A CAUTIONARY TALE - I sent my 2000 Saab 9-3 in for a diagnostic and they told me I needed to get my ignition cassette replaced. They told me the part cost $668.07 and it required two-and-a-half hours labor for $181.44 - a total of $891.26. Meanwhile, I did some independent research online for the part, and the the highest price I could find it for NEW with a warranty, was $320. They were trying to charge me DOUBLE what the part cost. I called and asked why this was and they said that they dont order parts online and their price might be that high because they could be the third or fourth person handling the part - with each person marking it up. ^absolutely ridiculous. I did some more research and it turns out that this particular repair only takes about 5 minutes - NOT the two-and-a-half hours they said it would take. Its as easy as taking out four screws and placing the new part in. So, theyre trying to tell me it would take two-hours-and-twenty-minutes to reset the engine codes for me. A complete joke. If you do choose to go there, do your research before they do the work. You could find yourself paying TWICE AS MUCH... ...or in my case (i found the part for $244 new with a warranty and Im going to do the work myself) FOUR TIMES MORE than you would otherwise.

Ive stopped here many times to get gas on the way home from Marlborough. They provide full service fill ups with window washing, and the gas prices are usually the same or lower than surrounding stations. I also had the unfortunate event of my battery dying while I was waiting for my tank to fill up (nothing to do with Sudbury Auto). It was just after 5:30pm and they were closing up shop. The mechanic gave me the option of a FREE rental car (which are all Volvos) until they were open again the next day to fix the battery. I dont know if it was my visible frustration with the whole situation (which was my knowing fault), but he looked up the battery part number, said he had the battery in stock, and offered to replace the battery right then and there. It was after closing time and he was very willing to help. Of course I took him up on his repair offer and he fixed it in less than 15 minutes. Great guys who helped me out that day. Pros: Empathetic and knowledgeable service, decent prices, free loaner cars, full service fill-ups, location off of Route 20, local company Cons: Cant find a sign that actually says "Sudbury Automotive"

Looking for inspection sticker? They are hard to come by here. 1) they listed something on inspection failure report that was working fine. 2) after replacing the tire they had an issue with, they claimed a different tire had tread too low and refused to give sticker. That tire wasnt a problem the first time. 2 weeks later its suddenly bad enough to fail me again? What kind of games are they playing? 3) They fail for petty reasons. Aside from being a stickler for tire tread, another example is one out of two light bulbs above license plate being out. Really? Took it to my trusted, local mechanic and he couldnt believe they failed me! While in waiting room second time another customer also came back for retest and said similar story that his local mechanic did not think tire was bad enough to fail. So im definitely not the only one frustrated by their BS. Waste of time and money.

Never Go to this place. I brought in my car for an inspection expecting nothing wrong. While sitting in the waiting room the mechanic came out and whispered to the man at the desk, obviously talking about my car. It was very clear that they were trying to get as much money out of me as possible. When they came out with the results, I had failed twice. Once for bad wipers (my wipers were fine) and once for "Loose Front End". I inquired about this so called loose front end and was told that they dont know what it is and they need more time to tell me. I could not believe that they had failed me for such stupid things and I ended up walking out of there with no inspection sticker and a $90 bill. RIP OFF.

Better quality of service than any dealership. Their prices are fair and market priced for European car service. You can pretty much get your car serviced in less than a days notice and most work is done within a day. Icing on the cake is their fleet of well maintained Volvo loaner cars. Ive had 7 of my cars maintained here over the past 10+ years and never had a single issue with their customer service, quality and workmanship. Only once a front brake rotor got warped sooner than anticipated and Pat stood behind their warranty and replaced it, no questions asked. Dont judge the place from its looks, it is a quality service, this is not your typical grease shop that you find at every gas station around here.

Do not bring your car here for inspection. My husbands car was failed because the tread was "too low" even though we could not find a thing wrong with the tires. Since we got a fail we had to buy two new tires which we did somewhere else and brought it back for re-inspection. While my husband was in the shop 3 other peoples cars were failed for ridiculous things (i.e. 1 out of 3 bulbs on a taillight was out, one person didnt have her front license plate attached). It is statistically almost impossible to have that many people in a wait money room have a fail on their inspection. It seems like they just want to get as much money from people as possible.

Weve lived in Sudbury for over 10 years. Weve gone to Pat and his team the entire time because they are great. Never once have I felt like they were pushing me to do anything on the car that didnt feel was necessary, and them being trustworthy is a big deal to me. The other thing that really helps is that they have a bunch of loaner cars that makes getting things fixed up much easier.

Expensive and sloppy. Charged $80 for a synthetic oil change I didnt request which then drained out over the next two weeks because they didnt replace the drain plug gasket. Had the fuel pump replaced which then smelled like raw gas for a week because the didnt change the mounting gasket. The prices charged are only barely lower than a dealer.

They will do the work by the book which is fine if you are absolutely novice at anything car related. Keep in mind doing every single thing by the book will cost you a pretty penny. I did not appreciate the condescending attitude. Always got oil changes here in the past. Will be going to Sullivan tires now.

they were excellent, several times the local bmw dealership told me i needed additional reparis ( i found out the bmw technicians get a quarterly bonus on new things they find need done ) I went to sudbury automotive, and found i did not need the expensive new things the dealer had recommended

Have lived in Sudbury nearly 16 years and we take all our cars here. We have an Explorer 2002, Toyota Rav 4 2001 and Toyota Echo 2000 - all old cars and still going well. If you dont know anything about cars you have to find someone you can trust. We feel that they are honest and reliable.
