This is cross-posted from my Yelp review: If youre in the Cambridge area and looking for a great agency for rentals--go to Century 21 Avon. Ask for Paul Raymond. You will not be disappointed. I was moving to the Boston area on a very short timeline; I had two weeks to get here from Arizona as I was starting a new job in the beginning of July. I had spent a lot of time on Craigslist and in contact with various agents across Cambridge and the Boston area while still in Arizona but had never been able to find something that really suited me or any realtors who seemed interested in helping me find a place to live in. A few even told me up front that what I wanted (move in July 1st, within a fixed budget, near the red line, not on the first floor, etc.) didnt exist and wasnt possible. It was awful and made my anxiety about trying to get into a place even worse. On my first day here in Cambridge, I started calling different agencies that I found through MITs realty listings and Century 21 Avon was the first one that answered my phone call and was willing to meet my needs. I was connected to Paul who listened to my story and met with me on the same day--literally a few hours later--to show me five different properties within my price range and in beautiful areas of the city that I could move into right away. All of them were absolutely wonderful properties I could have seen myself living in easily--it was hard to pick a favorite! He provided great information about the surrounding areas, local amenities, and about the landlords and owners of the various properties he showed me and was incredibly thorough and transparent about the whole rental process. He was incredibly responsive and great about following up with information, never pressured me into signing a lease or trying to get into a place, and was very respectful of my needs to discuss my thoughts with family before I made a set decision. This was my first apartment and he worked very hard to make sure I got it, even without having a prior rental history, and I had signed the lease and had keys in hand in just two days. Amazing! I am so happy to have had his help through this process and I couldnt possibly be happier about where Im living now in a gorgeous, historic building near Harvard. I wish I could give Century 21 Avon a higher score! I am so thankful to Paul for his help and I highly, highly recommend him. Dont waste your time elsewhere--if you need something in Cambridge, call Paul!

These guys were very helpful--by far the most resourceful and responsive agency I used, when I was looking for a one-year rental in the Cambridge area. I worked with Paul, and he provided me with the most promising rental listings in the area, he was very patient with my unusual and difficult requests (especially regarding helping me find a place that was pet-friendly!). Even more helpful than all that, though, was that he was very generous with his time--he took the time to really discuss what my wife and I were looking for, he spent a lot of time showing me around Cambridge and Somerville, and was very good a following up. Over the few days that I worked with him, Paul gave me a lot of very useful background information on the area, which was extremely helpful in reaching our final decision about where to rent. In addition to all that, I never felt that Paul or Century 21 gave me the "hard sell"--they were very patient and willing to help me find the place that would be the best fit.

I worked with Anna, and while she was very nice, she failed at listening to our requirements. First apartment Anna showed was nice but $300 over our budget. Next two apartments were in apartment buildings (which I said wed prefer to avoid), with tiny prison-like windows (bright was one of our top asks), and one of the apartments had carpeting (we asked for hardwood). All in all, considering that I only had 3 days to find a place, my time would have been better spent elsewhere.
