I wanted to cancel my membership last July, due to Planet Fitness in both Westland and Canton, doing construction at the same exact time, and being the two closest gyms to me by far, going to a location on the weekend other than these two was highly inconvenient. After telling the Northville location (where I signed up) that I wanted to cancel, and it was due to their own lack of giving me what I was paying for, they made it very difficult, and insisted i pay a 59.99 cancel fee...which if it were for general buyer remorse, I would have gladly payed it, not though, when they arent giving me the product I purchased. Also, I had their "lunk alarm" blared at me for dropping a weight from 3 inches off the ground, after a very tough set. Planet Fitness has no interest in helping people obtain good.fitness ...they are merely on the business of collecting bank account numbers, and charging them all until the end of time.

I came in here with my mom and I have never been treated so horribly by people at a gym. The staff was so rude that I would rather pay more and go to a different gym. There should be some respect for the member and there is none what so ever. Just because this gym is cheap doesnt mean its clean. They dont even have towels, I have also tanned there and I would like to say i bought a tanning package after leaving else where because i rather tan in place where they clean. All in all i would never go back and I am paying for my contract to be cancelled i rather pay 70$ and end this and not get sick. When i go to work out i want to work out not have things being broken and not have my guest being harassed by the workers that work their. I pay for the extra membership i should be able to bring someone who is over the age of 18!

If you are only interested in cardio machines, then this may be the place for you. However, if you are trying to get stronger then look elsewhere. Their freeweight selection in incredibly limited including the lack of a squat rack, dumbbells only up to 75lbs the lack of an actual pull up bar, and to top it all off, deadlifting is not even allowed (not that they have they equipment to do it). The staff is friendly enough, and there is one late night guy who actually knows his stuff, but other than him they have no idea about working out. They will try to tell you that a smith machine is the same as a squat rack while any really knowledgeable trainer would know otherwise. Overall, they shun those who actually work to improve themselves in order to attract more people who will pay them, but seldom even go to the gym.

i have a few things to say about this place. The first thing is cutie should work more hours and do more than just cleaning the machines. Second, is my favorite trainer chris should defiantly return, for he made the gym. pool boy also stopped saying good bye to me for a time but i think we have worked out our differences now. another complaint i have is biker dude is really macking wayyyyyyy to hard on cutie. i know she has a sugar daddy but this is ridiculous. baldie needs a new head of hair that is just obvious. mafifa mans exercises are just amazing especially his high rows. it would be also prudent that crane gets a neck brace for it could snap any minute. chris abs works and shoutout to bk/mk and benzy

I feel that the average 3/5 stars is a too low. Its a budget gym, and its explicitly for the more casual gym-goer. If thats not obvious to you from the marketing AND LITERALLY THE SIGNS ON THE WALL than Im surprised you know how to use Google. Yeah itd be nice if they had a better freeweight selection, and a hot-tub, pool, and a dance studio (hey Center Stage), and a.... I deduct 1 star because they need to study machine utilization better and have more places to do pull ups. Not just because *I* want it but because its obviously needed based on machine availability. You could increase the pull-up+assist machines availability by adding a cheap non-assist pullup/chinup bar.

Ive been at Planet Fitness for about 3 years, first in Waterford, now in Northville. The gym is clean, and if you go at the right times, not that busy. I typically go around lunchtime during the week, theres not a whole lot of people there; easy to use any machines I want. Nights and weekends typically busier. They have all types of equipment and free weights. I just cancelled my girlfriends membership, since she wasnt close enough to go that often, and it was a simple process. Didnt have any cancellation issues like some others have posted. Overall, a great value for $10 a month.

I really like this gym. My monthly membership is only $10 a month and theres no contract. There are few "hidden" fees like sign up fees or a fee to keep your price for three years, but they are very minimal. The atmosphere is nice and the gym is clean. Since its a new place, the equipment is brand new. Plenty of aerobic machines and nice flat screen TVs. The staff is friendly and the locker rooms are big and clean. It can get a little crowded after work, but I havent had to wait for a machine yet. I highly recommend this gym.

Ive been going here daily for the past few months, and Ive only had great experiences. The staff is really friendly and welcoming. Nobody is judgemental. The equipment is good for what you pay. I see the staff cleaning every time Im there although I make a point to wipe down the machines before and after I use them... You can never be too safe. Ive belonged to far pricier gyms and yes you get a lot more amenities at other places but youll pay 10X more. Im really happy with my decision to sign up here!

If you have kids then go somewhere else. My wife went here with my daughter. Although my kid does not need baby sitting and was just sitting on a chair in the lobby, my wife was not allowed to use the gym. My daughter brought her books so she can read while waiting. The attendant at that time interrupted my wifes excercise and led them out of the place disallowing my kid not to stay. Very unreasonable. This was the first and last day my wife used this gym.

$10 bucks a month? Unbeatable. Even with the annual fee. Machines are nicer than what Im used to at other clubs. I dont know what other reviewers have been saying about cleanliness, every time Im here someone is walking around cleaning. It can be crowded, but I always find a treadmill or can use the 30 minute Express Circuit workout. This is a place for ordinary people to stay fit. If you are looking for body building, not sure it will work for you.

If youre looking to workout for really cheap then this is the place for you. I left here 3 years ago and never looked back. If you are trying to build strength and get into shape then join lifetime fitness down the road because this place is just too small. My apartment is bigger then the free weight area and they only have one bench press and the free weight only went up to 75lbs. You get what you pay for and for $8.50 a month it wasnt worth it.
