I joined the location in downtown Farmington. Every so often I see something that kind of grosses me out like chunks of dirt on the ground, chunks of dust all of a sudden falling off a fan down onto me below (has happened on multiple occasions), but every day Id just say "its cheap, its ok, Ill put up with a little dirt." Other things bother me as well like the lack of a dress code for employees...for instance, one day the young girl that works in the evenings had on a see through shirt. Literally, see through. Im sure its a treat for the fellows that run the place, but its just not appropriate. I work in very lax dress code office myself, but we still have some standards as far as the dress code goes...like no tube tops/overly revealing tops, no light colored or hole-filled jeans, no logos on hoodies, etc...The only people I see wearing a fitness19 logo are the trainers. They mention on their website "equipment and workout space that is clean"...a far cry from reality. I have not once seen an employee clean a machine...Ive previously been a member at Planet Fitness, and every single day I witnessed employees cleaning every inch of unoccuppied machines. I always saw people cleaning the restrooms and locker rooms at Planet. I have seen the same candy wrapper in a single machine for weeks at Fitness19. No one ever cleaned that machine...unless you believe that the same person sat at the same machine every day and left the same candy wrapper everyday...yeah, I dont believe it either. Person after person using a spray and a re-used rag on very few parts of the machines is not how you should make sure the machines are cleaned. There are spots on those machines that look like theyve been gathering dust for weeks. They were shocked when I said I dont want to touch those bottles and rags. Id bet Id get more germs from the rags, door handles, free weights, mats, and restrooms, then Id get from the spot someone was sitting on the machine. I had to walk out today over my disgust of how this gym stays "clean". An employee literally walked up and down the aisles with a can of febreeze, so as were working out we are all of a sudden forced into inhaling the stuff. I hope febreeze and vacuums are not how the floor is kept clean and smelling fresh...something tells me it is, and that the carpets never seen a carpet cleaner. This place is disgusting. Im about at my wits end with the cleanliness of this place, much more of this and I will definitely be switching back to Planet Fitness...its a longer drive, but its 1000 times cleaner! They get two stars for my rating because the people are nice & friendly, and the price is nice for those who can barely afford living. I however would not recommend anyone join this gym. Maybe the other locations are more professional than Farmington???

If you thought it couldnt get any worse than Planet fitness, think again. Fitness 19 is THE WORST gym ive ever had the displeasure of attending. First off, its always overcrowded. There are way too many people crammed into such a little space. If you want to do free weights better get used to people constantly bumping into you and always getting in the way. On top of always having to wait for other people to finish using the weights you want to use. The "changing rooms" always permeate the stink of curry and dirty smelly feet. Its DISGUSTING. There were even flies in there a couple times. The bathrooms are about as clean as a porta-potty and smell like one too. The staff is real friendly until they get your signature and your money then theyre all rude. I hired one of their "Trainers", his name was Jesse and i couldnt have been more disappointed and annoyed at how i wasted my money on that. He was about as intelligent as an 8 year old and made my girlfriend very uncomfortable constantly checking her out and trying to sneak a peek down her shirt. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. They also constantly vacuum the gym while people are working out on the machines. Because thats what you want right? A dirty dusty vacuum in your face while youre working out. And of course the loud gangster rap they like to play on the overhead speakers all the time is just awesome too. This gym is horrible and I highly recommend any other place, even "Planet" is better.

We joined in 2007 and it was much better than Ballys. As time has passed we have noticed the maintenance of machines is very lax. The owner is never around and would not allow you to contact them anyhow, management obviously been schooled to keep them out of the picture. The broadcast of the TV to FM for your headset has been non functional for many many months, lots of excuses from the staff. Overall I get the feeling that ownership must be satisified by casflow and is not interested in actually using the yearly maintenance fee that they collect from every member to make sure the club is in tip top shape. They really dont care anymore. Still better than Ballys. And yes the bathrooms are disgusting. On the positive side the employees are friendly and the location is convenient. UPDATE 2-10-12 the bathrooms are getting better and the broadcast to FM is working pretty well. There has been some effort to re-cover machine seats. Still a good value.

Just signed up at this gym last Sunday! So far So Good, Facilities are Clean, Gym is busy, but not over crowded. I tend to work out after I get off work and some other gyms I have been to have been super packed at that time. Like I say I have only been there a handful of times so far but the other gym members and the staff all seem friendly. My wife also signed up at the gym and she takes our kids to the child care when she works out. She told me last time she went to work out the kids had so much fun play with the other kids that they didnt want to leave when she finished her work out. The play room is not that big but they have toys and cartoonsmovies to keep the kids entertained. All in all for the price this place is hard to beat!

Been going here daily for a little over a year and couldnt be happier with this gym. Very clean and orderly inside with all weight plates neatly organized. Machines for particular muscle groups are grouped near each other and there is sufficient room to navigate in-between machines without bumping into other people. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the people that workout there are incredibly nice and friendly as well. This gym has all the equipment you need to actually workout whether it be cardio, free weights or machine weights. Non intimidating and very welcoming atmosphere. It is a pleasure to have this gym in the neighborhood.

Honestly one of the worst fitness 19s Ive lifted at. Unfortunately they randomly shutdown the Livonia locations basically screwing over a lot of people. They then told us could go to this location. The place is mess. Weights literally thrown everywhere. The low ceiling makes it feel like your training in the basement of house that was built in 1930. To top it off the place smells horrible with zero ventilation. O ya, good luck finding a parking spot. Its right next to a grocery store. Lastly the hours suck. Do yourself a favor and cancel your membership and find a real gym.
