Visited the Dominican Center Beauty salon today 1/16/17 in Essex. I called prior to going and asked whats the latest I could come for a wash & set, the sign says close @ 6PM Mondays. The owners daughter said 4PM.I arrived minutes before 4, but she didnt want to do my hair. She said its too late! After, convincing her my hair is a quick dry due to the thin texture she reluctantly agreed. She refused to roller set my hair which I asked for. According to her, it was too late, meanwhile my hair takes 30 minutes under the dryer. She then had the nerve to charge me $36 for a quick wash and blow which I didnt even want the blow. They are thieves! They dont have a set closing time which makes them unreliable and inconsistent. The last time I had a wash and set, they charged me $25...thats how I know she ripped me off by $11. Never again! This is the second time they told me I can come to do my hair at a set time but when I arrived, they claim to be closing. I notice they are lacking customers.So I guess they rob the few who get their hair done.

I didnt like the shop. I figured for my first time it would be great but the shampoo lady literally scratched the skin from my ear to my neckline even after I told her she was scratching too hard. Plus she kept taking cell phone calls. Thetime I spent in the stylist chair was okay. I hate heat and she didnt burn me with the flat iron however theres a thug type of guy that sits at the receptionist desk and he had no clue of what he was doing cause he was busy on his laptop. I was no in and out and overall the service wasnt good. Im not going back which sucks because its close enough to where I live. I was there back in April 2011.

The customer service in the shop was of poor quality and the there should be a cost list for services posted---instead waiting until the clients hair was washed. The male I am guessing the son on the stylish--was aggressive in nature and expressed that we could pay for the wash and leave. I did not think that was what should have been said to me and my children. I expressed that we would not return and I enclosed this comment--as it related to their SERVICE....poor

I have been coming to this salon for over 4 years. I love this shop and the owner. She is always nice and pleasant and the prices you cant beat. They try to accommodate you while you are in their chair. I will continue to give them my business. There was one comment about prices not being posted, if you want to know how much it costs, ask before you sit down at the bowl. Its just that easy! ~ A Faithful and Pleased Customer

Im under the dryer now. I wish I had come here sooner. This is a really nice clean place complete with great customer service, simplistic, yet sophisticated decor, and great conversation. I will tell my family about this place and come back here from now on. After a bad experience at another salon, this place is a breath of fresh air.

literally one of the best salons ive been to. I have been getting my hair done here for about 2 years now and i cannot stress how awesome the owner of this place is. She is always willing to work with me due to my work schedule and my hair always feels and looks good for weeks after i leave the shop. i love this place you wont regret it.

Good prices but the ladies are rude..they have a sign no eating or drinking but they sit and eat cherries, while spitting out the seeds! How gross and rude. Then tell customers not to eat. I will not be returning; there are tons of Dominican salons in MD so there is no love lose just a lesson learned!

I am under the dryer now. This salon is very nice, especially the decor. The owner was friendly and Emily was very nice with wonderful conversation. I will definitely be back in the future. Keep up the great work ladies! Also, the wait was non existent. Love, love, love it.

My wifes first time visiting was today. She was in and out in a hour Awesome!!! She said the Decor is pleasing to the eye. I will definitely send her back with my girls. Thanks ladies for taking care of my wife Terri she needs her hair done every five days lol.
