This unrelenting winter got the best of one of my tires -- noticed that I got one of those nasty tumor/air bubbles on my front tires sidewall. Knew I had to get it replaced ASAP, did a google search on tires (around Allston) and found numerous places. Except for this Meineke spot, all the other places had a mixed bag of some good, some bad, some horrible reviews...averaging 2-3 stars. I called yesterday late morning, brought it in before noon, got a quote within 15 minutes, and then rather than having to wait there, the place gave me a ride home! I needed my car back and ready at 5p, and despite the shop being busy -- they had my car ready to go at 5:12p! Meg at the desk was extremely helpful. She answered my call and was very helpful on the phone -- gave the impression that she was going to take the time needed to make sure my issue was fixed. Between the better than average reviews and speaking with helpful Meg, I decided I was going trust them with my ride. I cant stress how refreshing it was to have picked this place somewhat randomly and then be able to get excellent customer service from Meg and their mechanic team...including a shuttle ride home! Driving feels smoother and noticeably better. Oh and they provide lifetime future rotations/alignments. I would definitely recommend this place. No gimmicks, no BS, no trying to up-sell me something I didnt need --- just get er done attitudes and a good natured smile to go with it. Who woulda thunk it...an honest mechanic shop! Thanks again Meg and team!

My initial experience with this shop was very good, but things have gone downhill over the past year. The final straw came when they completely botched a repair, and then refused to own up to it. At this point, I will no longer have them working on my car. Starting with the good... When I arrived in Boston in 2013 after a cross-country trip, my Subaru was making a terrible noise. They correctly identified the source, and made the repair. From that point I had them doing routine maintenance without any issues. I even got a great deal on a set of winter tires from them when I had a blowout. They were always friendly and courteous and offered me rides home. The trouble started a little over a year ago with a new employee at the front desk who was rude and acted like he had a hangover the whole time I was dealing with him. He kept the car in the shop for a whole day without looking at it. At that point I had to take it back and fix it myself. Then I had them replace all the drive belts. After I got the car back, there was squeaking noise that sounded like a belt slipping. I brought it back to have it fixed, but after looking at it for a day, they told me there was nothing wrong with the belts. I then took the car to a Subaru dealer, and was told that the belts were put on backwards and tensioned improperly. Enough said! I dont want to say that they are terrible people, because they do seem to have some very nice guys working there, but I dont trust them any more.

BUNCH OF SCAMMERS I took my truck there for an oil change and asked them to diagnose a noise that the front end was making. They told me that they did not hear the noise that I was talking about but they did say all 4 of the brake calipers were not disengaging and that they needed to be replaced, along with the rotors and pads; they also said the brake fluid needed to be flushed. All and all it was going to cost $2400. I didnt believe them so I took it to my mechanic that I trust, and he said that the brakes were completely fine and that the noise I was hearing was due to some bushings that needed to be lubricated , cost me $100. Do not trust these guys, they just want to take as much money from you as they can even if your car is completely fine. Really? All four brake calipers failed, how often does that happen?

I had a great experience here after an especially bad experience at the dealership. I called and was told they could take my car that day. When I got there I had planned to walk home and they offered to give me a ride (I live <1 mile away). I called at the time it was supposed to be finished to confirm- didnt want to walk over there if it wasnt ready. The car was done on time and they even had the same driver come back and pick me up to go get my car. Service was fairly priced and completely in a timely manner, workers were friendly, and I didnt even have to walk in the cold like planned. Will definitely return to this location again.

Bad experience. Tried to sell additional services along with just the tires i wanted to replace. 2x Overcharged for the tires. Sullivan Tire costs half the price this place charges. Went in to pick up after 1.5 hrs and still had to wait another half hour. They convinced us that the headlights needed to be replaced because they werent working. Really dude? It was totally working during crazy snowstorm on Saturday. Stole car parts from me and stating they werent there in the first place. I went to another auto place in Watertown and the owner fixed my car up free of charge.

These guys were great! I came in with a popped tire (I dont know much about tires), and they took the time to educate me about what tires to put on my car (apparently I had winter tires and those are only supposed to be used seasonally), and gave me a lot of options for replacement tires to meet me where I was at. Also, when they found other issues with the car, they told me how theyd affect the driving, but made it clear that they just wanted to give me information and I could choose to do with it what I liked. Never have I encountered such honest people!

I brought my car here for a oil change and engine light check and appreciated the service and deal. In the end he charged me less than I thought (even though he could have charged me more). I only needed a basic oil change not a premium including a tire rotation (since he said my tires are old, but didnt press me to replace them). My engine light was for a part that only needs to be changed if I register in MA and again no pressure to get it. Also he drove me to and from work while my car was being work on. I will definitely go back.

Hands down this is the best car shop I have ever gone to. I took my car to another shop for an inspection and it failed. It was bad news for me because I had an 8 hour drive the next day. In a panic I called every shop in my area. This is the one place that said they could do it, and they did! More importantly they called me before they did any work so I would know what was being done and how much it would cost. These are the most honest and hard working mechanics in the business. Thank you times a million you guys :)
