I retract my 5+star rating. My experience ended up being an extreme disappointment, and costly once thing were made transparent. I did not reread the fine print but apparently ATF have criteria (that are NOT at all shared with you in advance) whether you can participate in a CONTRACTUALLY PAID FOR class. After rearranging my busy schedule I came in one day and was informed that I could no longer keep my routine that prior to that I received no indication that this could happen! NONE! I am not a body builder, and as my initial post (kept below to show that I sincerely WAS happy, resulting in current profound disappointment), my intention was to stay fit through rigorous workouts 3-4 times a week. Never have I experienced such a shock and odd business model where things were so conditional without pure transparency. It is not like attending a Harvard class with obvious expectations of extraordinary success. And, as an academic, Harvard and ANY schooling would provide feedback and warning before kicking you out! Originally I was pleased to find a local gym that supposedly promoted health and fitness but instead I found a passionate "business" with their own agenda and surprising cliqueiness, and for me, a seemingly random business practice that I cannot imagine being any place else. Quincy YMCA is fantastic , affordable and with a reliably SOLID mission and vision promoting acceptance, tolerance (people with physical disabilities are WELCOME THERE!), mental and physical health... And if you pay for the class you will never be told to leave. Initial post: Of course the hours are fantastic!! The people who work there are super suburb (to be superlative!!). What I like the most about those employed at ATF is that all are very sincerely "fitness-minded" folks who have a passion for what they chose to do for work. In this context, their genuineness also exudes a very tolerant, nonjudmental and accepting attitude for all fitness levels, stages of motivation for fitness that permits me to be exactly where I am, with available freedom to practice My Best Fitness-Mode at any given time [as long as I am doing my best].

I wanted to try a 24 hour gym so that I could take the excuse of the gym being closed away from myself. Its definitely paid off and Ive had an excellent experience here. I was really impressed that Matt the owner took so much time on telling me everything about membership and the space even though I walked in ready to sign up. There are no lockers, there are cameras everywhere and the doors track who goes in and out. I really like this system, its the most secure Ive felt at a gym and at the same time I think it adds to the sense of community shared with fellow gym goers. There are two spacious unisex shower rooms in addition to two unisex toilet/changing rooms, and in the 6 months Ive been going here Ive only had to wait once for a shower. It seems like 6-7pm is when Ive noticed the most people. I use the weights area for the most part and its not been much of a bother to wait for equipment if theyre in use. The staff are very friendly but not overly so. Christine and Matt will likely greet you by name and the trainers Rebecca, Keith, and Emily will smile hello. When they are working with clients they dont interrupt the regulars routines. I dont do any of the classes, but the attendees always seem psyched for them. There is a Facebook group for the gym where the trainers will keep people in the loop if theres extra spots and so on. The atmosphere is great overall. Its well lit, the ceilings are high, theres ample room to move about freely and the soundsystem is kept at a good volume. There are two rows of cardio machines, the usual array of weight machines including an assisted pull up machine, and an adequate free weight area. There is a small area to throw down mats to do floor work, but if its crowded it is usually an option to go into the studio. The studio has some bikes and TRX stuff, and a projector to watch workout videos you can choose from. Overall, its the care of the staff, the welcoming and motivating atmosphere, and the 24/7 open doors that keep me coming back regularly and happily.

I have been to many gyms over the years and none of them have compared to my experience with Anytime Fitness in Quincy. At other gyms you feel like just one of the masses, no one knows your name, you are just there to work out and leave. AFQ is the complete opposite of that. AFQ is a family. When you walk in the door the staff will greet you by name, chat with you, check in with you and make sure everything is going well. The atmosphere is extremely inviting and a safe place to be. I have been going there for almost a year now and I dont know why I ever went anywhere else. When I first started there I didnt engage in all of the community activities, first off because I thought it might be like any other gym so I went to work out and that was it. But then I decided to sign up for some personal training and began to find out about more things going on in the gym. Since then I have made a ton of new friends, I now have an accountability group and extremely helpful and supporting staff to guide me on my weight loss journey. Not only have I had an extremely positive social experience with AFQ, I am also seeing results! I have been working my butt off, but dont think I could have done it without the amazing staff and community at AFQ! I love you guys, thank you for making working out such a positive and exciting experience for me!

Never felt more welcome and comfortable in a work out facility. Every other gym I have attempted to incorporate in my life fell short in some way. I felt stuck and frustrated. A friend of mine told me about a 24 hour gym that was down the street from my house. It was in the same plaza as a bank, drugstore and supermarket. Once I saw the facility and met with the owner (who signed me up himself). I got an in depth explanation of what would be expected of me if I signed up and I had options, a lot of them. It took about 10 or 15 minutes to hear these options and sign up. I was impressed with the thoroughness of the owner and felt no pressure to be locked into something I was unsure of. It was the best decision I could have ever made. I am there 6 days a week and have not only lost weight, Ive gained friends and a new found sense of who I want to be. I have recommended Anytime to anyone interested in making a positive change in their life and will continue to do so. Thank you Anytime!

I was looking for a new gym and this one happened to open around the corner from me so I checked it out. Its exactly what I was looking for!! The staff is beyond friendly. They ask you to come in for an initial consultation to talk about your fitness goals and check the place out, but then they actually follow up with you on those goals once you join! They give you tips and encouragement based on what your goals are, which is pretty much unheard of at other gyms. They remember your name and always greet you with a smile or a wave when you walk in the door - I cant remember the last time Ive felt so welcome at a gym. It actually makes it a hell of a lot easier to get my workout in after a long day at the office. Top it all off with the fact that its brand spanking new, always clean, and open 24-hours and youve got a 5-star rating in my book. Ive been a member of one gym or another for about 10 years now, and this is the best membership Ive ever had.
