Just moved to Boston this year, and I love this gym. So many options for sports, cardio, and strength training, you cannot get bored -- and the staff are beyond helpful. Theres even a sports bar, open to the public and perfect for hanging out after your workout. Plus, the membership is awesome and diverse - all ages and fitness levels will feel comfortable here. That said, its definitely a no-frills experience. If you want lattes or cucumber water, youll need to bring them yourself. Or you may want to try the much fancier spots downtown, like Equinox. But for those who just like to sweat and have fun? This place is awesome.

I moved to Southie last year and had to give up my healthworks membership when I did. I wanted to find something comparable, which I knew would be difficult. BAC has fewer classes, somewhat dated cardio equipment, but similar no-frills amenities for around the same price. Bigger facilities, but I dont take advantage of everything offered. Im Finnish so sauna is essential to any club. Someone needs to tell these girls NOT TO WEAR SWEATY CLOTHES and SHOES into the sauna. Damn. Best neighborhood option for sure otherwise.

All in all-- Ive been treated better at the supermarket checkout. Not anything near what youd expect for mid-range club service. My friend, who is a member, tried to go online to print a guest pass. Site was and is still down. We went to the front desk and the very folks who told us to go online said we needed a pass, else wed have to pay $20 to get in that day. Lady at the front was rude about it, denying the site is down, but it may be that its Friday afternoon or she wasnt having a good day.

There is Always something broken. If it is not the steam it's the whirlpool or the pool you cannot use for some on going class. I only use the pool to do laps and the wet area. I was told by the janitor I was. Not allowed to bring my gatorade plastic bottle by the pool. The management came to enforce the rule which I didn't know. Apparently your not allowed to hydrate. Ithere are no water fountains in that area. I go to relax and always leave stressed.........

The price was high, but I was willing to bite the bullet because they do have a lot of options instead of just weights and/or cardio. But they would not cancel my membership without a specific form and charged me for a whole month after I moved out of Boston, even though I reached out over a week before my membership ended. Very poor final impression of what previously would have been a decent experience.

Great huge gym and good customer service. Staff gave me a good tour around the facilities. I was impressed with its offerings. However, I thought is was really odd that I didnt see a single person of color (including Asian descent) in any of their comprehensive facilities for the 1.5 hours I stayed at the gym in the evening. Kinda weird.

BAC is a great place for working out and they have lots of working machines, and your able to get a complete workout anytime! They also have a PT place right inside called Boston Physical Therapy, however small its awesome also! Did I mention they have drinks with electrolytes in them also?

Terrible customer service! Recreational leagues are a joke! Our team disqualified from playoffs due to the lack of managers inability to organize. On top of that we were offered $36 like we were playing for money. Very disappointed and will never attend any other events or activities.

Nice gym with everything I need nearby home in Southie, but they are constantly changing things and removing stuff within the gym which is not always for the better. That coupled with the consistent price hikes earns a 3 star rating from me.

The BAC is a great gym with a strong community vibe to it. They have mostly everything youll need from basketball, swimming, tennis, indoor soccer, to all the fitness and exercise equipment you could ask for.

Big gym. Favorite part was the weekday basketball pickup games. They also have a pool, steam room and sauna. The gym is old but they are in the process of remodeling the place.

Customer care is so low. I dont get why theyve got so many members. Price high, people unwilling to help. They seem like they want to get rid of you asap.

BAC is pricey, but has it all, which is something I didnt anticipate that Id enjoy but now I find myself exercising more because there is so much to do.

Ive been a member of many gyms in the Boston area, and Boston Athletic Club is my favorite. As long as I live in or near Southie, Ill be a member.

Normal gym, lots of members and decent class and athletic facilities. Their free weights section is crowded and poorly layed out.
