an oil change. When asking what the cost was for a "high mileage oil" change he presented me with a price of $70. Really?!?!? I can get one done at Mr. Tire for half that with high-mileage oil. So I guess you really dont want any future business from me... Just moved into the area and was hoping I would have a positive experience similar to the one I experienced at the Pep Boys location in Pasadena, MD. Will never use this shop again for anything since I feel like I would be worried that I was being ripped off...

Strange seeing all these one-star ratings. I went in yesterday (October 12, 2016) for four tires and an adjustment and my 2004 Buick drives much better now. I think they actually finished the job ahead of schedule. Also, they have some nice vintage signs that you can get for your garage. So I have zero complaints about this Pep Boys. -------------- UPDATE 12/18/16: I went here again today for oil and an oil filter and it was another success. The employees told me they would be there if I needed help and it sounded like they really meant it. This is not a one-star Pep Boys at all. I would rate it five stars again if I could.

I go into Pepboys many times throughout the year. I have to say that the place is getting better and better. I used to have to send rebates in to save money, now with the rewards system, I seem to have rewards coming to me in the mail all the time. Ive had no hassles with these folks, and I get my parts on time. In Bel Air, there are a few different auto part stores, they are good too, but the folks at Pepboys seem to want you to be satisfied as opposed to just hoping so. They go out of their way to see that your auto part needs are met.

The representive that answered the phone before I got there was very rude to me, I was asking questions about my tires and when I proceeded to tell him about my custom rims he said "oh well, we cant help you" and hung up the phone. The only reason I give it a 3 is because when I showed up at the store to purchase a tail light that I still needed the man who helped me was very polite and even came outside and installed the light for free. I would recommend going to the store itself and asking questions rather than doing it over the phone.

I went in to ask for the price of two tires because the back tires still good. The customer service was horrible. I dont understand if theres something wrong with how I look and appear. I wont come back here again. The cashier person gave me rude stare upon me asking for the customer receipts so I can compare the prices with other store. As a consumer I should have the right to decide what I want to buy. Please dont force a customer to purchase with that stared down.

Fast service always very nice people and the prices are ridiculously low they rotated my tires and balanced all my tires for $10 and I didnt even buy my tires there. I got up to pay my bill and I looked out in the shop and didnt see my van I asked the tech where my van was and he said they always test drive after they work on anything to make sure its working properly. I like that it makes me feel safe Im just glad my wifes gynecologist doesnt do this. Haha...

Dont bother with using the website to make an oil change appointment. Although the website sends an email saying your appointment is "confirmed" and they "look forward to seeing you" at the prescribed a time, its a lie. According to Bel Air Pep Boys that is just an appointment "request". And they wont honor it. Pretend its 1950 and CALL on the ringy dingy phone or be prepared to be disappointed!
