I am a very savvy senior citizen and knowledgeable about cars (I research how much parts cost). I drive an old Saab that has been properly maintained by a very competent Saab mechanic in VT. I drive less than 5000 miles a year so the car is not overworked. Last spring I moved to Duxbury and had no problem with my car until December 8 2016 when it wouldn’t start. I called AAA and they said my alternator and battery needed to be checked and probably replaced. Since I’m new to Duxbury I asked for a recommendation and was referred to Bennett Gas and Service on Tremont St in Duxbury, (owned by Tony Izza). That was the beginning of my $845 nightmare (with more expense to come). Long story short, the car was in his shop for 5 days. By the 4th day I was so angry and disgusted with Mr. Tony Izza (rude, arrogant, dismissive, defensive and disrespectful) I had my son call him. He did, and the next morning Mr. Izza called him back and told him the car was running but needed more work (muffler, air bag and directional system he had screwed up) to the tune of another $800. My son said no thank you. When I picked up the car, the alternator and battery were replaced ($448.82), my dashboard had been dismantled and wiring was altered (repaired?) and screwed up (Labor @$90x4 $360.00), my front exhaust section was broken (very loud/ cost unknown) my airbag warning light is on (cost unknown) and my directionals don’t work properly (cost unknown). I paid my $845 and told Mr. Izza what I thought of him. I have been dealing with mechanics for over 50 years and have never dealt with the likes of Tony Izza. Stay away, stay far away from Bennett Gas and Service in Duxbury. This review does not deserve the one star I had to assign in order to post and Mr Izza and his business have been reported to the MA Better Business Bureau.

Ive been using Bennetts for about 4 years now and have yet to be disappointed. They provide great service, are very friendly and accommodating. Prices are reasonable for the service they provide and they dont fix things that arent broken. I feel that my car and my safety are in good hands.

Called to make appointment, said I would wait, was told NO, had to leave car. I attempted to offer I could come another day; before I could do that I was told-NO, we are busy, you must leave car. VERY arrogant and rude, will never use them for anything in the future!
