I am surprised at the reviews. I have been a member here for about 8 months. The childcare facility is amazing, the women that run that eases my fears when I first started bringing my then 1 and 4 year old and now my kids run down the hall to get there as fast as possible. When I first started out I did a few dance fitness classes and cardio a week. The instructors were always amazing, and while some were not my style, it was not their fault or a bad personality, it just wasnt the class for me. The cleaning staff are circulating constantly. In the 1-2 hours I am there a day I run into the cleaning people more than a few times. I have ever experienced an unpleasant smell in the locker room and certainly no one is inappropriate. There are two specific areas in the three sections in the locker room, with curtains, so that if you prefer more privacy thats available to you, ontop of the several large rest room stalls. I am a germ-a-phobe and have never seen anything dirty in the locker room even a splash of water on the counter tops. As far as the training staff. If you have an appointment for personal training, they are always on time and always very friendly. The staff at the desk upstairs are very knowledgable and will help you out if you have a question about equipment or exercise. I have been doing personal training now for a 6 months, with Chad, and am loving it! I am down 20lbs, have lost 10 inches on my waist alone and have previous injuries that he has to be very creative and accommodate and does wonderful at it. Personal training is expensive (understandably) but the "wicked witch" billing lady has worked out payment plans with me each time I renew my package and I even missed a promotion once and she was kind enough to still apply it. This is not planet fitness...its more expensive because it offers way more and higher quality staff and facilities. also they just got a new gym floor, new floor in the fitness class area, and some new equipment this fall.

This place is way overpriced and depressing as heck. I do not care for the architecture, nor am I a fan of the tiny shallow pool area, which is often filthy. (Who knows what people have been doing in the pool and hot tub?) The changing rooms do not have enough privacy. I dont like seeing other people naked, nor do I feel okay about removing my clothes in front of strangers. You never know what kind of random creepy people might lurch in the changing rooms or whether or not they might grab our "naughty areas" for their own amusement. Also, both changing rooms smell like rancid sweat and fresh feces! Most of the "trainers" just jabber senselessly with each other while members wait patiently for them to train them. Basically, Borgess Health & Fitness Center is an under-maintained dump with unprofessional personnel that only care about making money. The billing person is like the Wicked Witch of the West because she talks in a hostile tone to people, swindles them, and lies. Dont go there!

I cancelled my membership a few months ago when i put in my 30 day notice when i broke my lease at my old apartment complex. I moved to battle creek. They cannot find my cancellation form and in the midst of my move I lost mine. They have charged me for the last 3 months and refuse to return my money. Their excuse is this has never happened before, weve never lost the paperwork. But they obviously lost mine. With buying a home and expecting a baby, the money they owe me could come in handy but they wont budge. I am very dissatisfied with the customer service i received and will not be recommending anyone to this gym. From working in customer service pretty much my entire career, saying this had never happened before is just not an acceptable excuse. I feel my money should be returned and this should be a teaching moment for your employees to ensure this never happens again.

Ive been a member for many years. I believe its the best value in this area. The gym membership has become very diverse since the personal and athletic training programs expanded. Staff is friendly. Members are supportive of each other at all levels of fitness. The group class selection is amazing. The personal training for members is a very good value. The weight training space and equipment is lacking a bit in comparison to other facilities. But they have added a lot of functional fitness programs now. The pool and the aquatics staff are great. Towel service is included in membership. Its just a very well managed facility. My husband and I both love it.

It has all the things you want without the stuffiness. The staff is very caring. All peoples are welcome. The facility is clean. Its does not have the biggest or best of everything. However the equipment is well maintained, clean and everyone there is friendly. Clientele and staff get along well. Many different types of classes to be had. I am enjoying my membership. It is not cheap, however it is not the most I ever paid. I recommend this place.

I love Borgess. My new gym home is updated and has excellent classes. My favorite ones are rhe body pump and tabata both with tge instructor Rita. She is amazing and keeps the energy going. The only reason it is a 4 and not a 5 is because I wish we could have more of the Ritas classes towards the evening and more activities that tge school age kids could do without parents having to be sitting down with them.

RIP OFF. Had a gift certificate for 90 minutes and used only 60. Paid out of pocket for 30 minutes to get another full hour massage. Mysteriously, when I called to make an appointment they said I used it. SCAM. Never go here. Wicked witch from billing is nail on head from previous reviews.

Wherever I am in town, I would surely bring my kids in Borgess for swim lessons, staff very friendly and helpful, awesome instructors, place is neat and clean, no complain but lots of complements

The only thing older than the people inside the gym is their equipment. Definitely needs a renovation with the prices they charge.
