I booked appointments for my sisters wedding party during her bachelorette party weekend to get us relaxed for the weekend of fun. We were disappointed from the start. We were told to arrive about 15 minutes before our appointments, and we did so. We were led upstairs to a waiting room and literally forgotten about. We had four of us in all, and after waiting an hour and being ignored by every employee who walked by us (45 after the first massage was supposed to start), the bride had to go downstairs and ask what was taking so long. She asked a girl who was just getting in, hadnt even put her purse down yet, what the delay was. She assured her she would check right away. She came upstairs and told us that the massage lady was running late, and we would have to wait. She was almost an hour and a half late! Not even a sorry from the staff for making us wait, nobody offered us refreshments, nobody ACKNOWLEDGED us while we waited! I got my mani while one girl was getting a massage and the other two were getting pedis. While I was getting my mani, one of the staff members started calling for my sister, who was still in getting her massage (LATE) and I let her know where she was. She got an attitude and made a big deal in front of all the customers about how my sister was late for her pedi, when it was THEIR FAULT she was late!! One of the girls getting her pedi while I was getting my nails done asked the nail technician for a pink to match the wedding colors. While I was getting my pedi, she came back in, apologized, and asked if there was any way she could get a different color because she wanted pink and the lady painted her toes red. She even offered to PAY for it! The lady who did her pedi was rude and told her no, and another lady offered to do it for her. Then, while Im still in the room getting my pedi after my friend left the room, the staff starts talking crap about her! They literally talked crap about her in front of myself and another lady for about ten minutes, and then my sister joined us for her pedi, and they started up again! How unprofessional! If somebody asks for pink and you give her red, fix it, dont trash talk her, ESPECIALLY not in front of her friends! My sister wasnt even aware they were talking about our friend and commented on how innapropriate it was! Needless to say she was even more upset when she learned who it was about! While getting my pedi, another lady was already in there getting hers. I was out before her feet were even dry! Mine lasted about half the time hers did. How unfair when Im paying just as much! She didnt massage, lotion my legs, pumice my rough patched on my feet.. all stuff I was watching the other girl get done. When we paid, I was not informed the tips were already included in the price since it was a group, so I tipped for crappy service in addition to their gratuity! We were all very upset, obviously. My toes and nails chipped the next morning in the shower as well! I called to talk to the manager and told her everything that had happened, and she apologized and offered to send me and my sister a free pedi to make up for it. I declined mine because I live out of state and nothing could get me to return to Pavlova. My sister wouldnt have gone back either, but instead of a free pedi, they sent her 15% off her next spa experience! Are you kidding me?! No thank you! The people working here are unprofessional, rude, and the money spent isnt worth it when you have to repaint your nails again in two days! Dont waste your money!

Services are okay -- had much better elsewhere. Too much hype for this place, was expecting more. I had a spa day. Was there from 10 am till 4:50 pm. I was supposed to get a fruit smoothie and was never offered one. I had some coffee and water. After 7 hours spent there, I had nothing to eat and nothing was offered. Im sure you can imagine how I felt when I left there. Plus I had 1 1/2 hour drive ahead of me. A lot of kids there the day I went. So much for having a relaxing day...who can relax in that kind of atmosphere. I expected a lot more over the top pampering -- didnt get it. I was extremely jittery and weak after the long day there. I wanted to get my cucumbers back they had on my eyes. The services I did get were good, like I said, but not great. I did call the next day to question them about my long day there without food and I never got a call back. I wont be back. With all the competition in town, I was very disappointed. There certainly are much better salons in town. I had a gift certificate and added to this. I told my daughter not to bother getting me services from here again. It was noisy, the waits were long. Just an overall crappy experience.

If there werent several excellent salon/spas in Traverse City, Pavlova would be fine, but there are others in TC that are better. I have had 3 hairstylists who have been at Pavlova and left because they couldnt deal with the owner, leaving me to find another or follow them to a new place. That owners attitude seems to carry over to the desk staff, who have the typical cold, hoity spa-ness about them. Compare that to Salone de Capelli (where I now go), where the staff is always warm and welcoming, people seem happy. That being said, Ill still go to Pavlova occasionally for a pedicure -- the nail staff has always been great and its a fun view to peoplewatch over Union St. downtown. Unlike the previous reviewer, I have had good waxing at Pavlova too. So 4 stars.

Very disappointed with the salon. Been planning on taking my granddaughter there to get her hair done. This was her weekend to be pampered. She has been so excited, sending me photos daily of different styles. Not even an hour before appointment I get a phone call from Forest saying they had to cancel appointment. I ask, is there no one that can do her hair??? NOPE COULD NOT ACCOMMODATE. I ask is there no one that could stay a bit longer! Nope no can do! Yet, when I made the appointment I had to give them my credit card in case we were a no show or cancelled less than 24 hours. Guess I should of gotten there credit card information so I could charge them for last minute cancel.

I made an appointment for myself and my maid of honor for massages, manicures and pedicures 2 months before my wedding. 30 hours before our appointments, I get a voicemail saying that the salon didnt have anyone to do our massages, so we were out of luck, but could still get manis/pedis. This was my maid of honors gift, so naturally, I was upset. So, I scrambled to find another place that could do all of the appointments. When I called to cancel the manis/pedis, the lady was rude and snotty to me about cancelling so close to the appointments. Are you kidding me? I would not recommend these people to anyone!
