After a long day, a friend of mine decided to be different and search for something exciting for the night. We decided in Creole and after a brief search, Google gave us this one. And it did not disappoint. The establishment itself was small and straight forward but rich with history through it photos and old jazzy atmosphere. The menu, for someone who rarely ate food like this was a bit confusing and I wish they had more pictures that showcased their selection. We went with the combo platter with shrimp jambalaya, red beans and rice, and shrimp gumbo. Out of the three, the red beans and rice was simply amazing. I could have ate that alone and been satisfied. The jambalaya was good as well but since I dont eat it often, I dont have anything to compare it to. I did not care so much for the gumbo, but dont take my word for it. I wish what we ordered came in carry out and not separate containers so I could have took pictures, but that is minor. If you are a fan of Creole and gumbo and get the taste for it, journey on down to the Louisiana Creole Gumbo Restaurant. My recommendation is the red beans and rice!

I used to love this place and it breaks my heart to have to write a review like this, but I honestly just dont know what happened. Back in 2004, they were the hottest spot for Creole fare outside of Fishbones. The small establishment stayed packed because the food was so robust and plenteous! Upon my more recent visit, I ordered the quart of red beans and rice with shrimp. What I received was a watered down cup of beans and shrimp. I didnt even taste any of the pepper that used to be the most noticeable part of the dish. I listened to several of the patrons that were there ordering before me. A lady was asking what others were ordering. Come to find out, everyone was ordering some variation of the red beans and rice! When the lady asked why is everyone ordering it, a gentleman answered with the most chilling answer anybody wants to hear before they get their food: "Because its the safest thing to order." It really upsets me when a great place loses its appeal.

The 1st and last time Ill ever visit this place! The service was horrible, ghetto, unprofessional under par, uncouth attitudes. Yelling and showing the customers how upset you are to be at work and how badly you want to go home. Cashier doesnt know how to work the register. I placed my order and cancelled it right after I experienced the horrific workers that they have. Getting smart with the customers is never a way to conduct a business. Without us, theres no you! The lady named Martha that claimed to be a manager had a scarf on her head as if she were at home and the most horrible attitude that Ive ever experienced. I work in the food and beverage industry and that is totally unacceptable. I dont care how good the food is claimed to be, service and taking care of the customer is everything and they are definitely lacking in that area! Id never patronize this place, NEVER!!!! If I could give no stars I would. Horrible and embarrassing.

Customer service horrible! I went to the Schaefer/ w 7mile location, when entering along with several other customers. Never did one employee say hello to the customers (maybe due to the bullet proof glass). After standing in line for 5 plus minutes I decided to locate a paper menu, realizing the menus are kept behind the bullet proof glass. It took another few minutes to actually obtain one from the employees (again never said hello, never apologized to any customer for the long wait). Remind you the food is already prep in metal like containers that are kept warm. I was curious after seeing them featured on Tasty Tuesday on Channel 4, but after the rude customer service Ill pass on the food all together. Restaurant owners must realize there is always plenty of competition, 1st impressions are ever lasting.

The Waitresses act like they really dont want to be there. Very unfriendly. I have been at least twenty times and never have they gotten my order right. Not once! To call a head means nothing. When you give them your name is when they begin preparing your order. The decor is horrible, but the food is awesome. Its a shame at how much business they are losing from my contact All my coworkers love the food and since I live near by, I would take orders and the bill was upwards of $200. Now I wont take orders because it is time consuming, and I get the blame when orders arent right. 3 thumbs up for food, Shame award for service.

This place is hit and miss. The staff is inconsistent. The taste is inconsistent. Sometimes the food is bland. Sometimes staff is nice and other times they are flatout rude. They sold my sister undercooked peach cobbler woth raw crust and hard peaches and looked confused when she said she didnt want it. The lay said "Well throw it away, wr dont want it either." As if the complaint was about where to put thd undercooked cobbler. We ended up leaving and eating at Cutters.

Went and got the gumbo seafood supreme..... Was literally nothing but grease and disgusting oil. Im easy to please but at 16$ for that mess Im kind of pist and to add on top of that I was given a styrofoam fliptop as my container? There is no possible way to keep gumbo from spilling if you dont wrap it properly. Just really kind of disappointed. Anticipation =hurt

The red beans and rice with sausage was good...but I ordered a pint of rib tips and when I got all the way home...it was a container of bones and sauce...I really wasnt happy...when I called back the lady offer me a 20% discount on my next purchase... If I didnt live so far away I would have given her all her bones and sauce back...dont when or if Ill go back

Glad that this place is around!!! Their cornbread is amazing. I could eat a dozen or more myself! Definitely worth the stop. The people behind the counter have always been nice. One comment is that their gumbo is a little heavy on the celery. But so far everything that I have eaten here has been really good. I always try to stop when in Detroit.

I have used Louisiana Creole Gumbo a few times already for business lunches and it is by far the best home cooking that I have had in a long time! Excellent selection, terrific and reliable catering, friendly owners! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone doing business lunches or parties! You will want to come back for more!
