When I brought my car in to get some repairs done, the General Manager was at the computer already getting the parts without my authorization. Now, I know what I can do and what is my right. They were wanting to replace a so called cable to adjust my gear shifter because it wasnt aligned. The general manager right up asked for my keys not telling me what he was going to do with them. I hesitated because I didnt want them to take it away and put the new cable on it and I would get charged for something I didnt want. I shouldnt have to feel so paranoid about what is done to my car! I have another repair auto guy that has done work on my car and he knows what hes doing. And he respects me as a PERSON and an equal as if I have a brain. As soon as the General Manager looked at my car he right away quipped with "disgust" "I wouldnt pass that in state maryland inspection!" The tone of his voice was VERY unprofessional. Even though, Ive explained to them it was sunbleached, its not going to be bright orange. Doesnt mean it has to be realigned... I would say the people here arent very customer conscientious they probably felt they could take advantage of a woman. "what does a woman know about cars? Well charge and do things to her car and she wouldnt know any better." I felt insulted. I will never do business with these people anymore.

I have had positive experiences with the Bel Air location, but my wife was in the Middle River area today so I scheduled an appointment online for her car. I pre-selected the brake service that needed to be done as well as marking that she would wait for the vehicle to be ready. I work in Bethesda so I could not pick her up. I scheduled it online at 12:40pm for 3:00pm. My wife arrived on time and I was on the phone with her so I could hear everything, first they acted like they didnt know why we were coming in with the car, then they said, "Youre hitting us with this last minute, we have two cars already being worked on and our people get off at 5". He also went on to say we probably messed up our car, and its going to cost more money, even though he hadnt even seen our car yet. He basically gave the impression he did not want our business. Very poor customer service. They had over 2 hours to call us to reschedule the appointment or let us know how busy they were, but we were not contacted. Also, his tone the entire time while speaking with my wife was very rude and belittling. My wife left, with no resolution. Unfortunately, we did not catch this persons name, but we will not be returning to this location for future car service.

Traveling home to DE after spending Thanksgiving weekend in VA, I had the unfortunate experience of a flat tire while traveling on Interstate 95. After spending over a 1/2 hour trying to remove the spare tire from under the Suburban. I contacted roadside assistance. When the tow driver arrived he told me that this is a fairly common problem with Suburbans. It seems the safety latch become corroded over time and will not release to let the tire down. Long story short we had the vehicle towed to Middle River Pep Boys, arriving 15 minutes before closing. After explaining the situation to Rick the customer service manager, we agreed the best option was to replace flat tire. While doing so we discovered the rim was cracked. By this time it was approximately 20 minutes after closing time. Rick, JoAnn, Austin and Zaca then showed true customer service. Although it was past closing time they remained and worked for over an hour to free the spare tire and mount it on the vehicle so that we could make it home. My only regret is that I do not live close enough to Middle River to make this my go to spot for auto supplies and repair.

HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!! I took my car for an oil change and tire rotation with compliment inspection. The mechanic Christopher did not do any inspection as I was watching from the customer waiting area and there were no notes written about the condition of the car. The package I paid for pays for visual inspection and tire rotation, which were never done. I asked them to fix muffler straps and the issue never got fixed. I still hear the rattling noise. The next day I asked them to do a break inspection and I took an appointment for the following day. I go on the appointment day and agent Danial looks at my previous service note and said they did not do any break inspection when I came in for Oil change. He goes out and checks out my car and said you need break pads and rotar and all with out even doing an inspection. He was pushing me for changing the breaks with out even proper inspection. Then I insisted to do a break inspection and left my car. When I came back the car was never inspected even after taking the appointment. Danial was never sorry and he said even IF YOU TAKE APPOINTMENT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF SERVICE.

I ignored the marginal reviews regarding service because I was only taking my vehicle in for a headlight restoration ($50). I should have taken the advice... My car has a set of headlights and set of the daytime running lights that sit side by side (2001 Mercedes E320). They only restored the headlights and left the daytime running lights foggy. Common sense would tell them to clean both or at a minimum notify me that they were only going to clean the headlights. Which BTW could have been handled when they called me (prior to picking up the vehicle) to notify me of other items that I may want them to fix (wiper blades, air filter, etc)--i.e., Sales 101. When I arrived they said that it would cost an additional $50 to clean the daytime running lights--total $100. I, of course, declined. The sales person told me that I could purchase a kit to clean the daytime running lights ($10). I was so irritated. I purchased the solution and cleaned the other two myself the next day within 30 mins. I actually did a better job than they did! BUY the $10 kit. Avoid the irritation AND also the $4 random shop fee!

After all the problems with the battery and the very heavy set tech, telling me that I had to have diagnostics on battery, altonatir, and starter. He told me he was not willing to replace battery after it was checked and it said replace battery. So I left and called customer service, and complained. Later that evening , I received a phone call from Rick, and he told me to come in and ask for diana to replaced battery. She knew who I was and was very helpful. I told them I would be in on Friday the 21st of October, to have the starter and alternator checked. I am sitting here now, and everything came out okay with alternator and battery, so I decided since I was here, I would have the tune up done. GREAT EXPERIENCE and Ill be back for oil change next pay. Thank you pepboys

Absolute amateur hour for auto service. If you have a fullsize truck/large vehicle dont bother wasting your time coming here for service. Their lifts wont be able to "handle it". Ok no problem service center catering to small and midsized vehicles. Came in for a simple oil change and tire rotation on the work truck he says our lifts wont pick it up, no problem just an oil change then. No we cant do that either.......What!? Yeah we cant lift the vehicle. Its a 2500..... Chris Farley on a creeper would fit under that thing without raising it. Worthless service center....
