My son has been a member of NEMA since February of this year. I happened to know Master Cooper for many years and both, Ms. Red and Master Cooper were warm and welcoming of my son to their school. They answered our questions and continue to answer them as we go along. The class sizes are not overly large, allowing each child to receive attention and help learning new skills. I like that they go beyond training and get involved with the children holding fun events such as water gun fights and getting the parents involved as well. My son has improved tremendously since beginning classes here, each class gives him more confidence in himself and has taught him respect, patience, and discipline. He looks forward to each class and the new things he will be learning. At home he has become a more well behaved child, helping with chores more often, and using his manners more often as well. I would highly recommend N.E.M.A to anyone that is looking for a great atmosphere for their child to learn the art of taekwondo and how to use the skills learned for personal growth and apply them in life. Like my son, Daniel, says at home all the time.... Never give up, never give up!! Vanessa Gois

If you are hoping your child will learn how to defend themselves, they wont. They will learn SO much more!!!! We signed our son up (who is undersized) after he was dealing with continual bullying at school and sports camp. His introduction to the school was a 1 on 1 review with master cooper where his values and approach was made very clear to me. Master Cooper in two weeks has transformed my child but not how I first expected. He has taught him to respect the art, that he will demand 100% effort, and that he will make it fun along the way. But what he taught him about respecting the family, honesty, and integrity has been the best part about by far. At home when he is asked to do something we are no longer met with "ok", or "in a minute", his response is a stern "Yes dad" or "Yes mom". In closing if you are looking to teach your child how to beat people up, find another instructor. If you want your child to learn how to defend themselves, become more confident so they can avoid conflict but have the tools to defend themselves while learning respect Master Cooper is the best Ive seen. So much so that I will soon be a student myself.

I typically dont do this but I felt compelled to tell the parents out there that are toying with the idea of getting their kids into martial arts to ABSOLUTELY do it & to do it with New England Martial Arts!! My 7 year old started classes with this school about three months ago and it is the best thing my husband and I could have done for him. Master Cooper has created an environment that allows the kids to grow their confidence/self esteem level with every class. He spends the time with these kids individually and as a whole to teach them to be leaders and not followers. He teaches them to respect themselves and others, he teachers them strength as well as focus. Somehow, regardless of how busy he seems to be, he still makes it a priority to make sure each child in his school is progressing in order to meet their full potential. I am absolutely enamored with this school and I feel that Master Cooper, Ms. Red, Michael, David, Leah & the rest of the NEMA family/staff members deserve the highest accolades that could be given. Give NEMA a shot, you will NOT be disappointed!

If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would!! I trained at another school while I was in high school, until unfortunately the school closed down, right as I earned my first degree blackbelt. After trying out another school, I stopped practicing, and somehow 8 years flew by! I had known Master Cooper from my time in the competition circuit, and also because my younger brother went on to get his 4th Dan at NEMA. I knew that he was extremely knowledgeable, and if I was to go back I would want to give his school a try. So I finally bit the bullet, and walked into NEMA! As soon as I walked into the dojang (it is absolutely beautiful) I felt instantly at home! They welcomed me back as a black belt, (even though I feel more like a white belt!). Everyone has been so kind, encouraging, and patient with me as I relearn everything. Seriously, amazing!! Master Cooper, Master Red, and all the instructors are all wonderful! I am beyond happy I chose NEMA to continue my martial arts adventure at!

My husband and I have talked about having our 2 boys 8 & 6 years old start taking Martial Arts. But as all parents we got too busy and just never made the time. After seeing an ad on FB about NEMA I figured lets give it a try. Thank goodness we did. This school is amazing. They look at each kid as an individual and teach to the child. If one is struggling they put in the time to help. There open floor policy is great. Parents can participate in a class with there kids or just step in when they see their child just needs that extra support. This is great to help them adjust. They dont only teach martial arts but also how they can be safe in the crazy world we live in today. Master Cooper and his team not only teach the kids but they also teach the parents. I would recommend this school to everyone I know. My kids love coming, even after a full day at camp on a 90 degree day they cannot wait to put on their uniform, belt and go to class.

This is the largest martial arts training facility in the region. Unlike every other one, this is the best because it is not squished, creating a sense of claustrophobia, but combines three separate training sections on one large floor, which is currently is two stories tall. This, combined with the color in the background, creates a feeling of a huge area for training. Overall, the whole place looks amazing and the instructors are certified, something that I cannot say about many other schools, teaching a variety of martial arts, including Tae Kwon Do, Mixed martial Arts, Kick Boxing, and Self defense, as well as offering Personal Training. Even if you are not interested in martial arts or the ways of self-defense, you should still at least come and glance at the new building, where you will see how great the environment is and possibly changing your attitude to one of openmindedness and considering a trial.

My husband has been in the martial arts program for four months now and has been ranting and raving about the atmosphere/experience of the space and people. Im open minded to new workout techniques but always tend to be pretty nervous trying new places, but everything my husband told me was true - I should know by now to believe him :) So my first day - I walked in and was immediately greeted by Master Cooper and Red. I got the class run down by their son David. He then showed me some basic kickboxing moves for proper form so I would be less likely to injure myself ;) As class started Red and David would check in with me and correct my form which was super helpful! Im so happy to be part of the family at NEMA. Both my husband and I look forward to our classes so we can not only have fun but push ourselves physically and mentally. Thank you NEMA for making us feel so welcomed!
