I was having an issue with my Subaru Forester, the brake pads and rotors were making weird noise and I felt I may need to replace them and would be very costly Last time I did my services at Subaru dealership and I made a decision not to perform any major big replacement there as they will just rip you off badly. I came across Alewife Automotive on Yelp and decided to give it a try based on its reviews. They have not only met but exceeded my expectations, their attention to detail, friendly/kindness and explanations had helped me to understand what went wrong with my car and what they can do to help with the situation. I was extremely satisfied with their skills, attitudes and ability to go above and beyond with what I originally came in for, they even offer Uber/Lyft reimbursement if you take them to pick up your car (Up to $35 I believe, please double check with the shop) they have won my heart as a repeat customers, I have shared their names with my friends and family and I will bring my wifes car in for service next time!! A++, would recommend this to anyone around the area!

We made an appointment and brought in the car to have a noise investigated, and we told them we needed the car back the same day so all we were hoping for was a diagnosis. They did not give us a diagnosis. They didnt call us all day either, so we called ten minutes before they closed, and then came down to pick it up. It seems like they didnt do anything to the car, but they told us some story about not being able to drive it fast enough to hear the noise because of the snow. The roads are completely dry, and I can hear the noise when driving 30 mph. I know you are not being honest--you didnt look at my car! Why cant you just tell me that? Also, why did we make an appointment if you didnt have time to look at our car today? I cant stand dishonesty from mechanics--its cost me too much money in the past. Ill be looking elsewhere to find service for this issue and future ones.

I have never written an online review before, but I had to for this business. This is simply the best service I have ever had anywhere for anything. When I first called them, I had an estimate from another shop for over $2000 of repairs. Not only did George and the gang tell me I didnt need half the repairs on the estimate, but the ones I did need Alewife Automotive did better and for cheaper. I dont know anything about car maintenance so they could easily have bilked me for more money without me being any the wiser. Add to that theyre just really nice guys, that they warranty everything for so long, and that they included a free oil change and I felt like I was taking advantage of them. I will never take my car anywhere else, and neither should you.

In an industry where it is all to easy to be taken advantage of when your car is in trouble and your vulnerable,George and all the good guys at Alewife, are a beacon in the night. George works with his father and younger brother at the garage and when I moved to Cambridge I was lucky enough to have a friend recommend them highly. He has worked on several cars for me, and his consideration and honesty have been unparalleled-- bending over backwards to save me money and regularly going to the ends of the earth finding parts at great prices. I would never go to anyone else and neither should you! I have recommended him to anyone who will listen to me and to all of my family. A heartfelt thanks to everyone at Alewife!!!!

George, Eli, Alex and the rest of the team are awesome. They kept my jetta alive on a budget for a few years longer than other shops would have. Effort, creativity, common sense, and a ton of honestly is what you get out if these guys. I came in with a leaking tire one time, they patched it where I parked it. Another time my light switch went. The dealer said is was going be to $350. George sent somebody down to a junkyard and got a perfectly good one for around $30. They came back with 2 switches just in case 1 didnt work and didnt charge me for it. Having Eli look over your car for easy fixes before they become big problems is a smart thing. He caught my cracked timing belt when one of his guys was changing my oil.

Great Service! I recently went here for the state vehicle inspection and was more than impressed with the customer service. I dealt with George who one of the friendliest mechanics Ive ever met. George even stayed late after his shift to do the state inspection and apologized for making me wait five minutes while he was with another customer. When I was paying for the inspection, he told me about their policy where they will diagnose any car trouble for free and not charge a cent until you agree to the cost of the repairs. The gas prices are always some of the cheapest around. Needless to say, I will be returning here for any car trouble I have in the future and recommending this place to my friends.

George at Alewife Auto is AMAZING! He is the most honest and kind mechanic Ive ever met. Today, I had a leaking AC unit and he explained all of my repair options to me clearly and even gave me a "free" band-aid option! I opted for the complete repair, and George completed a number of other upkeep items for me as a complimentary service. He also identified and repaired an alignment issue that I wasnt even aware of for . . . you guessed it. . free! Ive never experienced such great customer service before, and I recommend George and his team to EVERYONE who needs auto work.

Ive met with Eli and Michael on several occasions. Always super helpful and friendly. Many examples, heres one. I called on a Saturday morning, because my wifes car had a tire that seemed to be leaking. They found a nail, took it out and patched the car. They also pointed out that my Mass inspection was due and asked if I wanted them to take care of it. I said sure. They did it all in 20-30 minutes while I waited and only charged me for the inspection. Classy place - I will be going back for sure.

There were some technically difficulties (my fault, not theirs) but they took it in stride, kept me informed, and helped resolve those issues. Honestly, you probably cant judge the trustworthiness of a place through only 1 instance, but I feel theyre trustworthy, good at what they do, and make you feel valued and informed the whole time. Im so lucky to have found these guys! The entire crew is full of fantastic guys who really know their stuff. They are the prime example of doing something you love and getting paid for it. I dont really hate paying a mechanic when its these guys because I know Im getting top-notch, high-quality work and weve gone over all possible alternatives. I cant recommend them more!
